Description
Hello! We are a family from Catalonia, Spain, and we live in Sant Jordi Desvalls, a beautiful and charming small village surrounded by nature.
We have two children, aged 3 and 7 years old, and we are looking for an English-speaking Workawayer to stay with us for approximately 3 months, from January to April.
Our main goal is for our children to discover and learn English in a natural and fun way. We would love to welcome someone who enjoys spending time with children, playing, reading stories, doing crafts, going to the park and sharing everyday family life — all while speaking English with them.
Sant Jordi Desvalls is a small, peaceful and very charming village, perfect for enjoying Catalan life and nature. It also has a train station, which makes it very easy to get around without a car.
We are very well located: approximately 20 minutes from Girona, 20 minutes from Figueres and 20 minutes from the Costa Brava. Barcelona is also easy to reach by train. There are lots of beautiful places to discover around us, from medieval villages and beaches to nature, mountains and Catalan towns.
We would love to find a kind, cheerful, responsible and easy-going person who genuinely enjoys children and would like to become part of our family for a few months.
In return, we will offer a warm family environment, a private room, meals and the opportunity to discover Catalonia and experience everyday life with a Catalan family.
We are really looking forward to meeting someone who can share their English and culture with our children, while we share our home, our culture and our beautiful part of Catalonia with them. ❤️
We hope to hear from you soon! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We would love to share our Catalan way of life and culture with our Workawayer.
Living with our family will give you the opportunity to experience everyday life in a Catalan village, enjoy our traditions, food and local celebrations, and discover the beautiful surroundings of Girona and the Costa Brava.
We will be happy to show you our favourite places, introduce you to our friends and family and share meals and experiences together.
In return, we would love you to share your language, culture, traditions, music and stories with us and especially with our children.
We think this can be a lovely cultural exchange: you can discover Catalonia and practise Spanish or Catalan, while our children can discover English and learn about your culture.
We hope you will feel at home with us and become part of our family during your stay. -

Help
We are looking for an au pair who would like to become part of our family and share our everyday life with us.
The main purpose of the stay is for our children, aged 3 and 7, to have daily contact with English in a natural and enjoyable way.
The help would be around 20 hours per week, mainly in the mornings and around lunchtime. For example:
Having breakfast with the children and speaking English with them.
Walking with them to school, which is only 2 minutes' walk from our home.
Three days a week, picking them up from school at lunchtime, walking home with them and having lunch together.
Spending some time playing, talking, reading stories or doing activities with them in English.
The schedule would be agreed together in advance, and we would like to keep it compatible with the au pair's free time and plans.
We are not looking for someone to do housework. The main thing we are looking for is someone who enjoys being with children and who can share English with them as part of their everyday life.
We would love the au pair to feel like another member of our family, sharing meals, conversations and experiences with us while also having plenty of free time to enjoy Catalonia -

Our main interest in the language exchange is for our children, aged 3 and 7, to have regular and natural contact with English. We would love to welcome a native English speaker who enjoys talking, playing and spending time with children in English. We would also be happy to share our Catalan and Spanish language and culture in return. -
Accommodation
You will have your own private bedroom in our large, comfortable family home. We live in a clean, safe and welcoming house with a garden and swimming pool, right in the centre of our village.
The house has all the comforts you may need, including heating and air conditioning. You will have your own private space and, at the same time, the opportunity to share our family life and enjoy the common areas of the house.
Regarding meals, you will have full access to our kitchen and will be free to use it independently whenever you wish. You can prepare your own meals according to your preferences and schedule. We are also happy to share family meals together when it works for everyone.
We want you to feel comfortable and at home here, with the freedom and independence to organise your own time outside your au pair responsibilities. -
What else ...
Free time and our surroundings
There are lots of things to do in our free time and we think our area is a great place to enjoy life.
Our village and the surrounding area are very popular with cyclists, so if you enjoy cycling or other outdoor sports, there are many routes and beautiful places to discover. We also love going for walks, hiking, doing excursions and enjoying nature.
At the same time, we are very well connected, so it is easy to visit Girona, Figueres, the Costa Brava and other places in Catalonia. Girona and Figueres are around 20 minutes away by car, and there are also train and bus connections from the village.
You can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of living in a small village, while still being able to discover cities, beaches, nature and Catalan culture.
Our lifestyle and house rules
We are a quiet and easy-going family and we really enjoy spending time together. We like being outdoors, going on little trips and excursions, enjoying nature and discovering new places. We also enjoy culture, good food and having a healthy lifestyle.
At home, we like things to be clean and tidy, and we really value respect, good communication and a peaceful family atmosphere.
We are a non-smoking family, so we ask that there is no smoking inside the house.
We also understand that the au pair will have her own life and free time. We want her to feel comfortable in our home, have her own space and enjoy her time here. We hope that living together will feel natural and relaxed, and that over time she will feel like part of the family. -
