  • Description

    Hello workaway friends,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you on our permaculture farm in France. We Sebo and Bastiaan, want to make the world greener with our own hands. Our farm, eco project is an off grid, sustainable and energy neutral area and surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests from the Ardèche. We consciously care for nature and energy resources. The uniqueness of this project is that we are creating a whole system design. On a sustainable way we are connecting the elements of energy, buildings, food and people.

Our food forest will also be developed according to the ethics of permaculture: care for the earth, care for each other and share the abundance. We are also celebrating the combination of permaculture farming and living the naturist lifestyle when the weather permits.

Since we opened four years ago, more than 100 workawayers, volunteers, wwoofers, from 11 different nationalities joined us. We are very grateful and looking forward to make more new friends in the near future and expand our learning network.

Hosting is a key part of our philosophy. This means that a lot of times also our children, familiy or friends will stay at the farm to work with us and enjoy the environment. We want to share knowledge with volunteers who are enthusiastic to learn about the whole system design. We love to learn from another and be able to impart what we know. We also want to share the opportunity to experience or explore the naturist lifestyle. Our remote and quiet location gives us the freedom and the unique possibility to connect on a profound way with nature. Maybe you have to get used to naturism at the beginning, but that will change almost immediately in something very natural. Naturism brings respect for nature, respect for yourself and your fellow humans.

We are working mainly on the infrastructure of the food forest. This means, among other things, planting and cutting trees, creating paths and adding the wood stock. This is physically hard work and therefore we are looking for volunteers who can handle the ax and chain saw. You are able to work independently. We are flexible in working hours and looking for diversity in the kind of work.

We give you room and board. The breakfast and lunch are prepaired by yourself in the kitchen from the "Bergerie". A beautiful area where our volunteers also can chill. Mostly we cook and enjoying the dinners together. We have space for the maximum of 6 volunteers. If you message me, please reply with the words social naturism. You must be acquainted with one of the following languages: English, German or Dutch and sign up for the minimum of 7 days. If it fits from both sides and there is room we can decide that you can stay longer. Our site is located 30 minutes from Aubenas. We will be happy to pick you up at: Place de la Paix in the city center. After the work is done we enjoy swimming in the river which runs just below the farmhouse. Mostly we start in the morning with some short spiritual exercises in the nature, we love to exchange stories, during a good meal and a glas of wine in the evenings.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We like to share knowledge about permaculture, food forest design and sustainable farming. We live off-grid, work on our whole system design.

We love to do yoga, meditation and working with our stone circle. (medicine wheel) Our forest is a place where we make a deep connection with the essence of ourselves and where nature helps us to understand the lessons of life.

We realy like to connect with people who share the permaculture ethics: care for the earth, care for people and return of surplus to earth and people, also called fair sharing. We are developing this exiting project to develop ourselves and give people who work with us also the opportuntiy to do so.

Living in and with nature also means naturism/nudism for us. (when the weather permits). We expect a naturist lifestyle and body positivity attitude from you as well. We noticed that living together in a small naturist community gives all those involved new inspiration and energy. Social naturism gives us the opportunity to make meaningful connections with each other.

Sebo is the owner of a consultancy firm specialized in learning organizations. He is also writing his thesis about organisational agility and learning networks. Here also the ideas of permaculture are applicable, because using the benefits of diversity and "companion planting" are also fundamental for learning from each other. We are also developing a learning network with people who join our project.

Bastiaan is an easy-going and passionated man also born in the Netherlands. He is an professional operasinger and former elite soldier. His favorite opera is Parsifal from R. Wagner. Books he likes to read are: 'Walden' by D.Thoreau and L' etranger by A. Camus. He is a licensed massage therapist and nature coach. He considers the art of living as one of the most important things we have to do. Sebo and Bastiaan are a happily married gay couple for 27 years and the proud fathers of 2 kids.

Feel free to write us if you have any questions.

  • Help

A normal day starts with a coffee around 08.30. We decide which chores have to be done. Mostly we work until lunchtime which is about 13.00. In the afternoon everyone is free to do what they like, like hiking, yoga, spending time near the river, etc. During the the evenings there are some small tasks to be done, like watering the plants. You are helping us for 4 a 5 hours a day and 20 a 25 hours a week. On Sundays we rest, often we visit the: Marché aux puces.

  • Accommodation

Our accommodation is a ancient stone build farmhouse. The farm is situated on the southern slope of a mountain in the Ardeche (Rhône-Alpes). Surrounded by a forest of seven hectares. The river Bésorgues flows along the farm. We have three beautiful rooms to accommodate our volunteers. A spacious loft. One bedroom with two single beds and the former stable "La Bergerie". The Bergerie has a small kitchen and a double bed. We share the sanitary facilities and you will live in the farmhouse as part of the family.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are surrounded by beautiful hiking and biking trails and canyoning possibilities. But the great charm of our place is the opportunity to make a deep and spiritual connection with nature and therefore with yourself. We love to do yoga or meditation exercises at the river or in the forest. Working with our stone wheel (medicine wheel) helps us to mirror our inter landscape with the outer landscape.

    What volunteers say about us:

"Bastiaan and Sebo are two friendly hosts that are always available to help you and to teach their knowledge about gardening design and permaculture. Their project include several activities all in respect of the nature and the environment."

"We had here the opportunity to try a naturism experience. At the beginning we were both shy but after some hours all was very normal for us. Thanks in particular for the behavior of the hosts that made us absolutely comfortable.

"We really advise you to choose this place to help for a nice project that we found fascinating and inspiring!"

"Naturism has been a liberating and life changing experience for me. I never made such a deep connection with myself and nature. The meditation and yoga sessions at the river were so spiritual. Basti and Sebo, thank you so much for everything, see you next year."
