Hello, I'm Jonathan from Newfoundland, Canada.

I've worked as an English teacher for over ten years in Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Germany.

My volunteer experiences include:

- Ecovillage Lifestyle Experience Week course at Gaia Ashram in Nong Khai, Thailand
- Volunteer Stay helping program participants with farming and daily tasks at Asia Rural Institute (ARI) in Tochigi, Japan (https://ari.ac.jp/en/about/)
- 3-month volunteer stay at Peace & Permaculture Dojo in Chiba, Japan with activist Kai Sawyer & family (https://peaceandpermadojo.wixsite.com/home)
- picking wild mushrooms (chanterelles, boletes) with author and professional forager Shawn Dawson in Newfoundland (https://boulderbooks.ca/product/the-foragers-dinner-finding-harvesting-and-preparing-newfoundland-labradors-edible-plants/)
- winter cleaning and feeding chores at The French Duck in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia with ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, horses, rabbits, goats
- teaching North Korean refugees in Seoul with TNKR
- teaching refugees and new Canadian citizens with ANC and RIAC in Newfoundland, Canada

I enjoy: writing, drawing, cooking, playing with kids, language exchange, running, hiking, surfing, swimming, and playing music.

I don't enjoy: office work, smartphones.

Jonathan joined us last minute and took excellent care of our cat while we were away on tour. He was easy to communicate with, kind, and genuinely caring. We felt completely at ease knowing our home and cat were in good hands. We’re very thankful for his help and would happily recommend him to other hosts.

They were away on tour when we were first in contact, but communication was always prompt and clear. Jonathan was a pleasure to have come stay a month at our off grid acreage outside Dawson YT.
He worked well independently and at times w little direction.
Jonathan is also great w kids and was flexible and able to adapt quickly w our changing schedules.

I spent a month at Matty's in Sunnydale and had a great time taking care of the dogs and helping with gardening and painting.
