Roli and Nelia welcomed me with open arms and made the first week of my travels (and my first workaway experience) around southamerica a really memorable one. Although work on the farm was hard, especially with the weather not being great, it was incredibly interesting to see the process from cutting trees, harvest cacao fruits and the process of turning the fruits into so many amazing products. I will definitely miss the beautiful garden they have in Omoa, the baleadas in the morning and all the great talks and discussions I had with Roli and Nelia.

Thank you so much for these beautiful words 💛 I’m really happy I could welcome you last minute, and from the very first pizza night it felt easy and natural to share time, work, food and conversations together. Your help, presence and positive energy were genuinely appreciated, and I’m glad you felt at home. You’ll always be welcome, whether it’s for a visit, another stay… or yes, maybe one day as neighbors in the village (that would be AWSOME!) 😉 A big hug to both of you and thank you again for everything!

Everything went great with Zhili. She took care of the guesthouse and made Hot Pot and other dishes to try , very spicy and delicious. Cheerful and took on every task I had for her. Highly recommended for everyone considering her as a Workawayer.

Roger and Brenda are truly wonderful hosts whom we can wholeheartedly recommend. At the same time, they are such a special family that we almost feel like keeping them a secret. We stayed with them for 39 days, and from the very first day, we felt warmly welcomed as part of the family. The accommodation was very comfortable, and our family of four had a private room, which allowed us to settle in easily and feel at home right away. When timing allowed, we shared meals together, had access to Wi-Fi, and were free to use the shower. We were also included in everyday life, enjoying New Zealand treats such as liquorice and hokey pokey ice cream together, which made us feel truly welcomed into their home. Most of our work focused on plums, and this became one of the most memorable parts of our stay. We watched the plums change from green to red and then deep purple as they ripened. Harvesting, sorting, packing, and preparing for the farmers’ market became part of our daily routine, and fresh plums quickly became our family’s favourite. We also helped with tidying and organizing rooms, painting doors, mowing lawns, and making signs for the market. The workload was always well balanced, and we appreciated that Roger and Brenda often encouraged us to take breaks. This stay was about much more than work. We shared many conversations, played games like Bananagrams, and especially enjoyed geocaching together — achieving our first FTF (First to Find) was a highlight. Spending Christmas and the New Year together was also a special experience, and celebrating a summer Christmas with their friends and family is a memory we will never forget. What made this stay truly special was the way Roger and Brenda cared for our children. They treated them like family, spending time walking and talking with them. Brenda taught our daughter knitting, which gave her great confidence, and Roger taught our son how to use the lawn mower and helped him gain confidence in communicating in English. As parents, seeing this growth was incredibly meaningful. This was a warm, generous, and deeply human Workaway experience that we will always treasure. Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay in Manakau. Manakauでの忘れられない滞在を、本当にありがとうございました。

Great time with Claudia and David at their Refugio not far from Bogota. Claudia and David are easy people and it was great spending 2 weeks there. I had a great little room at their Refugio, a few minutes away from main house, and my work was fairly independent to do repairs around their campsite.

My first Workaway experience was directly a very good one. Anna and Gabriel were very good hosts and also gave me a lot of freedom to explore Reunion.

My month in Reunion was amazing and the family certainly helped with the experience. Both children are lovely and eager to learn English and even share their wisdom. They taught me some French and how to play chess. Anna has her independent travel company, which gave me the advantage of receiving a lot of travel information. And in return I helped her with marketing advice. So in the end we had a nice exchange of knowledge and skills.

They have a very complete cabin in their backyard, offering more than I could have hoped for. Giving me a space to my own, but still close to the family. Supermarkets and public transport were all within walking distance.

Please note that you do have to be very independent. They give you all the freedom and ask for little. Which made my stay very pleasant, but will not be suitable for everybody. Just something to be aware of.

I highly recommend staying with Anna and Gabriel, they will undoubtedly welcome you with open arms!

Staying at the husky farm has been one of the best months of my life! Domi, Beat, Sabi and Patrick are amazing hosts and truly amazing people. The huskies were all incredibly sweet, and it was such a privilege to get to know every one of them. They each have such distinct personalities and are bursting with love. It was hard to say goodbye to them. Working with the dogs and around the property was very rewarding and a lot of fun. Sabi and Patrick are great teachers, and I was able to get the hang of things pretty quickly. There was also a lot of free time to enjoy all the activities on offer at the property and in the region. I had an awesome time ice-fishing, ice-dipping, cross-country skiing, dogsledding, practising archery, hiking, camping, using the bastu/sauna and much more. If you are after a full winter experience, then this is the place to be. The soft snow and wild landscapes were beautiful, and I even got to see the Northern Lights! I could not have asked for a better experience. The house was comfortable and warm, the food was delicious, and the conversations were always fantastic and full of laughs! If there is an opportunity to come back, I would take it in a heartbeat.

