Description
I love to explore the world and find new experiences, big and small.
Right now I'm especially interested in exploring alternative ways of living, ways which are more connected with the natural world and which allow us to flourish in community together. I'm hoping to visit some projects where people are experimenting with these ideas, to lend my support whilst also learning about how to make these ideas a reality, perhaps with a view to helping build something similiar back home in Scotland.
My other motivation for volunteering now is to learn and develop new skills, especially practical ones like construction, repair and gardening. I also love learning languages so any opportunities to do so will be a big bonus for me.
After some years of office work, I qualified as a massage therapist. This is a skill which I'm still developing and so I'm happy to practice when the opportunity arises, as well as to share what I've learned about health from a holistic approach.
I love being active, whether playing sports, hiking, or creating something new. I also love to read, play games and chat but also to try to find time for a little stillness in my day.
I will be bringing my enthusiasm and willingness to learn and share wherever the road takes me :) -

More details about your skills
I have a lot of academic skills (I studied economics and politics at university). I can read and write well and I have a few years experience working in project management so am good at planning, as well as using software like Excel.
I have also studied sports and remedial massage therapy, so I know a lot about the human body and how to train it, look after it and help it to heal. This has been my second job recently and maybe one day my full time career as I find it really interesting and enjoy working with people to help them become healthier.
I'm quite musical and can play the drums, as well as a little bit of guitar.
I love sports and have some ball skills and a lot of frisbee skills (I play ultimate and disc golf!)
I would say I'm a pretty good cook too :) -

Woody and Ema create a wonderful atmosphere in their beautiful village hostel - I found them very approachable, relaxed and easy to work with. Work generally starts around 11 but there's flexibility and trust - you won't feel micromanaged here. Guests and volunteers share meals together which means that as a volunteer you … read more
