Our property is on the shore of the Waimea Inlet near Mapua. The estuary is home to many wading birds and much of our work is revegetating the estuary margin. We are part of Department of Conservation/Community project to increase numbers of several endangered wading birds by restoring their natural habitat and trapping predators. There is also lots to do in our orchard and vegetable garden. We have 3 holiday cottages on the property, and occasionally helpers need to assist with various tasks around the cottages and helping tourists.

Travellers can learn about our habitat restoration project, and about the birds and plants around our beautiful tidal inlet.
Autumn/Winter work is planting and weeding around the inlet shore. Spring/Summer it is mostly vegetable gardening and orchard work.

We have a comfortable caravan with heating and fast fibre internet. Also a separate bathroom and kitchen for helpers. We provide all food. Volunteers make meals in their own kitchen. There are lots of fresh herbs and vegetables and fruit in the garden.
We have bicycles you can borrow to go to the village or to explore the Great Taste Cycleway and kayaks for the Inlet. There are 3 National Parks closeby for helpers who like to go tramping .
