Workaway News: Introducing our New and Improved Feedback System
After many fruitful years of connecting hosts and Workawayers around the world, we have listened to your suggestions and now we’re making an important upgrade to one of the core parts of our platform – our feedback system! The process is redesigned to make it even fairer, more honest, and pressure-free for everyone…
What’s new?
We’ve introduced a double-blind feedback system.
This means:
- Your feedback for your host/Workawayer will no longer be published right after our review. Instead, the other member will be notified and given 14 days to write feedback for you.
- Your feedback will only be visible once they have written feedback for you, or once the 14 days are up.
- Feedback from both sides will be published at the same time.
In short, no one can see the other person’s feedback before writing their own.
Why this matters?
“There were some things I didn’t love about my exchange, but if I mention it in my feedback I’m worried my host/Workawayer will leave me bad feedback on my profile😰”
Essentially, our new feedback system is here to eliminate this concern! We get it, it can be hard to say everything you want to say about an exchange, if the other person might take your feedback into account when writing one for you… so this new update is here to make sure everyone feels 100% comfortable with sharing their honest experience during their exchange via our platform.
How it works
Leaving feedback is still very simple, and here is how it’s going to look like:
1. Click on your ‘ACCOUNT’ icon and select ‘Leave feedback’ from the dropdown menu:

2. Here you’ll see all the hosts you have been in contact with for the last six months, that you can leave feedback for. If you don’t see the host you want to leave feedback for, simply drop them a message and they will appear on this page.

3. The rest of our feedback process remains unchanged! You get to leave an overall rating for your exchange, as well as some aspects of your stay that you can specify on.
AND -- you can also still leave your host a private note (that will not be shown as part of your feedback for them), as well as a note for our support team if there’s anything about this host you’d like to confidentially tell us about.

4. Once you submit your feedback, a member of our team will review and get it approved as usual… *however*, it will not be published just yet!
Your host will be notified that you’ve left feedback for them, and they will have 14 days to leave feedback for you in order to read your feedback. If they write you feedback sooner, both of your feedback will be published sooner and at the same time!
The same goes for you; if your host leaves you feedback first, you’ll be notified about it but won’t be able to read it until you have also written one for them within 14 days, or after the time limit is up.

Keeping our community real and supportive
Workaway has always been about people coming together, sharing experiences and learning from one another. Every piece of feedback is manually reviewed by a member of our team, and just as it always brightens our day to hear about all your positive connections, we're also ready to help deal with potential issues in line with our tried and tested feedback policy. With this update, we hope everyone in the Workaway community will feel more confident in sharing their experiences openly, supporting one another, and continue creating meaningful exchanges around the world. 🫶🏽
