  • Description

Hello, we are Charlie (33) and Caitlin (27), a couple who are heading to Canada in the Spring, both with 6 month full working Visas, looking for volunteering and paid work. We are from the countryside in the UK and are big nature lovers, we love climbing, hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking and all that kind of stuff! Caitlin is an Arborist and Charlie is a Gardener and Carpenter. A bit about each of us...

Charlie: I've been a gardener since i was a kid. I'm very interested in plants and have spent my live learning about them. I am also a Carpenter, a trade i've also been learning from my Dad since i was a kid. i live a pretty self sufficient life in a little house i made my self, but have decided to move to Canada for a bit to hopefully see a bit of the Americas before i get stuck here forever ! I have done a fair bit of traveling in the past around Europe, most of the time doing workaways but also in community's and have worked in hostels. I think I'm an easy person to live with, I'm very calm and peaceful and respectful but also like to have fun and be silly. I'm not fussy in any way, not bothered by much really . I'm happy in big groups but also happy on my own. When it comes to how i can help, I've worked outside with hands all my life so I'm a hard worker and dedicated to doing a good job whatever it may be. I have a good eye for detail, love to learn new skills and I'm happy to share what i know with another too. I can be pretty artistic when the mood takes me and I also love to cook. Things i like to do for fun: walking, exploring, swimming, dancing, listening to music, partying. playing cards, cooking, fishing, making sculptures and lots more. Thanks for reading, Charlie.

Caitlin: I've been an arborist for the last 4 years, I was surrounded by woodlands and trees growing up, always climbing them and learning about them. I've always been very driven to work in the conservation of trees, woodlands and forests. My career so far has taken me through a range of tree work , classic tree surgery work, lots of climbing including seed collecting and decorating large trees for Christmas light shows, working in an arboretum (Westonbirt) for a year, tree planting and forestry. I have a level 2 in arb qualification, as well as licences for chainsaws, tree felling, tree climbing and aerial rescue, a range of different rigging and rescue qualifications, Tractor licence, Gator licence, trailer, front end and back end loader etc. I also have in date FREC 3 first aid training with a focus on remote trauma. I always love doing anything tree related, but also love gardening and any practical work, I am a hard worker and always up for learning new things. I'm also always happy to share what I know. I also do lots of events work in the summers here in the UK, doing the building of festival sights and working in a catering tent. My work before getting into Arboriculture included many years in the customer service industry, working in cafes and restaurants, catering, nannying and cleaning so I am always up for helping out with these kinds of things too. I'm also a keen musician, with a degree in music and have have taught drumming to people of a range of ages and abilities throughout my life so hey, can always offer that if anyone fancies! I've travelled in Asia and South America doing a range of volunteering and workaways while there. I'm enthusiastic, playful and love the simple joys of life, being out in nature, fun activities, good food and getting to know people. I'm very practical and love trying new scary things, I'll always give something a go. I'm very sociable but also very happy doing my own thing and am also not fussy at all, happy to fit in! Thanks a lot! Caitlin.

We are looking to find a place to stay for at least a month, although we are very flexible and can easily stay for less time or if it works out we'd be happy to stay for longer. We like to really get to know a place instead of moving around a lot , and are so excited to learn more about and get to Know parts of Canada.
