  • Description

As part of my Master's degree in Political Science in Paris, I am currently taking a gap year.

After a four-month internship at a think tank, I wanted to go abroad for a more immersive experience.

Workaway is a great opportunity for me, as it fulfills several of my goals: to challenge myself personally, meet new people, improve my English, discover a different culture, and get involved in meaningful projects.

Curious, open-minded, and proactive, I particularly enjoy human interaction and experiences that allow me to learn in a different way.

My bachelor's degree in political science in Lille, in northern France, extended my strong interest in history and sociology. This multidisciplinary program integrated social sciences and law, and allowed me to meet renowned professors. Having a keen interest in the analysis of political, cultural, and urban phenomena, I specialized in a Master's program in urban policy and territorial governance at Dauphine, a prestigious French university.
At the same time, I discovered the student life at the university. I was a member of Révolte-Toi Lille for three years. This is a student association focused on parliamentary debate and public speaking. In addition to honing my rhetorical writing and speaking skills, I became part of a group of friends.
In 2023, I met the members of the Pangea association, which supports exiled students. We were able to organize sports and cultural activities to promote their integration. This is also why I created French as a Foreign Language workshops, leading fun and educational exercises. I was elected treasurer of the association with the specific task of managing an emergency fund allocated by the University to help students in dire financial straits.
To finance my studies, I worked several student jobs: customer service representative, factory production worker, train surveyor, shelf stocker and cashier in a supermarket, and waiter in Emily's famous restaurant in Paris!
During my internship near Paris, I participated in projects aimed at promoting the region's appeal, particularly those related to film and culture. I wrote reports for elected officials, organized a forum for middle school students, and contributed to public communication projects. This experience allowed me to discover how a local government operates, to refine my writing skills, and to develop an interest in urban, cultural, and mobility issues.
During my second internship with the Transport and Mobility department in northern France, I contributed to the implementation of the Mobility Plan. I participated in awareness campaigns, the development of local partnerships, and "school streets" projects to improve public safety. This experience allowed me to see firsthand how public policies are translated into action on the ground.
Recently, I completed an internship at a think tank. I participated in organizing events and communicating about publications at the intersection of science and politics. I also contributed to public education workshops, working with speakers from the academic and political spheres. This experience allowed me to discover expert work and debates, while developing rigor, organizational skills, and a sense of commitment.
Currently, I'm developing projects at the intersection of social sciences, journalism, culture, and politics. A photography enthusiast, I'm working on documentary projects about popular culture, accompanied by reflective articles. My greatest pride is the creation of a vlog series on the municipal elections, blending firsthand accounts with socio-political analysis.
Workaway fits perfectly into my plan: to improve my English, discover a new culture, and open myself up to environments different from my everyday life—cultivating the versatility that defines me, at the crossroads of cultural, social, and human experiences. Following this year, I will write a dissertation, with the goal of pursuing a doctorate, potentially with fieldwork in an English-speaking country.
