Description
Hey all, I’m a sociable, outdoor loving Scottish guy (24yrs), enjoying my workaway journey and excited to connect with kind souls along the way.
For me, volunteering abroad is all about the people, the stories, laughs, and friendships we make along the way. I’ve already made some amazing connections volunteering and I’m always up for making more, whether it’s through us working together, chatting over a coffee, sharing a beer, or eating a (hopefully edible) meal that I prepared for you.
I just completed my CELTA english teaching qualification in Turkiye and I would love to further use these skills.
Currently I am back home in the UK and looking for work so that I can start travelling and volunteering again. If there is an opportunity that allows me to work and travel somewhere new in the UK, don't hesitate to pop me a message!

More details about your skills
I posses a variety of practical, technical, and everyday skills that fits nicely with many Workaway positions.
With my background as a mechanical engineer for ships, I have a bit of experience in handling general maintenance, DIY projects, fixing things around the house, and working with tools or computer hardware. During this role, I also done some heavy lifting and worked with a variety of tools.
I’ve also worked as a cleaner for offices, restaurants and shops, so I know how to keep spaces tidy and presentable. Plus, I have experience in the kitchen, specifically food preperation and kitchen cleaning. While working in the restaurants, I also would serve and take customer orders.
Due to my previous volunteering roles in hostels, I have experience in working at the reception, selling items and housekeeping. This also involved me doing the check in and check out process, updating the guests on all the relevant information, selling services offered by the hostel, preparing dinner for the guests, interacting and being sociable with guests, planning events with the guests and taking them out to explore the area. Pretty much ensuring that they have a great experience and feel welcome :)
I recently completed my CELTA (English Teaching) qualification which has provided me with the skills to teach english to speakers of other languages, and also improve my skills in interacting and assisting people who don't know english very well.
I’m also comfortable with Microsoft Office and quick to pick up new software, which could be useful for anyone needing help with reception and digital work.
Most of all, I’m friendly, reliable, and always keen to help wherever needed. Whether that’s supporting your project, helping out around the establishment, or learning something new on the go.

What else ...
I enjoy being out in nature, hiking, camping, or just exploring new places. Travelling and socialising with new people, having a laugh with them and hanging out is what I enjoy.
When I’m not outdoors, I’m usually reading, catching live music, bouldering, at the gym, or messing about on games online with my mates.
I change interests a lot, always curious, and I’m always up for trying something new, so if you’ve got a hobby you love, I’m keen to give it a go!
