Hi, I´m Sophie from Germany. I LOVE getting to know new people and listen to their stories. I love to share my own knowledge and make people happy because that´s what makes me happy. :)
I graduated from university in July(sports science) and decided I want to get to know the world better.
More about me:
I swim since 13 years and in 2020 I started to be a coach for kids and teenagers. Besides swimming I also like playing volleyball, riding my bike and going to the gym.
I really love food haha, especially getting to know typical food of other countries and also cooking and cooking together. :)

I studied sports science and I teach kids how to swim.
As a coach, I’ve worked a lot with children and teenagers, especially in sports.

The farm is truly a wonderful place. In the middle of the jungle, you are surrounded only by the sounds of animals and the river. You sleep in a cute cabin and have access to a kitchen and the house’s veranda. It is a very special place and quite comfortable.

At first, I wanted to stay for one month. Then I thought, okay, let’s do two – and in the end, I stayed for three months and didn’t want to leave (October–December 2025). In the mornings, I worked in the kindergarten, which opened in September, so at the beginning there were not many children. Over time, however, it grew, which was very nice to see. I helped the kids with their drawings, played Lego with them, helped them with their merienda, and took part in circle time with them. Most of the time everything was in Spanish, but during circle time they also learn English songs and stories, and they get some English input during the tasks they do.
After kindergarten, I received delicious food from María (she helps with the household). Most of the time she cooks typical Honduran food, so you get to learn a lot about Honduran cuisine. :)
After lunch, I prepared the English lessons, which take place from Monday to Wednesday from 3–5 p.m. The first hour is with beginners and the second hour with intermediate to advanced students. Each class has about 6–10 students.
Twice a week, I taught German in the evenings. So if you speak German and would like to teach classes, I think there would be some interested people. I also heard people talking about wanting to learn French, so teaching French classes might be a possibility too.

Working with kids can be exhausting sometimes, haha, but I still enjoyed it a lot. And in the kindergarten, you are never alone – Ana is always there to help you and answer questions.
The afternoon classes were fun too. The students are older (9–30 years), and most of them are eager to learn. Be prepared to listen to a lot of jokes and an incredible number of questions, haha.

In my free time, I went for walks with Ana and Carol, went to the gym, visited nearby cities with friends, went hiking to waterfalls and hot springs, met up with friends, or just relaxed.
It is not necessary to speak Spanish, but it is helpful for the beginners’ class and also very, very helpful for making friends and talking to people in town, since most of them don’t speak English.

The room was great. It is very big, and you can watch beautiful sunsets. :) You also have a kitchen and a bathroom (without a shower). The shower is downstairs in the school, so you can only shower when there are no kids. However, you can sign up at the gym and shower there too (there is even hot water!! :) ). The Wi-Fi in the room is not very good, but downstairs in the school it works well.

All in all, I am very grateful for the experience that Ana, Carol, and María offered me. I learned a lot about Honduran culture, whether it was food, language, traditions, or how life works there.
Ana, Carol, María, and all the other wonderful people I met there – thank you so much! I miss you and am really looking forward to seeing you again! <3
