Activities i am interested in:
Hi! I'd like to work with my hands on meaningful projects, where I can clear my head and learn new skills, like sustainable building, gardening or farming.
My next destination:
Spain - from May 2026 until Sep 2026 View all -
Description
Hi, I’m Debora, a passionate of life, art and nature.
I joined work-away in May 2026 to take a break from my computer-based life and to help people create something tangible with my two hands. Since then, I spent 2 months in Portugal and another month in Spain, travelling, learning and volunteering. I am now back on my journey aiming to learn as much as I can about natural building techniques, a direction I discovered on my way.
For the last 3 years I've worked as a consultant for social housing, though overall I'd worked as an architect/interiorist, scenographer and theater-maker.
I'm an affectionate reader of both fiction and nonfiction and recently I've been rediscovering the joy of drawing again.
I like to stretch and move my body, as I have been a gymnast and a dancer from an early age, an almost-career I quit but continue to love.
I have a tender relationship to water, forests and animals, as sharing time and space with any of the three bring me peace.
In 2024/25 I experienced a lovely 2-season cycle in an old neglected garden that I was trying to recover. It gave me an opportunity to try out some self-learnt permaculture and regenerative agriculture knowledge I was learning.
I am on a journey to find my own place in this world, re-claiming agency in my life, re-building a spiritual connection to land, re-discovering my purpose, and surprisingly recovering my body's health as a sort of a side-effect. It is a journey that has brought me a lot of joy and eye-opening experiences so far. While I continue that journey, I'd be happy to contribute to what you might be already creating. -

More details about your skills
I can do any gardening or construction work.
I dare say I'm skilled with my hands, I can also draw and paint and I am reasonably skilled with tools. I've done some natural building courses and volunteering jobs – I am at a beginning of a learning journey.
I'm a self-taught gardener and plant-carer interested in restorative practices. In houseplants, I can identify what is wrong and help you cure them. In gardens, I am still learning that skill, but have a non-zero knowledge too...
I speak both English and Spanish fluently, I also gave some classes here and there. -
