We still think the biggest perk of being part of the Workaway community (and part of the Workaway team) is that we’re always evolving, expanding our horizons and having new experiences that literally change our lives!
With such
diverse hosts in 170 countries offering everything from
sailing across the seas to eco-
farming, we wish we could visit and connect with all of these amazing projects and people and take you along for the ride. While we may not be able to do that, we love to keep you updated with some of the most special moments and stories…
Panama: beyond tourist attractions and beautiful beaches
Have you been to many beautiful and remote places in the world, but somehow still feel as if something is missing? Are you looking for a way to travel where you can connect with the communities and be a part of it, or even give back a little?
Neri from our team caught up with Workawayers Catherine, Ellie and Ali, who are staying at a tropical beach off the lovely island of Bastimentos,
Panama. They are currently volunteering at a
solar-powered eco lodge
nestled between lush rainforests and the amazing Red Frog Beach here in Bocas del Toro, where Workawayers get to enjoy a slice of paradise life in a unique and immersive way for free…
Living right on the beach is really incredible, I think it’s a really unique experience to do that!
A day in the Workaway life: volunteering at a beachside eco-lodge
Living on the Caribbean coast amongst the locals can be about so much more than just chilling on the beach, swimming in the turquoise sea and having bonfire nights. Like many
sustainable communities and projects, this eco lodge offers a different kind of "vacation":
Workawayers participate in beach clean-ups, teach or practise yoga with guests, organise group activities, and help out with other small tasks around the lodge
. As a part of the learning experience,
in return workawayers even get to stay for free!
If you’re a traveller who is looking to immerse and give back to the communities or places you visit, this is your ticket to take your adventures to the next level. And if you’re looking for an eco-friendly place to stay in the tropical Caribbean whilst getting involved in sustainable activities with a like-minded community… this is the place for you!
I was planning to stay for one month, and finally it’s been three months and I’m still here – surrounded by nature, meeting new people every day… I just love this place!
Having visited this eco lodge in such a special part of Panama, we are feeling so much more connected with our kind of travellers –
people who travel to not just see the world but to get out of their comfort zone, grow and learn from their new experiences.
Above all, we’re so inspired to witness how we can really make a positive impact, by coming together, learning from each other, sharing our passions and offering our helping hands to contribute towards a meaningful cause!
