  • Description

Hi!! I'm Emma and a recent graduate from Boston University. I am taking a gap year until I start my volunteer service in the PeaceCorps and eventually law school! I am 22 years old and originally from Texas in the United States. I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world for school and seasonal work during the summers and there's really nothing else I crave more than getting to work in new places, living in communities, and connecting with people and the planet! I do have many professional skills with a diverse background —I’ve interned at a legal firm in London, worked as a ropes course guide, lifeguarded, counseled at an overnight summer camp in California, and coached tennis and pickleball back home in Texas -- but I am very open minded and want to learn as many new skills as possible! I love a challenge! I am down for anything, especially if it's outside. Hope to see you soon! :)

  • More details about your skills

I'm a jack-of-all-trades with experience in everything from legal work to outdoor leadership. Here's a quick rundown:

I've worked at a law firm in London, analyzing case law and creating guides for clients. This experience honed my attention to detail and ability to navigate complex information.

As a ropes course guide and camp counselor in California, I've developed strong leadership and safety skills. I can handle physical challenges and keep a cool head in tricky situations, even while living in a cabin with kids for weeks at a time.

I've coached tennis and pickleball for all ages, from kids to adults. This has taught me patience, adaptability, and how to motivate others.

My experience at a country club and tennis club has made me a pro at creating welcoming environments and handling various tasks efficiently (ex. cleaning, serving guests, managing a shop).

I'm a quick learner who thrives in new environments. I'm always up for the challenge. My study abroad experience in London and travels across Europe have sharpened my ability to navigate unfamiliar situations with ease. I love being part of a community and taking on leadership roles.

As Vice President of Public Relations for my pre-law fraternity, I've honed my communication skills and ability to organize events - especially through the use of social media.
I'm also passionate about volunteer work, having led food rescue efforts and facilitated welcome parties for travelers at a hostel in Boston.

I'm no stranger to outdoor adventures and physical challenges. I've faced rockslides and mountain lions while hiking!

My diverse experiences have taught me to be flexible and adapt to different situations quickly. With a strong academic background and experience in writing and research, I can contribute to any project that requires analytical thinking or creative problem-solving.

In short, I'm an outgoing and hardworking individual who's ready to dive into new experiences, contribute to communities, and learn from every opportunity. I'm excited to bring my energy, skills, and positive attitude to any Workaway project!

  • What else ...

As a radio host and amateur DJ for my college radio station, I love sharing music with others and I LOVE dancing! Every Sunday, you'll find me at dance church (not religious, just a beautiful morning of dancing) letting loose! I love watching the sunset and I will force you to drop what you are doing to come watch it with me. Anyways, enough of me! Thank you for reading all of this! I am excited to become a part of your world if I am lucky enough!
