**Currently at home but I am planning my travel for the New Year!**

Hi all!! My name is Marin, it's nice to meet you!

I grew up exploring the Canadian Rockies and was lucky enough to have gone on road trips around Canada and the USA. This upbringing has left me with a burning passion for travelling and now that I am older and on my own, I take advantage of my freedom to explore new places as often as I can :)

In the summer, I work in the mountains for the National Parks. I spend my time hiking and exploring outdoors. When the season ends, I try to go abroad to either work or travel in new countries!
In past years, I lived in Japan for 6 months working in a traditional guesthouse, I spent many months exploring and helping with permaculture projects in Australia and parts of Southeast Asia, and most recently I interrailed around Western Europe reuniting with many of the friends I'd met on previous travels!

I am now looking forward to my next adventure! Maybe I can join you? ^^

* I currently work in Banff National Park as a ranger, monitoring highways and campgrounds, human-wildlife interactions/conflicts, and taking care of visitors. Sometimes I am required to do manual labour tasks such as fixing and maintaining facilies and trails. It is an incredibly fast paced environment so I am very good at adapting and problem solving on the go.

Here are some of my past work experiences, skills, and interests so you can decide if I am right for your Workaway! In no particular order:

- I have experience using most power tools and have basic carpentry skills from helping on my friend's properties and repairing facilities at work. If you need wood chopped, fences fixed, potholes filled or a shack built-I'm your girl!

- Good with kids, and love to spend time with them! I worked for many years as a swim teacher and coach for children ages 4-10. I also babysit often for ages 4-15 :)

- Standard First Aid, CPR & AED (Level C) Certified!

- Experience with all kinds of animals. I have personally owned and cared for dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles. I have worked on and off as a hand in my aunts stables with horses (mucking stalls, grooming, tacking, etc.). I grew up riding (English mostly, but I prefer Western) but since moving to the city I haven't been able to-this is something that I miss! A few times I've looked after hobby farms with cattle, donkeys and sheep. **This is the area I am looking for more experience in as I hope to own a small ranch one day!!**

- Customer service! I have experience hosting in restaurants, greeting and guiding guests at events, educating and monitoring the public in the National Parks, being a cashier and ticket seller, and much more. I enjoy speaking to people and am great at communicating with customers.

- Decent cook! I mostly cook for myself or small groups of friends. I enjoy the social aspect of it most, but I would be willing to do it as a job, too. I have worked professional food service jobs in all areas including line cook, dishwasher, and waitress.

- Technologically literate! I can help you create a website or manage a social media page. I have some graphic design and video editing experience.

- Artsy! I am always creating with a new medium. I love to paint, sculpt, carve, sew, embroider and make stained glass art. Usually, it is just for myself, but in the past I have designed logos for businesses, painted materials for schools, and created infographics for social media posts.

- Caretaking experience! I am happy to help clean and/or organize your home or property!

- Licensed skipper and coastal navigator! It's been a while, but I love sailing and being on the ocean.

- Strong swimmer! I am capable of working in or near water. I used to teach people how to swim and I would freedive as a hobby!

- Experienced driver! All kinds of cars, all kinds of conditions and roads; clean driving record! I can also operate motorcycles, scooters, ATVs and some tractors.

- Experienced outdoors and I am very wildlife aware. I have had many wild animal encounters and crazy weather/nature situations while hiking, backpacking, paddling and camping. I am well equipped to handle all kinds of outdoor scenarios!

- Hesitant to add this one but there are many artsy people here, so I figured why not haha! I have recently picked up the fiddle/violin!! I am NOT great, but I love it and am learning fairly quickly. If you're keen for a slightly (maybe very..) out-of-tune jig, I'll do my best :P

Some of my favourite things to do include hiking, spending time with animals, photography/filmmaking, reading, swimming, art, history, camping, watching movies, Formula 1, writing, and much more. I have a big interest in environmental and animal conservation.
