Description
Live in vehicles always welcome.
We´re looking for help with a 20 ha permaculture project born in 2008. The land comprises agricultural and forestry land, all of which we intend to make productive over the coming months and years.
We keep pigs and poultry, and have cats and dogs as domestic pets, all of whom need lots of attention.
We´re located in a beautiful peaceful location, but are within walking distance of the village. We're lucky to have a good range of local facilities close by, including wi-fi internet, and are easy to reach via public transport.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Your hosts live and teach permaculture, hosting PDCs and other courses on site. Here you'll have an opportunity to experience practical application and be part of maintaining and developing an emergent project.
We attract visitors from around the world so you can socialise on site or walk to our local bar in the next village.Help
Current projects include renovating the house, installing irrigation systems including RAM pumps, expanding and maintaining our vegetable gardens, planting native trees, building animal shelters, clearing forest, soil improvement and, well, just about everything else!! There's no shortage of different things to do, and lots of variety. Both skilled and unskilled help welcomed, experience isn´t required. We ask that guests stay for a minimum of two weeks, and preference will be given to those who can stay for longer.

We have camping space and basic caravan / truck accommodation. Live in vehicles very welcome. It's important to realise that our facilities are basic and this is not the place to visit if you're looking for luxury.
We´re happy to accommodate children with prior discussion, and we´re pleased to work with larger groups (eg Scouts, youth groups). What else ...
We usually host a number of volunteers at any one time, and run permaculture and related courses in the summer months, so this can be a great place to socialise as well as chill out. We speak English at home, but there´s plenty of opportunity to practice your Portuguese if you would like.

Don't go there because the weather is superb.

Very welcome back if ever the winds of adventure blow her back to Portugal.
Marie got on with everything that needed doing with energy and a smile, coped admirably with everything we passed her way, and became a really valued member of the team. We'd love to see her, and Paula, again one day.
Angel showed a real affinity for our animals, and I think the dogs miss her still ;) (there are puppies now Angel, come on back!!!)

We wish him well on his future adventures, and hope he'll come and see us again if they bring him our way.
BUT, I had an absolutely brilliant time on the farm. Really bloody cold at night so make sure you have a thick sleeping bag and get lots of fire wood in. Other than that I had a lot of fun and was made to feel super welcome. I plan to return in the warmer months. Thank you x
Both were independent and dedicated workers. More importantly though, they were great folk to have around, fitted into our way of life seamlessly, and showed a genuine interest in our project.
