In november and december 2024 while biking and camping through Portugal (Algarve and Alentejo), we, Herma and Hans from the Netherlands, had our first experience as workawayers. That turned out to be a wonderful adventure and a beautiful way to get to know, live and work with local people. We love to discover countries by bike.

At home we’re involved in the process of building an ecovillage in the province of Groningen for more then 50 persons. (https://eocodorplandvanaine.nl) That involves building straw bale houses, gardening, as well as many other jobs needed to turn an abandoned factory into a place of beauty.

We are practical people with a hands-on mentality and a sound work ethic, dedicated to the work that needs to be done. Apart from manual work, working the land, we are interested in social sustainable projects, farm stays and animal welfare.
