    Activities i am interested in:

I am currently living and working at home in Wiltshire but I am looking for work aways in rural South Korea and North Macedonia, to learn farming techniques and sustainable living.

  • Description

Hello! My name is Lydia, I am a curious and friendly 23 year old with British and Macedonian roots, currently based in the UK. I grew up in a small countryside town where my love for the outdoors originated. Being immersed in nature, identifying plants, birds and mushrooms is where I feel most at home!

I am passionate about living holistically, simply and the chance to learn from like minded people, gaining meaningful experiences along the way.

I am particularly excited to learn more about sustainable farming, working with organic materials and experiencing rural life. We can learn so much from the earth and traditional techniques, how materials are grown, harvested and transformed. I am an artist whose practice revolves around folk traditions, with a particular focus on materials and their origins. I love exploring how different communities connect with the earth and each other through art - but also gaining knowledge from the earth to help build sustainable and healthy futures for communities.

I can't wait to meet new people, share stories, and grow my knowledge while contributing to the communities that I work with!

I would love to teach people english and in turn learn their language. I love languages and taught myself Hangul, (the Korean alphabet) and know a lot of words and basic phrases. I would love to expand my Korean. My mother is Macedonian so I can also understand simple Macedonian and the Cyrillic alphabet but would love to improve and learn.

  • More details about your skills

    Skills:

    - I studied Fine Art with Creative Computing for 4 years and graduated last year!

    - I have experience in Woodworking, DIY, Pottery, Gardening, Plant Identification, Filmmaking, Metalwork, Printmaking and Photography.

-My grandfather had a collection of greenhouses, so I have experience picking tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and various berries.

    - I am an avid walker, and enjoy skipping/boxing to keep physically fit. So I have the ability for manual or outdoor working environments.

    - I have worked as a receptionist, cafe worker, gallery worker and on small production film sets as a team, so I have had much experience with the public and working as a group. I strive off of social interaction and bouncing off each other.

    - I am flexible, pick up new skills quickly and thrive when given challenging tasks.

    - I have done house, pet and babysitting since I was young.

    - I am a passionate cook, learning traditional Macedonian recipes from my grandmother and often trying new recipes. I love sharing food, trying new food and cooking for other people!

    Volunteer work:

I am relatively new to volunteer work but consider myself an eager learner to discover new ways of doing things and approaching life.

    - Before university I volunteered with an all girls sports group, to aid their confidence and teach them new skills in sports and teamsmanship.

    - I volunteered as a camera assistant and bts photographer for a small feature film. I aided the team where they needed me. It was a lot of fun and this is where I realised surrounding yourself with like minded people who are creating and growing together, could bring so much joy.

I am eager to delve into organic farming and the intimate workings within a sustainable environment. It is something I feel passionate about and would love to gain more experience of. I am aiming to go down a horticultural route with my studies but for the moment I would love to get a grasp first hand of people's approaches and way of life, helping/protecting the environment and discovering a variety of practices.

  • What else ...

I enjoy making pottery, from mugs and plates to candlesticks and funny little animals! It is such a lovely process to make something by hand and then glaze and fire them. I often gift and sell my pieces in a local shop!

In my free time I often whittle - anything from spoons to animals and most recently butter knives. I enjoy the slow process and the beautiful handcrafted objects you get from the hard work.

I love walking to search for mushrooms and spotting wildlife. I often try to identify mushrooms but don't forage them as much as I would like. I mostly forage blackberries, rosehips and other various fruit. I am also a big bird fan! I am often listening out for their different bird calls and identifying them.

I am adaptable and open-minded, and can live and spend time with anyone, no matter what nationality, religion, sexuality or age.
