  • Description

The ambitions for this project remain strong, but, as with much that has happened over the past few years, there has been a shift in the activity. Max is looking after the project without Alice, and so, while you are still welcome to come by and lend a hand with refining the hostel space, much of the activity below has been deprioritised.
The permaculture project has downscaled as we are in between land purchase, but there is still a patch near the house that we wish to prepare for becoming a garden.
Alice arranged the plant medicine/herbologist activities, such as making oils and soaps, so this is also paused for now.

However, please do get in touch if you’re looking to explore some of Madagascar and would like to be involved along the way. You will be welcomed with an open heart, and it is a pleasure to share this project with you.

Embark with us on a journey in paradise where we explore the expansion of our potentials, of our skills and aspirations.
In thurst for LIFE and a set aim to invest our energy into what is in service to the betterment of our planet, we are Maxime (28) and Alice (27), a french/german couple in our mid20s, devoted to take action on this purpose.
Our long-term project is the set up our Backpacker Hostel (opening when time is ripe) that shall host open-minded people that are genuinely concerned to live in a more sustainable way and willing to put energy in contributing for a better future on this planet than what is predicted.
Each one of us is on a big learning path and noone has reached his final destination, so we open the doors and the means to be empowered in doing the things we love, to learn and to grow towards the direction we personally feel attracted to. (We are fully learning by doing!!)
On a land of 5 hectars we are developping bio-organic permacultural farming, that will nourish us, the travellers and the local community.
Specifically, we are growing fruits and vegetables, and are highly motivated in extending the growth of wild pepper, ginger, spirulina, moringa, algues, vanilla, cacao etc. and transform these precious goods for contributing to a healthy lifestyle.
We are invested in alternative energies, such as solar and bio-gas composted by animal excrements, used as a natural fertilizer on our land as well as for cooking, sourced from its emitted gas.

We keep the balance of work through mindful practices, doing Yoga, Meditation, Dance, Circus, Massage, Climbing, Motorbike, Hiking, Diving - The list is obviously endless!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are blessed to live in a magical environment, having the sea literally one footstep away, being in connection and respect with nature and its unique inhabitants.
We wonder sometimes and are in full gratitude why this tropical dream hasn´t already been flooded by the hotel industry and the big players.
Having the chance to live in a little remote village on the coast enables us to live the raw and authentic experience with locals, being part of their daily lives detached from tourism. We see this aspect as a gift for everyone seeking raw cultural exchange.

Furthermore we´d like to point out that if you d like to join, this is a space OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE.

It takes courage, high dedication, responsibility and hard work to build a project like this and this project wouldn´t exist without such a strong character like Maxime has. There needs to be a space in you willing to be confronted with a beautiful, but strong and triggering character. He is born to be someone that will get you out of your comfort zone and as soon as you openly receive what is hidden behind that strength, I am certain that you ll highly benefit from that, if you are on the path of wanting to grow out of your shells.
We also invite those who welcome daily mindful routines and practices that align with your heart and centre, those who are familiar with alternative lifestyles and eager to exchange and grow on this path, together with us.

You are most welcome to volunteer on our organic farm. Because we are also working on construction, decoration and self-sustained restauration for the upcoming hostel, volunteers who feel called in those fields are also most welcome.

There is a wide and infinite range of possibilities that seek to be explored here - whether you are interested in plant medicine, the preparation of essential oils, medicinal salves, tinctures, cacao - this is the place to exchange, to learn from local knowledge and share your own knowledge through workshops of any kind.
For now, we produce our own coconut and avocado oil, used for the production of natural soap and creams and are super stoked to expand these skills !
Besides, we openly invite and support initiations to engage in local projects, touching topics such as reforestation, animal preservation or local school projects, to name a few.

Whether you are more interested in the pursuit of the hostel, the farm, natural medicine, or local projects - we are pretty sure of finding the match between your wishes and tasks that are in accordance to our core values.

arts and crafts, culinary herbs, educational workshops, energy production, fermentation of foods, forestry, gardens, flowers, gardens, cooking, grains, machine & equipment mechanics, medicinal herbs, seed saving, self-sufficiency, solar energy, wild crafting, wood-working, reforestation, hostel management & marketing

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The location promises an easy access to the beautiful surrounding islands, jungles and mountains and even the touristy island Nosy Be (contains an Airport) can be reached by boat within 30min. Therefore I highly recommend buying your flight to Nosy Be and NOT the capital.
Bikes and Motorbikes available, private Motorboat that can get us on team excursions to the adjacent islands, deserted or touristy and is used for weekly grocery shopping in Nosy Be (as we aren´t self-sufficient yet)
The harbour of Ankify is 4 km away. -> Either taxi / or boat are available from there.
Waterfalls and the location of the whalesharks / turtles and Dolphins are accessible from where we are.

Oh and our place is full of animals, Dogs & Puppies, Cats & Kitties, Rabitt and Hamster, Chicken, ducks and a (Cattle) Zébu :)
