New Zealand - from May 2025 until May 2026 View allDescription
We are a couple from the Czech Republic who decided to take a break from office jobs and experience something new through travel and hands-on work. Although we both have university degrees, we’ve really come to enjoy doing physical work and learning new practical skills.
Last year, we lived in Canada for a year, and now we are exploring New Zealand on Working Holiday Visas.
We both love hiking in the mountains, camping, skiing, and snowboarding. I (Barbora) enjoy singing – I sing in a choir back home – and I used to play the piano for about six years (though I’ve forgotten quite a bit!). Recently, I’ve started learning to play the ukulele – but I’m a total beginner. Lukas enjoys playing computer games and is really into space and astronomy – he’s a bit of a space nerd in the best possible way.
I have a dog at home and we both absolutely love animals. Lately, I’ve also been getting into cooking – I especially enjoy making homemade pizza dough! Lukas enjoys eating it. 😄
We’re friendly, reliable, and excited to help out wherever we can while getting to know local people and cultures.Languages

More details about your skills
Last year in Canada, we got to try a lot of hands-on work and really enjoyed it! We both did housekeeping in hotels and cozy cabin resorts – cleaning, and helping keep everything nice and tidy for guests.
We also spent some time looking after a small campground in the mountains. We helped with daily cleaning, general maintenance, and just keeping the place running smoothly.
One of the most memorable things we did was helping a cabin resort recover after a major wildfire. We helped with post-fire cleanup, mowing the grass, planting trees, and doing all kinds of gardening and outdoor maintenance. It was physical work, but also really meaningful — and we learned a lot along the way.
These experiences from last year gave us a chance to work outdoors, use our hands, and learn to adapt to different tasks and situations. We're not afraid of physical work, and we like the feeling of helping out and getting things done together.
We’re also pretty handy and comfortable with technology. Both of us are used to working with computers and different tech tools, and earlier this year we even did a small renovation of our apartment back home — painting, assembling furniture, fixing little things around the place. So we’re not afraid to get our hands dirty and enjoy learning new practical skills.Age