Our almost two weeks with Marcello and Kefir were amazing. Another host cancelled last minute and he was very accommodating in receiving us, the first night he took us out for pizzas!! Marcello is very fun, smart, open minded, hardworking and easy to talk to. We helped with some organizing, cleaning and dog sitting but it did not feel enough for what we got back. We got our own little table in his degustation and got to taste his amazing vegan food, had great conversations, went to a agriturismo with his friends, spent time with the lovely Kefir, walked around the cozy village and fed the neighborhood donkeys. It was more like staying with an old friend, and we would absolutely come visit Marcello again (or perhaps buy a house in the village, we'll see...) <3

I spent 9 days with Hristo and there was never a dull moment. There wasn't a huge amount of work due to my visit being in the winter, but this just ensured we could get outdoors as much as possible and talk about a huge range of interesting topics varying from our differing cultures, philosophy and travel. Hristo was super generous with his time as we went on plenty of hikes and visits to various scenic spots in the beautiful mountains. I was certainly never hungry or thirsty as we feasted upon an abundance of traditional Bulgarian dishes, wines, teas and rakia, including a very filling and very typical Balkan breakfast. I would stay with Hristo again in a heartbeat!

We are two teenage girls (18&19 years old) who were looking for a summer adventure. We both dedicate a big portion of our lifes to horses, therefore it was an excellent option. We had no issues with communicating with Rahel and arranging our stay. The farm is beautiful and there is lots of space in the house. It is a bit remote if you don't have a car, surrounded by pretty fields and forest. Our tasks were very manageable and allowed us plenty of free time. Rahel was kind enought to let us ride the horses and enable us to experience the area while riding and galopping on long fields. We really fell in love with the donkeys as well. Rahels children were all kind to us too. We appreciate being trusted with the farm by ourselves and enjoyed every moment of it.

Vicktoria's arrival in our home was a huge breath of fresh energy. She is organized, rational,a natural leader, punctual, and serious. She participated in all the household activities and the olive harvest with great professionalism. Always with a smile and a great desire to speak Italian. Thank you Vicktoria, for sharing the time with me and everyone. Enrica and Vin

Liz and Uruz are warm and easy-going. They generously shared their home and toys with us, and we very naturally fell into a shared rhythm of working and playing and hanging out. Liz' son Uruz and our son Yuki were friends instantly, and I have found a wonderful new friend in Liz.

Yingda was a wonderful exchange participant at our school. He is from China and stayed with us for four weeks, during which he made a very positive impact on our community. Yingda supported our English and Spanish classes, both in person and online, and showed great responsibility, kindness, and dedication in everything he did. The students really enjoyed interacting with him, and his calm, friendly, and respectful attitude helped create a great learning environment. He also showed genuine interest in our school, the community, and the local culture. It was a pleasure to have him working alongside our teachers and staff, and his presence contributed to a rich cultural exchange for everyone involved. Yingda integrated very well into daily life, and we truly appreciated his openness, motivation, and positive energy. We are very grateful for the time he spent with us and would happily welcome him back in the future. We highly recommend Yingda to any host or project on Workaway!

Thank you so much for your beautiful and heartfelt feedback. It truly touched our heart. It was an absolute pleasure to host you, and we are very happy that you felt at home with myself and Chiku. Treating you like family came naturally to us. Your help in the kitchen and dining area, and the positive energy you shared with everyone, made your stay even more special. Wotkawayers like you turn work into joy and memories into lifelong connections. You will always be welcome here, and this will always be your home in Jaisalmer. Thank you once again for your kind words and appreciation. Warm regards and best wishes. Thank you 🙏

It has been such a pleasure to spend time with Jonathan and we hope we'll meet each other again! He came to our place like a rainbow during a rainy day: it has been a pure cultural exchange because of the rainy weather and the short time he had to stay with us, but we enjoyed every minute of it! He is a very good guitar player and has tons of story to tell about his travel. See you soon Jonathan and remember: "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end." Our experience with this host was mixed and may depend a lot on personal expectations and working style. During our stay, the house rules and daily organization were not always very clear to us, particularly regarding food arrangements and cooking schedules, so future volunteers may find it helpful to clarify these aspects in advance. The main tasks we carried out were related to renovating metal grilles, which made the work quite repetitive. Accommodation-wise, we had a private apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, and a small living area, which offered independence and privacy. However, it is worth noting that there was no internet connection available. The host is a very reserved person and interaction was limited, so this experience may be better suited to volunteers who are comfortable with working independently and spending a lot of time on their own. Overall, while we appreciated having our own space, the experience did not fully meet our expectations and we decided to leave a few days earlier. For the right volunteer profile, however, this setup could still be a good fit.
