Hello, I’m Julia. I’m a traveler who is happiest in a garden with my hands in the soil or hiking somewhere beautiful. I left New York seven years ago and never looked back. Since then I’ve lived in several countries, including Croatia, Austria, Morocco, and Malaysia. I prefer slow travel, which lets me explore more deeply and truly understand each place and its culture.
I’m excited to improve my skills around sustainable living—permaculture in particular. Since I don’t yet have my own land, I use opportunities like Workaway to explore, learn, and help others with their gardens, farms, and other projects. I love hiking and collecting medicinal herbs from the wild, as well as saving seeds for seed bombs. I usually carry some interesting seeds with me, so we can trade!
After finishing my master's in Sustainable Design, the first thing I did is replace my father's green grass lawn with a pollinator-friendly garden full of perennial herbs, flowers and a few edibles. This was over 10 years ago, all the neighbors though I was crazy, but now, thankfully the world is catching up.
Recently I’ve become more involved in traditional herbalism and in learning about the power of plants and their relationship with humans. I’d love to learn more from locals, especially older people who once relied heavily on plants for wellbeing and survival. I’m excited to meet people who share similar interests, exchange stories and ideas, and learn from one another. I guess I'm looking for my tribe.Interests

More details about your skills
I have experience gardening, growing food and I am passionate about creating landscapes which are not only beautiful but beneficial for humans and wildlife. It’s my main passion right now, and I’d love to help you in those areas whether you’re starting from scratch, we can make a plan together, or you already have extensive knowledge that I can learn from.
Ideally, I’d love to work on projects focused on sustainable land development, farming and so on. Like no-dig growing or hugelkultur, for example.
I feel that having an undergrad degree in architecture and a masters in sustainable design really helps me make better choices when it comes to implementing growing methods and techniques. However, people's needs, landscapes, ideas are so different that there are unlimited ways to do things!
I love foraging wild plants and I can teach you what I know. My last gig was working for a German guy in Albania who is making cancer medicine from a local herb.
I love animals especially dogs, so I could definitely take your pet our for a walk or help you take care of them. I have only some experience with goats, chicken and 2 stubborn donkeys but I'd love to learn.
I speak English and Russian, so if you are interested in learning one of those, I could definitely teach you some :)Age

What else ...
I used to be a travel blogger a few years ago, you can check it out at TravelWithJules.com Since then I've had experience in working with SEO and have an interest in creating an online business, product or a brand. Iam just not sure which one exactly and need a marketing strategy. I can share what I know but still need to learn a lot, especially the technical stuff.
In Morocco I used to help my friend who owns one of the most popular hostels with social media, particularly Instagram. It was fun to make creative stories with our guests for a while but now I prefer walks in nature and growing stuff. Some more information
