Hello and Bonjour my name is Eileen and I am Canadian. I grew up in the province of Ontario.

I am a retired French Immersion teacher with 4 grown children who thankfully are independent and responsible adults. I now have 5 grandchildren and with more to come.

I have lived in Quebec City, France (twice) and New Zealand (twice). I have travelled in other countries as well and have thoroughly enjoyed many of my experiences. They were definitely experiences that were difficult however these situations have given me the opportunity to grow.

Connecting with people from different cultures, provinces and countries gives me great pleasure. I enjoy being busy and so the idea of a working holiday is enticing. I am eager to learn and participate in environments that are new to me and would otherwise be out of reach.

I have done 5 workaways so far. I've helped on a llama rescue farm, a horse rescue farm, a sheep farm and worked on a property digging new gardens and maintaining established gardens. I also did small in-home projects for the family.

My last workaway was at a homestead beside Abel Tasman Park in the South island of New Zealand in January 2026. The host lived off grid on her 800 acre property. I helped by painting, collecting eggs, watering organic gardens, turning over compost, tending to the water pump on the hill to make sure the mountain water was indeed filling the enormous water tanks and cooking dinner.

I have completed three mission trips in Jamaica to teach guitar to young adults. I taught English at an all girls high school for three weeks in Longido, Tanzania in October 2025. What an incredible experience that was!!! It was mind blowing to see the zebras and giraffes along the side of the road.

I want to explore and learn and simply "be in the present."

I can work outdoors in virtually any capacity and am a team player. I have experience with horses as I use to be a barrel racer. I can dig and plant new gardens, teach, cook, bake and play guitar, piano, mandolin and ukulele.

Cheri and Viet were very welcoming. I learned a great deal about how they helped rescued horses become healthy. They have many outdoor cats, 8 dogs, several donkeys, a miniature pony called Snowflake and about 30 horses.
