Description
Hi there,
Hi, I’m Anja from Austria. 👋
I’m a curious person and I think one of the things I enjoy most about travelling is getting a little glimpse into lives that are completely different from my own. I’m much more interested in what a normal day looks like for someone than just ticking off tourist attractions.
I can be very organized and thoughtful, but I also really enjoy doing things I’ve never done before. During my first Workaway on a farm in New Zealand, I suddenly found myself feeding animals, repairing fences, working with cattle and sheep, planting trees and learning how to use tools I had never touched before. I wasn’t good at everything immediately, but I actually really enjoy that feeling of slowly getting better at something new.
I also genuinely like everyday tasks. Cooking is probably one of my favourites, but I’m strangely happy cleaning, organizing things or helping around the house too. I’m vegetarian and enjoy cooking simple meals for other people, especially when everyone ends up sitting around the same table afterwards.
I don’t need every day to be packed with activities. Some of my favourite moments while travelling have been very ordinary ones – cooking together, feeding animals in the morning, having tea, going for a walk or just talking around the dinner table.
That’s probably what I like most about Workaway: for a little while, you don’t just visit a place, you get to become part of someone else’s everyday life. And hopefully, I can contribute something useful to it while I’m there.

I’m a native German speaker and would be very happy to help with German, whether through conversations or in a more relaxed, everyday way. At the same time, I’m always looking to improve my English and become even more confident, so I really enjoy environments where I can practice and learn naturally through daily interactions. -

More details about your skills
I have been living on my own for over 5 years, so I am very used to taking care of a household independently. Cooking, cleaning, organizing and keeping things running smoothly are just part of my everyday life – I actually enjoy creating a nice and comfortable environment.
Alongside my studies, I have always worked part-time, which has made me very reliable and responsible. I am used to managing my time well, showing up consistently and handling different tasks at once.
I also regularly take care of a dog, so I am comfortable with animals and understand the responsibility that comes with them. In general, I really enjoy being around animals and spending time outdoors.
I love cooking, especially vegetarian meals. I enjoy preparing simple, healthy food and sharing it with others – for me, cooking is also a social thing.
Through my studies and work, I have developed good digital skills, such as writing, research and basic social media or computer-related tasks.
Beyond that, I would say my strengths are more in how I approach things: I am easy to communicate with, respectful in shared spaces and I genuinely enjoy living and working together with others. I am someone who notices what needs to be done and is happy to help without being asked.
I am always open to learning new things and trying tasks I haven’t done before, I usually pick things up quickly and enjoy the process. -

What else ...
In my free time, I enjoy a balance between being active and slowing down. I love spending time outdoors, going for walks, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a coffee or tea. At the same time, I really value being around people – sharing meals, conversations, and those small everyday moments that somehow become the most meaningful.
Music is also an important part of my life – I sing in a choir and genuinely love it. It’s one of those things that brings people together in a very natural and beautiful way.
I also love travelling and getting to know new cultures. What I enjoy most is not just seeing new places, but understanding how people live, what matters to them, and experiencing daily life from a different perspective.
I would describe myself as someone who enjoys both structure and freedom. I like having a certain rhythm and responsibility in everyday life, but at the same time I need space to explore, be spontaneous and just follow what feels right in the moment. I think I’m somewhere in between – not too chaotic, but also not too rigid.
I’m also quite a reflective person and genuinely interested in people. I like understanding different perspectives and I value honest and respectful communication. I’m someone who creates a calm and positive atmosphere, but I also enjoy laughter, lightness and a bit of fun. -
