Description
Lily: In my home country Scotland, I like to walk in the hills, climbing and camping. I enjoy meeting and learning from new people, sharing food, stories and music from different cultures - all of which brings me happiness. I like to be physically active, especially if it involves working on the land. I am very aware of the climate crisis and am motivated to participate in any activities which tackle the causes and consequences.
Amy: Back in Scotland I spent the best part of a decade doing community work which varied from birth work to immigration and legal support. I also love the outdoors but have spent less time outside, hence the move to Aotearoa, New Zealand. I am interested in nature of all kinds, politics, history and food in an interconnected context and am very interested in learning about just about anything!

Lily: I know a little bit of Spanish but would love to learn more and work towards becoming fluent. I would be happy to share my knowledge of Gaelic and the Scots language but maybe not in a teaching capacity. Amy: I have been learning Arabic (classical and levantine) for 2 years and would be happy to share the knowledge I have around this and the English language too.

Lily has a lot of experience in areas relating to outdoor activities. At university I studied environmental geography and outdoor education and have recently updated my summer mountain leader qualification.
I have worked on site maintenance at outdoor activity centres and regularly help out with friends who run farms, market gardens and urban food projects. I have a variety of experience working with children, young people, and adults - including those with additional support needs. I have also worked in different hospitality environments working with members of the public in theatres, restaurants, bars and hotels.
Amy has experience in communities in Scotland both in paid and unpaid roles. They are a qualified birth worker, support worker for people with additional support needs and qualified to provide legal support to those in the immigration system back in Scotland. They have experience setting up large community projects like emergency accomodation shelters and city wide support networks. They have a background both in painting and law and Arabic educationally but also have gained experience in various outdoor environments and hoping to gain more and am a quick learner!
Amy and Lily have developed the kind of qualities which make us good candidates for any activity which requires, application, hard work, physical and mental strength, patience and resilience. We're not phased by weather extremes or pressure to meet deadlines. We're curious about everything and always interested in learning.

We love music, dancing and singing parties. Love karaoke. Lily also likes playing the fiddle and the guitar.
We like playing cards and board games. We like preparing food to share with friends and family. We enjoy socialising but appreciate quiet down time too.
