  • Description

Kalina - Heyo! My name is Kalina, I came to be in 1999 and I'm just a Bulgarian lady who loves to explore and try new things. I've been moving around ever since I've graduated high school and I like to change things up once I get used to them, so traveling is something I thrive on. My biggest weakness has to be sweets, so I aim to bake as often as I can ;)

Sander - Hi! My name is Sander and come from Norway. I truly enjoy Workaway because of all the people you get to meet, but also for the huge diversity of things you get to experience, skills you get to pick up, and situations you get to put yourself in. It’s a while since I started with volunteering now. I do not think the beginning had anything lacking, but it’s a while since then and I’ve certainly learnt a lot. We are serious about our volunteering and expect equal from the hosts. You’ll want your volunteers to be adaptable and capable when you host them, and that’s where you’ll find us.

  • More details about your skills

Kalina - I have some experience with volunteer work from my high school days, as helped out with some charity events at the Red Cross and the Rotary Club in my hometown. I have also partaken in many DIY projects - painting, sparkling, sanding, installing drywall, laying parquet, and some others. The project I most learned from is definitely the fix-up my family and I have been doing on the second floor of our house, which was purely just bricks when we first bought it.

What brings me the most joy is doing things in the best way I can, so I am eager to learn and help out with anything.

Sander - Having done plenty of volunteering work means that we’ve picked up a lot of skills. This has given us the opportunity to diversify our skillset and having more to offer for our next project. Below are skills I comfortably consider myself to be capable with.

    Labor work/farming -
General farming and outdoor/gardening work - weeding, trimming, mowing, cutting, the use of a chainsaw, raking, planting, digging etc. These tasks can be pretty straight forward, but nevertheless it needs to be done, and we are in tip top shape for it.

    Music
I have a Bachelors degree in music, and will gladly teach my skill. Drums are my specialty.

    Carpentry
All though I am not a professional carpenter, I do enjoy working with wood and never miss an opportunity to hone my skill with it. If you have any DIY projects or need a helping hand, I’ll be your man. I have experience with tools and jobs such as electronic saws and sanding machines, sparkling, painting, building, cutting wood etc.

    Animals
I’ve been surrounded by animals the better part of my life and consider myself to be more than capable on the subject. I haven’t been around every kind of animal, but would love the opportunity to meet some new ones.

    Cooking
Making food has been a passion of mine for a long time, and though it didn’t happen over night, I now consider myself to be quite capable with it. I’ll comfortably cook food if need be.

    Maintenance
General maintenance and tidying up is another one that should be added to the list. Again, not anything complicated but we have plenty of experience with it, and it always comes to good use.

    25 & 28

  • What else ...

Kalina - I'm interested in pottery, I really want to learn! Hobbies of mine are hiking, baking, painting and crafting, and I hope in the future I can get more into thru-hiking. I used to be really into yoga, and despite me not doing it as much these days, It still holds a special place in my heart.

Sander - Here are some of my hobbies and what I feel I have the possibility of teaching if wanted. I enjoy swimming, skating, and skiing. I also enjoy board games, video games, and hiking.
