  • Description

I'm currently traveling around the Netherlands looking to spend some time in the country I grew up in, work with all kinds of people, and perfect (or at least improve) my Dutch. I'm happy to try my hand at pretty much any work and have found from previous jobs I pick things up fairly quickly. I have lots of experience working with a range of animals, my expertise is in dogs as I helped run a pet daycare center for many years so have experience in training, caring for difficult pets, and some animal medicine. Growing up on and around farms I also have experience with horses, goats and other farm animals and have ridden and looked after horses on and off most of my life.
I also have experience looking after children, I worked for a youth adventure group for a year or so and have always been the designated babysitter for family and friends as I love kids. I would say I have a compassionate and sensitive approach to kids, I prefer to see how the caregivers approach child rearing and follow their lead. I'm pretty good with keeping kids occupied and giggling and love to do art with them and play imagination games.
I have been passionate about permaculture and sustainable farming since I was young and always love getting more hands-on experience and sharing my resources with who I can. I'm not afraid of hard work especially when working with other people it's often a wonderful experience, I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.
I am non-binary so I use they/them pronouns (die/hun) and I'm always open for conversations about my identity (you can't get it wrong you can only try don't worry!). I love reading philosophy and having interesting discussions about perspectives outside of my own.
I also have experience working in customer service jobs, children's after-school clubs and scouts, restaurants, receptionist, handy-person, mover, renovations and horse riding schools.

  • More details about your skills

I have experience working in a large petcare centre most often looking after around 7 dogs at a time. Growing up my parents and grandparents have had chickens, dogs, cats (including rescuing and rehabilitating feral cats and dogs), horses, geese, goats (I worked on a goat farm with over 60 goats, feeding and helping to maintain their areas) and cows. I've ridden and looked after horses since I was young and would be more than happy helping around with chores. I’m a community-orientated person and will work hard wherever you put me.
I love working with children and have experience working as a babysitter and I have a valid DBS check. I also have lots of experience working on and around permaculture farms and nature retreats, I have done some personal studying on permaculture and I would be more than happy to share my lectures and resources though having lived away for a while now I might need some refreshing but I'm always an enthusiastic learner. I love cooking and I'm a very creative person.
I have worked on a few building projects and grew up in a fixer-upper house and have done all sorts of painting and decorating and any handyman jobs we could do ourselves we would learn. I've also helped out building a few different animals shelter like chicken hutches, horse stalls, electric fencing etc and worked for a few weeks building the skeletal framing for a tiny home.
I’ve Travelled all my life, I go backpacking for the whole summer and love meeting new people and exploring new places, I try to keep a healthy lifestyle and enjoy rock climbing, horse riding and hiking, and always find something new to try. I’m a passionate activist when I can be and I enjoy going out in the city if I can but am more than have in the deep countryside getting my hands dirty.
