Description

My partner Sebastian and I have been living in New Zealand, Aotearoa, since Oct 2024, travelling all over and living in Wellington for a year. We are very excited to be getting the ferry over to the south island in Feb for our next adventure!

I have been travelling on and off for the past 3 years. At the end of 2023, I spent 3 months solo-travelling southern Europe and experienced my first workaways in Portugal and Spain. I love exploring off the beaten track, immersing myself in nature, and being part of communities that live differently. I am really interested in sustainable systems of living and want to learn how I can better my relationship with this beautiful world we live in. Above all else, I want to challenge myself, help others, and see where the adventure takes me :)

I really want to learn German. I have a Bachelors degree in English and therefore feel confident I would be able to teach it. I am a great proof-reader and editor and so happy to help with any writing! Being in NZ, I would also love to learn Māori.

I am enthusiastic, hard-working and up for new challenges. I first experienced workaway in 2023 and completely threw myself into every opportunity presented to me. Some of the projects I took part in included: building a stone wall, harvesting and curing olives, cultivating an acre of land, baking bread, cooking for 20+ people, building a mosaic path, fixing an irrigation system, and wiring an electric fence.

During our time travelling the north island we have visited several workaways. We have helped out on farms, lifestyle blocks and baches. We also did some house and petsitting! The work was very varied, we tended to gardens, oversaw rental properties, looked after farmland and animals. It was amazing being fully immersed in the NZ countryside and we can't wait to return!

I really want to continue to expand my DIY and horticultural skills, especially the art of growing veggies and feeling more confident with construction. I have been vegan for 7 years and am passionate about environmentalism, animal welfare, and sustainable living. Some of my previous workaways have had spiritual elements, which is also something I am also interested in. I love talking about life and being exposed to new perspectives.

I have experience house-sitting, pet-sitting and child-minding. I have worked with young children, including experience with children of different abilities and languages. As a dog owner myself, I am very comfortable with animals. At a previous workaway, I was in charge of three 60–75 kg Portuguese mountain dogs and absolutely loved it! Since I was 18 I have worked in restaurants and a myriad of other customer service roles, I am confident cooking, cleaning, and work well with other people.

I achieved a First Class degree studying English at university and so I feel very confident in my ability to teach English. I also studied film and, aside from travelling, filmmaking is my biggest passion. I am most interested in documentary and experimental filmmaking. I am a lover of all the arts and would love to spend more of my time being creative.
