Connie, thank you so much for everything during this week. I have experienced four Workaway stays so far, and all of them were wonderful, but volunteering with you became an unforgettable treasure in my life. I truly enjoyed talking with you guys baking sweets, making sushi, and sitting around the table together to share meals. You, the kids, and Philipp were all incredibly kind. From the moment I arrived, you welcomed me as a guest, not just a volunteer.🥹 Even before I arrived, you supported me so much. When I wasn’t feeling very well, you even brought food to my room — your kindness really touched me, and I honestly felt a bit sorry because you were so caring. 🙏😭 The time I spent with all of you passed so quickly. Let’s stay in touch! And if you ever come to Japan, please be sure to contact me. I’ll be waiting for you.😊✨

Another volunteer experience has come to an end, one that taught me many things and is honestly one of my favorites. Diana and Stanislav are truly incredible people with big hearts. I had an amazing time with them from the very first day until the end of my volunteering experience. I loved helping both outside and inside the house, because there is always something to do every day and you never get bored there’s simply no time for that 😄. And last but very importantly, their children: they are wonderful, very friendly, and always invited me to play with them. I don’t have enough words to describe how incredible they are. Thank you so much for all the beautiful moments we shared. I hope to see you again soon. Sending you a very big hug 🥹.

I can recommend this Workaway if you enjoy hands-on work, living a bit off the grid (the last house in the village), camping, and if you love wide open views of the sea and the mountains and enjoy being around cats and chickens. The place suits you if you like to be spontaneous, like to philosophize and are interested in alternative lifestyles. Before coming here, I had never worked in construction, let alone with the traditional building techniques that Javier uses. Nevertheless, I was able to support the project in various ways. For example, I helped prepare the soil (el barro) for the bathroom roof by mixing different types of soil and collecting grasses. I also helped plaster walls and prepared sand–lime mixtures. Javier patiently explained each task and showed me how to do it. It was inspiring to see how beautiful and unique the houses built with these techniques are, and to realize that most of the materials are local, natural, and affordable. Javier and Andrea are very open-minded, generous, and welcoming people. Friends visited regularly, and we took part in local activities such as a concert, a gallery opening, and a yoga class in the village. They are also excellent cooks, and I truly enjoyed the healthy, varied, and delicious meals we shared together. Since the project is still under construction, there is currently no conventional kitchen or bathroom. However, everything works well and there is access to water, gas, and electricity. If you stay here, I highly recommend using a free weekend to hike to Punta Lobos. From the top of the mountain, you can spot seals and even whales — an unforgettable experience. Thank you again!

We had a wonderful time with Juliette. She helped us with gardening, harvesting willow and many other things, and was always very helpful. Thanks to her support, we had delicious Christmas cookies this year, and she also shared new recipes from her home country with us. We wish her all the best and look forward to seeing her again.

Momo you‘re wonderful! You helped us a lot! She was sensitive, calmly, patient and very friendly to our kids and pets! She showed us Japanese cooking (Maki, Sushi and delicious Miso Soup) and helped a lot with my housework. Now we don’t need to go to Japanese restaurant anymore when we would like eat Maki or Soup!! ; ) We had a great communication and we hope you doing well in the future! See you in Japan ; )

Pier-Anne and Justin Ray were absolutely wonderful to host, and we were honestly happy that they ended up staying a few weeks longer than planned. From day one, they brought great energy, curiosity, and kindness into our home. They helped mainly in the garden and did so with motivation, reliability, and a really positive attitude. But what truly made their stay special were the countless inspiring conversations. They are without a doubt professional hikers, and listening to their trail stories was fantastic. Their experiences, mindset, and passion for long-distance hiking deeply inspired me and motivated me to continue our own long-trail hiking journey. Spending time with them was a real pleasure — easy, fun, and enriching. They quickly felt like friends rather than guests. And we can’t forget our dog, who was clearly one of the biggest fans: multiple walks a day, bike rides, and lots of attention meant he was thoroughly spoiled and is definitely missing them now. We truly hope Pier-Anne and Justin Ray will visit us again one day. Any host would be incredibly lucky to have them — we recommend them with all our hearts!

