  • Description

I quit my job in February 2025 to travel and volunteer around the world. I'm passionate about working with animals (especially cats!) and am excited to combine that passion with my love of travel and cultural exchange.

I’ve volunteered at cat shelters in the U.S. and spent five weeks as a kennel assistant at Lanta Animal Welfare in Koh Lanta, Thailand. That role involved dog walking, feeding, cleaning, and socializing with both dogs and cats—30 hours a week of hands-on animal care that I found incredibly rewarding.

In June/July 2025, I’ll be volunteering with the Phinda Wildlife Research Project in South Africa. I’m looking forward to learning about wildlife research and conservation.

My professional background is in project management and communications, but animals have always held a special place in my heart. I bring strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a warm, positive attitude to every experience. I love learning from others, practicing new languages, and embracing the culture of each place I visit.

Through Workaway, I hope to connect with like-minded people, give back to local communities, and keep learning—especially in roles that involve animal care, sustainability, or community development.

  • More details about your skills

My skills include project management, social media management, and—most importantly—a deep love for animals.

In my most recent role, I served as a project manager for the U.S. Department of State’s longest-running professional exchange initiative, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). I was responsible for developing and managing the technical, financial, and administrative aspects of IVLP projects, designing proposals around a wide range of global themes, and coordinating professional meetings for international visitors in the Washington, DC area. My favorite part of the job was welcoming guests from around the world and helping them connect with local experts.

Before stepping into project management, I managed social media channels and created content for the same organization.

As for animals, I’ve always been passionate about their care and well-being. I have volunteered at cat shelters in the U.S., worked as a kennel assistant at Lanta Animal Welfare in Thailand, and will soon be learning about wildlife research initiatives at the Phinda Private Game Reserve in South Africa. My own cat is a foster fail, and I do hope to try fostering again in the future.
