  • Description

What motivates me and brings me happiness is, above all, nature and friends. I feel most alive when I’m in the mountains, spending my summers mountain biking and my winters ski touring, preferably with my friends. At the same time, I also value moments alone. I like to use that time to crochet; I’m far from being an expert, but I truly enjoy the process of creating something with my own hands.

In general, I find joy in the small things in life: the quiet of early mornings when the world is still asleep, having coffee in bed, laughing with friends, or reading through old diaries. I also appreciate simple moments like watching the sunset, breathing in fresh mountain air, or just being present and aware of my surroundings. These little things give me a sense of calm, gratitude, and genuine happiness.

Professionally, I am a physiotherapist, but sometimes I wonder whether I also have the potential to become a carpenter. I don’t think I’m particularly skilled at it yet, but I believe that if someone showed me how to work with wood and build things, I would enjoy it a lot. This is also why I often question why I chose to pursue a degree in health management after my physiotherapy training, as, to be honest, management is not really my thing. I would describe myself more as a hands-on, practical person rather than a theoretical one. But also love working with people and helping them to become stronger and healthier and help them with their issues. So maybe staying a physiotherapist also sounds like a good option.

As you can see, I don’t fully know yet where I want to go, and sometimes I wonder whether you ever truly feel like you’ve “arrived.” I am a very curious person and love trying new things and meeting new people.

  • More details about your skills

I don’t have any prior experience with Workaway, but after finishing high school in 2015, I spent about nine months in New Zealand, where I helped on kiwi and apple plantations. Over the years, I’ve worked a variety of jobs, especially in hospitality.

My grandparents own a farm in northern Germany, where I often helped out during the summers with tasks like cleaning the stables and feeding the animals. I always enjoyed that the most, as I rode horses for many years as a child and was also involved in their care.

I also like to try my hand at practical, hands-on tasks. While I’m not the most experienced when it comes to craftsmanship, mainly because I wasn’t really taught these skills earlier - I believe that with proper guidance and someone showing me how to do things, I can learn quickly and do well. Interestingly, one of the things I enjoy most is changing car tires.

Professionally, my main area of expertise is physiotherapy and training, and I’m always happy to contribute and help in this field. I have been working as a passionate physiotherapist since 2019, and I truly enjoy supporting people with their pain and challenges. Since last summer, I have also been volunteering at a retirement home, as I find it very rewarding to see how even just being present can bring joy to many elderly people.