Pía and Antonio spent several wonderful weeks with us in Perdifumo, and it was truly a pleasure to have them here. From the very beginning, they were open, respectful, and easy to live with, quickly becoming part of our daily life. We shared many good moments together, and I especially enjoyed the conversations about their life in Patagonia. Hearing about their experiences, culture, and way of living was enriching and inspiring, and it added a very special dimension to our time together. They approached their tasks with a positive attitude, were reliable, and always willing to help. Communication was easy and natural, and the atmosphere they brought into the house was calm and friendly. We are very grateful for the time we spent together and can warmly recommend Pía and Antonio to any future hosts. They will be a real enrichment wherever they go.

We stayed at Frank’s farm in Pavones for three weeks and had a very positive experience. The work depends on the current projects on the farm, but it usually involves tasks around the fruit forest, stables and horses, the greenhouse, planting trees and general maintenance. Frank is a caring and supportive host who is always willing to help, but he also appreciates volunteers who can work independently. There are 3 permanent workers on the farm that are super nice and always ready to help. The farm is in a great location if you enjoy exploring. You can surf nearby or take the bikes to visit the beaches in the area. We stayed in a rustic house on the property, which was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. There is so much to discover on and around the farm, and we would definitely enjoy coming back in the future!

Lucia and Juan are extreeeeeemely sweet and lovely people who are very easy to talk to and very supportive of a project like ours. It was so nice to see how they enjoyed our new farm Atong Baol and made the place their own. They're responsible workers- always doing their absolute best, even when the work is tough and tiring. Juan is even super handy with wood and tools!!! Making dog gates, using the jackhammer!, battling spiky plants with the mower, fixing shovel handles... you name it :) We will miss them (and our amusing Spanish/English misadventures hahahaha), and would welcome them back anytime. Hugs!

Alissa was a joy to work with and be around. She showed great care for all the animals and the living space. She was always willing to go above and beyond to maintain and improve our project even under the tough winter conditions. She was very patient dealing with our varied group of animal caretakers through language barriers and last minute changes. She never shied away from tough and dirty jobs and always put in extra effort to make sure the animals under her care were extremely well taken care of. She made extra efforts even on her rest days to ensure the animals and staff had extra support. Moccasin the cat will always appreciate all the love and care you provided, Río the goat will always appreciate all the extra food you “shared with him.” 😂 Alissa also provided helpful and actionable suggestions to help improve communication between the staff and volunteers, and help improve all aspects of animal care at the sanctuary. Thank you for all the help, we look forward to welcoming you again in the future if you are back in the area.

This was my first Workaway experience, and staying with Mie was truly wonderful. She was incredibly kind and thoughtful, always making sure I was comfortable and cared for, which helped me feel supported and confident during my time in Japan. She went out of her way to show me around, introducing me to different foods and helping me experience Japanese culture in meaningful ways. Her thoughtfulness and generosity made every day enjoyable, and I always felt welcomed and valued. Thanks to Mie’s guidance and encouragement, I grew so much as a teacher. Working at her English school taught me new approaches, and her support helped me gain confidence and improve my teaching skills. Her students are so sweet and respectful, which made teaching them a joy. Living and working with Mie was a rewarding experience, and I learned a lot not only about teaching but also about Japanese values and culture. This experience gave me memories I’ll always treasure, and I’m truly grateful for all that I learned from her. I am very grateful for these two months and hope to return to Fukuoka to continue supporting her students.

Lawrence was an awesome volunteer on our farm. He was super helpful and always jumped in to get things done, no matter what the job was. He worked hard and made everything more fun. What I really loved was how calm and peaceful he is. He just has this relaxing vibe that makes busy farm days feel easier. Lawrence is a true adventurer who loves trying new things. Hosting him was a real pleasure. He’s always welcome back here anytime – we hope he comes again soon! I’d recommend him to any host if your looking for good energy to have around.

