Hello!
I’m Mia, 21 years old, and I’m a mix of German, English and Indian. I speak English and German. I did my first Workaway when I was 18 - and carried on travelling!

I grew up in England and was lucky enough to love horses and take care of my own until he sadly passed away when I was 17. I still look after two mares at the stables I grew up at whenever I’m at home - we have always had near to 50 horses on site, and it is a very no nonsense environment. I’m used to waking up at 5am everyday and working until the evening! I’ve done some odd jobs like painting, cleaning gutters and roof tiles and creating some interesting fences out of whatever we could find.

I have worked in a zoo with a range of animals, and also as a gardener in the zoo. We have a collection of bats, and this became my favourite thing - I went to Australia so that I could spend three months at the end of 2025 helping raise over 200 orphaned spectacled flying fox pups, a critically endangered species.

I can cook a little and bake a lot, I’m more than happy to help in any way I can. I like to immerse myself full on and take every opportunity to do and see something new! I truly love Workaway and the lifelong friends I’ve made from it.

I’m vegetarian as I was raised so - being around meat doesn’t bother me (I worked in the meat room at the zoo!)
I have a manual driving licence.
I don’t smoke or drink alcohol at all.
I like to run a few times a week and love to enjoy a scenic cycling route!

I have worked as a gardener in a zoo. I am happy to get my hands dirty and help outdoors in all weather!

I've been a teacher, co ordinator and senior leader for an English teaching summer camp for kids in Germany for several weeks in holiday seasons over the past three years.

When the owner of the stables has gone away for the weekend I have been in charge over the weekend (50 horses).
