Hi, I'm Maurice. I'm happily married, with a son, and live in Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK). I've recently given up my full-time job with a charity which saves food from going to landfill by distributing it to client charities. There are a lot of people struggling, (as is the environment!) so food waste drives me nuts. I still work from home, editing and proofreading documents - which is work I hope to continue while volunteering. So in addition to being a native English speaker, my written English ability is good. I like to paraglide, do fun stuff, travel, meet people, and enjoy different cultures.

I worked for many years in a horticultural machinery business where I held several roles: managing the spare parts department, which held almost 3000 lines of stock; as manager of a workshop, overseeing the repair of small engines and appliances; in sales; and as a buyer.
I worked for 18 months offshore as a mechanic on oil platforms in the North Sea (UK).
I've done a lot of writing, which led to me becoming an editor and proofreader of written English content (full-length novels, CVs, e-learning courses, recipe books, calendars, websites, diaries, technical articles for the web ...you name it). I hold a full UK driving licence, I have a current forklift licence. I oversee new volunteers in the food charity I work at. -

I am happily married. I have flown a paraglider for 25+ years. If there is good paragliding sites in your area, I might be tempted to bring my kit and try to fly on my days off! I swim lengths at the local pool 5 days a week. Myself and my wife volunteered in a few school settings in India a few years ago.
