Hi, I am Margot and I am from New Zealand, a beautiful country nestled on the other side of the world!
I have just graduated from school and I’m taking a gap year to travel.
I’m an outgoing and friendly person and I love meeting new people. I also love spending time with the people in my life and having a sense of community.
I knew I wanted to take a gap year to have new experiences and see some more of the world. I'm going to be in the UK and Europe for over 6 months, and I’m equally excited and nervous to be travelling alone. It feels crazy to step outside everything I've ever known, but I cannot wait to see what wonderful places my travels will take me and who I will meet along the way!
I’m super interested in doing workaways because I want to travel slowly and more authentically by living alongside locals. The idea of cultural exchange to me is being able to more fully experience and understand a place in a way that I could not with regular tourism/travel. I love the idea of settling for a bit longer - and in doing so getting to know a place better and finding purpose. For me this isn’t a holiday - it's a chance to see new things, experience new ways of life, and exchange culture through travel.

More details about my language interests
I’m super interested in learning a language! I did French lessons for a couple years, but can’t remember much now. My father speaks 4+ languages and both of my siblings are bilingual (with different languages) so it’s quite an interest in my family, with living abroad inspiring that. As of right now I’m really interested in learning Spanish, because I would love to go to not only Spain but any and everywhere in South America!! I would love to pick up parts of any language, however, and I’m also super keen to help people improve on their English if they wanted help :)

A lot of my skills are to do with people. Since I am confident and outgoing, I am comfortable interacting with people and have skills in customer service. I have experience waitressing for over 3 years, cleaning, babysitting, and general leadership roles in my school. I am hardworking and determined - I spent the first half of 2026 working 40+ hours a week to save for travel, and at my job I was offered promotions to management roles within the restaurant because of my commitment and abilities.

I have always been very involved in team sports, extracurriculars, and community events. Growing up I played the cello, did three types of dance, played netball, football, volleyball, hockey, french lessons, as well as being involved in drama shows, performances, clubs, and many more social activities. There was not a day of the week I had free in school - I was always doing things. I thrive in social spaces and I have a love for being a part of things.
I am an engaged and hard worker, and have gotten academic awards in my school for all-round excellence. Although I always have a lot of energy, I know how to put my head down and do hard work.

I love nature and animals, and I am passionate about the environment and living sustainably. Growing up in New Zealand means having grown up outdoors; hiking, swimming, camping, adventuring. I would love to work on eco projects, caring for animals, anything outdoors. I don’t have a lot of experience with physical labour but I’m young and fit and keen to learn.

My main physical skills are cooking, cleaning, babysitting and gardening. My other skills are communication, adaptability, and reliability. These are what I have experience in, but I would also love to learn skills along the way. I’m open-minded, and truly up for anything - whether I have previous experience in it or not. I am enthusiastic and keen to learn new things!

I’m very much a person who wants to do everything possible! Since I love trying new things, I’m always down for an adventure. I’m passionate about the world and so SO curious about how it works! I love swimming, running, cooking, baking, hiking, laughing, and all round just living :) I'm super interested in learning Spanish, and have been trying to learn it on Duolingo for the past 2 years!! Since I'm from New Zealand, I also love good coffee and have high standards!
