  • Description

Sophie is studying to be a science teacher so I have a great love for teaching, fostering curiosity in young people, and creating a welcoming environment. I grew up on a farm in rural Ireland so I have a great love for nature and animals. I have a great love for the Irish language, and worked in a Gaeltacht (Irish language camp), so I would really like to share “cúpla focal” (a few words) with you! I’m a trained bartender and barista so whether you fancy a good cup of coffee, or something a little stronger, I’m happy to make you it! I really enjoy the atmosphere of hostel life, as you get to know people from around the world and learn so many new things. I’m an extremely friendly person, and I’ve often been told that I’d talk the ear off a doorknob! While saying this, it’s also important to note that I’m also a good listener, and always pay attention to detail when doing things.

Nicholas has just graduated university with a degree in Finance and Economics. I am 24 years of age, half Irish and half Italian. I like pushing myself outside of my boundaries, as how else are you supposed to discover yourself. In life my inspiration comes from a simple philosophical quote "what if?", the missed opportunity, the chance to make a difference, or the ability to succeed at your goals. As for the purpose in my life, well I've yet to figure that out. I'm an avid traveller with a passion for languages of which I currently speak four (English, Irish, Spanish and Italian). Travelling for me is about meeting new people, immersing yourself and learning about cultural differences and traditions, away from that place you call home. I gained this from my mother, a native Italian from Toscana, where my family and I had the privilege of going to each year. Workaway for me is the chance to discover new places, learn new skills, and find that favourite spot in a new unexplored area.

  • More details about your skills

Last Summer, Nick and I spent 2 months in Spain working in hostels and guesthouses using a similar site, WorldPackers. We gained experience in cleaning, cooking, and general maintenance. Sophie also has over 5 years experience working in hospitality, working as a waitress, bartender, barista, and event manager. Nick also has experience in the industry, in particular working in kitchens as a commie chef and kitchen porter.
We are both very quick learners and are always up for a challenge!
