Living and working in Guangzhou. Can only do weekend trips in Asia until the holidays

  • Description

I graduated from a natural sciences degree (Zoology, psychology, biochemistry, history and philosophy of science) in Cambridge last year. Since then I spent half the year travelling, couch surfing and workawaying, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends, occasionally in groups. The best experiences and memories always come from the workaways I do – I thrive when I have goals to work towards, can learn and apply new skills and immerse myself into a specific way of life for a longish period. The second half of the year I’ve spent teaching English and science in Guangzhou, China full time.
I am open-minded, curious and hard-working. I don't need creature comforts, routines or high hygiene standards. I enjoy doing practical things, such as building, painting, making things and am not afraid of being exhausted or pushed out my comfort zone if the task is enjoyable. I also love animals, hence the zoology degree and certainly not afraid of any creatures that can’t hurt me. Can ride a moped/ motorbike but no drivers license for cars. I can speak conversational French and am learning mandarin.

    Experience:
Au-pair in France for a month teaching english. Production team for St Johns May Ball – using heavy tools to build large sculptures out of wood or other materials. Workaway in Italy gardening, painting, animal husbandry. Workaway in Serbia building an outdoor kitchen using hemp plus spatial design and carpentry. Workaway in Berlin building a 100 year old boat using heavy tools including drills, circular saws, miter saws, grinders.
