  • Description

    Hi, My name is Aaron.

I'm 25, and I've been working as an mechanical engineer since completing my masters. While engineering was something I enjoyed for a long time, I know that I want to leave my desk job and pursue a new avenue in life.

I very much enjoy building things and spending time doing physical labor. I enjoy the feeling of creating something tangible that you can see. I enjoy gardening, working on my car, and various other projects. My hobbies include hiking and astrophotography.

Currently I am undertaking an effort to teach myself Spanish. I also volunteer with Spanish speakers who are permanent residents working to obtain full citizenship here in the United States.

Hope to get to know you.
    Aaron

  • More details about your skills

My non-engineering experience includes retail and warehouse experience at a used bookstore which included operation of electric pallet stackers and pallet jacks to move 2 ton crates of books, operation of truck liftgates, and fixturing large items with ratchet straps. I have helped set up and plant a community garden. I have also done some light work on my own car and have helped run a community observatory. I also have been learning Spanish and volunteering with permanent residents in the process of obtaining full citizenship in the United States. I have always enjoyed problem solving. In the era of YouTube university, I don't think learning any skill is out of reach as long as you can be handy and not allow yourself to be intimidated.

As an engineer I have experience with design, analysis, and rapid prototyping of electronics packaging. In addition to standard metal parts design I have experience with composite and sheet metal design and accompanying fabrication/manufacturing knowledge for these purposes. I also have experience with model based design and analysis for proposals as well as draft production, correction, and review for mechanical drawings. Importantly I also perform operation of large manufacturing machinery for production of prototypes as well as standard 3D printing for on the fly fixturing and solutions when necessary. I also have knowledge of mathematics and in several programming languages. Additionally, I have worked on more abstract engineering concepts as well as robotics.

My goal is to leave my desk job, work with my hands, and gain more experiences in all aspects of life. Specifically I am looking for a building project, something on a farm, garden, in nature such forestry, or something with vehicles or other unique projects. I am also enjoying the volunteering I do and would also likely enjoy work in a school or other community outreach project.
