  • Description

    Hi!

I am having a summer off between finishing my previous job and starting university as a mature student in September, and I am planning on doing some workaways during this time as I have previously found it a great way to travel.

I grew up on an organic farm in the countryside so I am used to, and I enjoy, working with animals and being in peaceful, rural areas. I also love hiking and have spent a lot of time in the mountains doing long distance hikes. I generally spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, running, cycling etc., so I am quite physically fit and happy to put in hard work.

I get on well with children and have volunteered with them before, leading activities etc. so I would like the chance to do more of this. Although I am happy working and spending time on my own, I would really like to meet new people and learn about their country and way of life.

  • More details about your skills

Having lived and helped out on a farm all my life I have picked up practical skills such as using tools, basic carpentry, painting, gardening etc. In previous workaway stays I have also done some bricklaying and cement mixing as well as a lot of gardening. Although I am definitely not an expert at any of these things, I am always happy to put in the effort to improve, and I enjoy learning from people who want to teach their skills. I am also comfortable with looking after and moving cows, sheep and most other farm animals and I am happy to do any physical work that might be required.

In a previous stay I spent a lot of time helping with my host's 9 year old son - homeschooling during covid and doing general after school type activities. I really enjoy doing this and spending time with children so I would be happy to help out with childcare if needed in any future stays.

I enjoy cooking for other people as well as trying new foods, and I am very happy helping out with household tasks such as cleaning. I have previously volunteered in hospitality settings and have experience cleaning to a high standard.

  • What else ...

I will be travelling solo so I am looking to stay with hosts that I can engage with fully as well as hopefully meeting other workawayers. Staying somewhere with a close local community would be great as well for this reason. I would love to learn about your culture and way of life, and try to pick up bits of language where possible.

I would also be very happy to share my own experiences and language and I look forward to meeting you.
