Description
Hi! I am Cát Linh and I was born in Northern California. After a life changing study abroad experience in Mexico while I was in college, I decided to move to Vietnam to reconnect with my culture and understand my family's story. I lived there and taught English to children of all different ages in 3 different schools, one being one of the first Waldorf schools in Vietnam.
I love connecting with people through stories and laughs, learning new languages, cooking, sewing, reading, and teaching. In America I worked fulltime as a preschool teaching assistnant and part time as a bike mechanic at a community bicycle repair shop where we teach people to fix their own bike.
Now I am travelling to different countries to volunteer and learn about organic farming. I would like to learn how to live a more sustainable life so I can have the tools and resources to help people and create more food security in my community. Food is extremely important to me. To share a meal is to share a ritual, create a connection between cultures, to build a bridge...Im passionate about cooking and learning new ways of eating in different cultures from people I meet.
I strive to be kind, thoughtful, considerate, and respectful. I am always willing to share, help, and do the best I can. I am community lead and believe in international solidarity.
Right now I am learning and practicing Non Violent Communication and mindfulness meditation.
I have many skills to share and I love sharing them with others by way of teaching. I can teach sewing by hand or machine, crochet, knitting, mending, darning, cooking, bicycle repair, and Vietnamese or English. I used to be proficient in Spanish but its not as good anymore. I would love to practice again!:)
I have experience in weeding, mulching, composting, harvesting, digging, and not afraid of manual labor in the sun! I am interested in learning more about planting vegetables from seed and how to prune trees.
Lastly, I believe in creating friendships wherever I go, and I hope to create deep, meaningful relationships that foster a global community.
I hope to connect soon! Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me!

More details about your skills
Hi! I am Cát Linh and I was born in Northern California. I now live in Santa Cruz, in a beautiful area that is a 10 minute walk away from the beach. I love connecting with people, learning new languages, cooking, sewing, reading, and teaching. In my free time I work part time as a bike mechanic at a community bicycle repair shop, go skateboarding with my friends, and cook elaborate meals with my loved ones. I am kind, thoughtful, considerate, and respectful. I am always willing to share, help, and do the best I can. I have also been told I have an infectious laugh, so I hope we can laugh together!
My passion is teaching and I am obsessed with language. I got my bachelors in Linguistics and UC Santa Cruz and my dream is to become an ESL teacher for children and adults alike. I currently teach as an instructional aide in a AMI certified Montessori preschool. Seeing students use the tools they are learning and finding who they are through the process is what motivates me - educating others is a community practice that I believe is an integral component to creating peace.
I want to travel to Vietnam to visit the land where my family is from and connect with my culture, which I did not get to experience living in the US. Family is extremely important to me and I would like to learn Vietnamese more to talk to them. I am eager to learn anything I can about the country my ancestors are from.
I have so many skills to share and I am extremely confident in my self. I would be happy to travel to you and help your dreams come to fruition. I believe in creating community wherever I go. Working together is how we will flourish!
I hope to connect soon! Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me!

What else ...
I am a textile artist and I love to create clothing, bags, jewelry, embroidery, patchwork, sashiko stitching, mending, crocheted dolls and purses.
I started learning how to sew last year and that has been a great outlet for my creativity and focus.
I have taught a crochet class at my town's community center as well as a mountain of friends how to crochet.
I love bicycling and have recently gotten into the thrill of mountain biking. I also have been skateboarding now for four years, and it is one of my favorite things to do when the sun is out.

From the beginning Kwan was extremely transparent with communication and responded quickly, reassuring when I would come and what I could expect to do, even when there was some complications with planning, we stayed patient with each other and I am so grateful!
