Description
Hi!
I am Gil. Entrepreneur, eternal student of philosophy, psychology, mythology, ceramist, and animal lover.
After 20 years abroad, I now live in Porto, just in front of the river Douro and with a canine companion that came from Brazil 4 years ago. The neighbourhood is very quite but quite central. We have river views, nice parks around, close to the botanical garden, nice restaurants and 5 min from the historical center.
I'm looking for kind, responsible animal lovers who would enjoy staying here in exchange for taking care of her while I'm away. She loves walks, company, and a relaxed routine, so if you're someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with dogs, we'll probably be a great match.
In return, you'll have the chance to experience Porto like a local. I'll happily share my favorite cafés, restaurants, markets, museums, beaches, viewpoints, and hidden corners that most visitors never discover. If our schedules overlap, I'd also enjoy sharing a meal, a glass of Portuguese wine, or simply exchanging stories about our countries and cultures, Porto is full of them. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
For me, Workaway is about sharing experiences, learning from one another, and creating genuine connections.
I live in Porto with my dog and enjoy a lifestyle that combines creativity, entrepreneurship, and the outdoors. During your stay, you could experience everyday life as a local rather than as a tourist.
One of the things I'm passionate about is ceramics. I have a small ceramic studio at home where I enjoy creating pieces. If you're curious, I'd be happy to share the creative space together.
I also run a company that offers experiences aboard classic wooden boats on the Douro River. If the opportunity arises, I'd love to show you the boats and share the history behind them.
Another project close to my heart is a small music bar in Porto. If you're staying while there's an event or concert, you're welcome to join.
Whenever our schedules allow, I'd be happy to share meals, recommend my favourite cafés, markets, beaches, hiking trails, and hidden corners of the city, or simply spend time talking over a coffee or a glass of Portuguese wine. I also enjoy discussing travel, business, creativity, philosophy, and different ways of living, and I always learn something new from the people I host.
I hope you'll feel like you're staying in a real home, not just a place to sleep. I want Workawayers to feel welcome, comfortable, and part of the household. Mutual respect, kindness, and open communication are very important to me.
In return, I'm looking for someone who genuinely loves dogs and will enjoy giving mine the care, companionship, and daily walks she needs while I'm away. If you're responsible, curious, open-minded, and interested in authentic cultural exchange, I'm sure we'll both have a memorable experience. -
Help
I need to travel for business and sometimes on leisure and I would love to have someone to stay at home and give some attention, love and walks with my dog Serena. She is a lovely pit-bull with a lot of energy and quite dominant with other dogs. I normally go out 3 times a day but during summer if it's too hot two times is good.