It is difficult to find the words to describe the wonderful two weeks we spent with Susanna, Giulio and Frida. We were their first workaway guests, and they welcomed us with open arms and unconditional kindness. Every day was different in terms of the tasks to be done on the farm, depending on everyone's energy, enthusiasm and the weather. At their home, we had space and time to recharge our batteries in the heart of the beautiful countryside. Giulio and Susanna enthusiastically showed us around their region. Susanna introduced us to vegan cuisine, and we hope that everyone who stays with them will have the chance to taste her divine dishes ! This experience would not have been as wonderful without Giulio's humour, childlike spirit and biscuits. We cannot thank them enough for all their love and kindness :)

We had a wonderful experience with this Workaway. From the very beginning, we were welcomed so warmly and immediately felt at home. Sue and Alan are authentic, kind, open-minded, funny and attentive to our needs. We shared so many laughs with this unique family. The tasks were varied and adapted to our abilities, we truly felt useful and appreciated. Sue is amazing, the more you get to know her, the more you discover how many talents she has. With Alan, laughter is guaranteed and you will never be bored. Once again, thank you so much, and we truly hope to see you again soon, we miss you already.

We stayed with this amazing family for a few weeks. During those days, our main job was collecting olives in order to make oil. Alwin and Janine were really welcoming, and it was a pleasure to spend time with them and with Liam and Luuk. The workawayers’ room, where we spent our evenings and nights, is really spacious and meets every need. Alwin and Janine are very communicative and calm people; we truly felt at home. Liam and Luuk are two very energetic kids, always ready to help and eager to learn about other cultures. In conclusion, we can absolutely say this was an amazing experience. Hope to see you again, guys! Our biggest regards, Raùl, Dino and Chiara

I have nothing but feelings of gratitude for the experience I had with Thierry and his project. Every detail of it is incredibly interesting, and it was an honor to help both in the honey factory and in the construction of the treehouse. Beyond the work, the moments shared around the table were truly special — enjoying delicious raclette, tartiflette, and “tortiflette” together made everything even more memorable. The farm itself is absolutely surreal in its beauty: every day felt like a new sky show over the mountains, bringing a deep sense of peace. I learned a lot from Thierry and from my fellow volunteers during this Workaway. Once again, I am deeply grateful for this experience. You have a wonderful heart, and your project is truly beautiful. I hope to see you again soon. A big hug, my friend, and I wish you all the very best ❤️

If I could rate it 10/10 stars, this would be it! Unforgettable memories with this lovely German (also Irish 😍) family! Witnessing Princess Frank "Maus's" (a loving way of saying it) smile every day was a radiant light! The whole family is wonderful, friendly, and genuine! I was able to experience the day-to-day life of German culture with enthusiasm and originality! I also met Anne and Frederik, who are lovely and friendly people! Regarding the volunteer work, I sterilized Frank Maus's baby bottles, cooked dinner, vacuumed the house, helped with grocery shopping, and also organized some stuffs in the family's new home. It's important to note that the family respected the daily volunteer hours, thus allowing me to dedicate myself to my online work as an international consultant in industrial property (patents & trademarks). Furthermore, they encouraged me to visit the amazing Christmas markets in Germany. Hannah, Kevin, and Frank Maus: you all brought me so much happiness! Gratitude at all!

I had a very nice experience at the place. The work can be demanding at times, but if you don't mind getting dirty and like animals, it's really nice. I especially enjoyed being able to work with a lot of different kinds of animals. I learned a lot, felt like I was contributing to something important and met some wonderful people. As is typical, you meet wonderful people here, as well as others who are ... I would recommend this place to anyone who loves animals and wants a purposeful Workaway experience.

Gabriele was a wonderful volunteer to have at the farm. He was always willing to help and never hesitated to take on any task, whether big or small. He worked across different teams—resident animals, products, and the hospital—and did everything with care. What really stood out was that Gabriele often helped even beyond volunteering hours, simply because he wanted to contribute more. He got along well with the animals, staff, and other guests, followed all the rules, and maintained a very respectful attitude throughout his stay. We never had any issues with him and would be happy to welcome him back anytime. :)

My experience at the finca has been fantastic! I stayed there for 5 weeks and carried out a large variety of tasks, such as feeding the animals (horses, rodents, birds, etc.), grooming the horses and ensuring that the finca remains clean. I am very grateful to Lucía and her family for welcoming me with open arms into their world. Moreover, I would highly encourage any future Workawayers to explore the beautiful city of Granada and its surroundings. I had a great time discovering the rich history and traditions of Andalucía and hope to come back soon!
