Description
We (Sarah, Moritz and our two children) live in a pretty rural area, that is however not so far away from vienna (~40km) and the regional "capital" St. Pölten (~15km). We live on a small farmhouse that provides us living here with fruits and vegetables (at least in summer). We also have chicken. Conservation of the harvested veggies and fruits is one of the things we are really interested at the moment - especially fermentation! We are both work part time in the field of social work. We try to share the "job" of taking care of our kids equally.
For the end of 2022 we decided it is time to leave home for some months and travel. There we plan to do workaway as well. This time as workers. We will see how it turns out...
We have two small guestrooms and a bike you can borrow for the time of your stay. There won't be any fixed working hours, you can join us basically as much as you want, but a little help during the day would be nice. If you really want to quantify it, i would say that about 4 hours a day would be more than sufficient for you to stay+meals. However we would say we discuss that when you are here. Unlike some other profiles i found here, i really want that you get at least as much out of your stay as i do. So if you are interested in the things i listed below and love to be out in nature doing something, let us know.
Cutting the apple trees and crafting new trees (I am no expert but i can introduce you to it)
Planting them
Building an clay oven for bread and pizza
Cutting away trees and bushes or even dig the roots out or burn them etc.
building a new garden for vegetables and a glasshouse of old windows.
in addition to these more or less agricultural related projects there are a few things we want/ need to renovate or change with the house.
Update may 2024:
At the moment we are building a system for cleaning our 'waste' water. It's a lot of digging showeling and driving around with wheelbarrows.
i guess the list is endless and with most of the things outside it really depends on the season you want to join.
Our place is about 15km away from St. Pölten which is the next city with a proper railway station, where all trains going from Vienna to the west do stop. From there we can pick you up.
