Matteo stayed with us for almost a month, and we honestly wish it had been longer. From a human standpoint, we clicked immediately. Matteo is intelligent, respectful, and deeply grounded. But what truly sets him apart is his attitude toward work and responsibility. He is relentlessly proactive, always looking for ways to be a net positive around the house. He never waits to be told what to do, never cuts corners, and never slows down. One day, when I pointed out how constantly active he was, he simply replied: “I don’t want to be a parasite.” That sentence alone says everything about the kind of man Matteo is. In practical terms, there is almost nothing he cannot do. During his stay, he helped with construction and DIY projects, designed and built beehives, carried out electrical work, woodworking, plumbing, and more. His technical versatility is extremely impressive, and his work is done carefully, intelligently, and with pride. Beyond his skills, Matteo was also wonderful with our children. He played with them constantly, taught them new things, shared music with them by teaching them harmonica, and brought culture and curiosity into their daily lives. He is a well-read, thoughtful man who naturally transmits knowledge and enthusiasm without ever forcing it. It is genuinely reassuring to know that men like Matteo still exist. We could not recommend him more highly to any host. All we can hope is that one day he decides to come back to Japan, because he will always be welcome here.

I was here a few years ago and just realised didn't leave a review. It was all pretty positive and flowed well. I had a lovely place to stay in a lotus bell tent with beautiful sunrise. The kids were all very different and each interesting and a character. it's at a fair elevation so amazing views and all little cooler. Host was lovely, we did some climbing and exploring, a wee aerial yoga session where I was feeling like a roosting bat. Interesting cave structures on land as well. Sure I'll return at some point. Thanks guys xx

Ewen stayed with us for about a month and a half, and we could not have hoped for a better experience. He is extremely hardworking, consistently proactive, and always looking for ways to be helpful beyond what is asked of him. He is also impeccably clean, very well organized, and respectful of the house and shared spaces at all times. On a personal level, he is exceptionally polite, agreeable, and easy to live with. What truly set Ewen apart, however, was his relationship with our children. He naturally stepped into a positive, caring role with them: playing, teaching, helping with homework, and even creating imaginative activities like treasure hunts. He played sports with them, shared his knowledge generously, and built a genuine bond. The children loved him and still miss him dearly. Ewen integrated himself into our family life with intelligence, kindness, and maturity. All we can hope is that he will come back one day. We recommend him without the slightest hesitation to any host.

Lorenzo and Chiara are a delightful young couple who did each task willingly and with enthusiasm. I often forgot how young they are because they have a mature attitude to life. Their conversation was lively and interesting which gives joy to an older host. The tasks they undertook for me were hedgecutting, digging potatoes, cleaning the balustrade, applying mulch to gardens and also visiting the local dump. I wish them well on their future ventures and I know that they will be able to achieve whatever they set out to. I recommend them to any Workaway host.

Wow, this review is gonna be tough! We can go all the way with how wonderful an experience we had at Jon’s and Suzy’s. That they had an amazing property tucked into the National Park, incredible accommodation for WorkAwayers where you feel right at home, wild life full of kangaroos, cockatoos and emus around. That they took us into the forest, showed us how they live off grid and made us feel so welcomed. That they have good hearts, two lovely dogs and homemade eggs like we’ve never had before. That they cared about their land and they cared about their animals. That participating on their project (aka work) was fun and very meaningul even when we’re just digging a hole. That they treated us with respect, foster us as parents do and were genuiny grateful for our help. That they were interesting people with lots of knowladge and life experience and tones of unbeliveble stories if you ask. That even when they were calm, inside they have strong fire. It was obvious they enjoyed life and also they were great cooks! Yes, all of this would be truth but still. It doesn’t really tell what our three weeks with them were like. Being their guests we were given more than that. A connection to nature which they live in harmony with and connection with two amazing people who make us believe that the world is still all right. Thank you Jon and Suzy for inviting us to your lives. We will keep you in our hearts forever.

I had three truly wonderful weeks with Mike and Yelena and felt very honored by the trust they placed in me. After just one day, they entrusted me with their beautiful green oasis and all their animals, which meant a lot to me. I deeply enjoyed the peace, the nature, and the calm atmosphere of this place. Even after they returned, I learned so many new things from them and their wide knowledge about gardening, farming, and life in general. I especially loved cooking together with Yelena, making our own pasta was a real highlight. I already miss the dogs and cats. There was nothing more beautiful than sitting by the lake in the evening with the animals, watching the water and enjoying the quiet. The accommodation itself is an absolute dream. You can see in every detail how much heart and passion Mike and Yelena put into creating such a beautiful home. Thank you both for this special time. I will carry these memories with me and can wholeheartedly recommend this place to any Workawayer.

Trisha is an artistic inspiration and tentative host. Her creative home is full of wonderful artworks dotted around the house. I felt very welcome, especially being provided with an eye mask and ear plugs (since I had briefly mentioned that I was a light sleeper) and being offered delicious cake between jobs. Trisha is a delight to be around and we enjoyed working on her laneway garden, cleaning windows and doing some DIY tasks. I am so grateful to have stayed for our 5 days. Thank you! 😊

I had a great two months (and a day!) at La Milpa, as Gaby and Philip had recently decided to name their finca, learning a bit more about permaculture practices in a higher altitude, tropical setting. It was a perfect mix of volunteer activities, time to explore the area on our own, and time to chat with Gaby and Philip. I very much appreciate how they organize the time and bring volunteers along on the amazing journey they're taking with their land. I hope to be able to go back some day to see how the place has evolved!

We had an amazing experience with Carol and Mike. They were incredibly nice, accommodating and full of advice for the rest of our journey in Brasil and what we could do in the area. The food was also amazing and the work very interesting and easy (be prepared for the sun and heat!) It's pretty easy to move around and to go downtown with moto taxis on the afternoon to enjoy the beach, a nice restaurant or an ice cream and there are lots of options to go to other nearby towns on the days off. The only downside is that I didn't get to pet little shy Gory but I'm sure I would have succeeded if we had stayed a couple more days ;) Thank you again !

Hiranya Shreyas and Bolt stayed in our farm for over 2 months. Always happy , great vibes , willing to learn and participate in a task and activity. We had great time working in the farm , clearing wild brumbles, preparing new areas for planting, pruning fruit trees , planting new trees and harvesting olives . Shreyas helped in building the new wood structure for the caravan’s bathroom, and other cleaning tasks . We shared evenings of talks and laughter, while eating dinner together. Bolt - the gentle giant- is the most relaxed and easy going dog ever . Became a good friend of Heavy our dog , and was always peaceful with all the farm animals. Really great experience

I stayed for about one month with Lotta, Tommy, and Bruno in Santa Barbara, and I had an amazing time. Lotta and Tommy are some of the coolest people I’ve ever met. They’re incredibly flexible, relaxed, and never stressed, especially Tommy. From the very beginning, they welcomed me so warmly that I immediately felt at home, like a new family member. I especially loved sharing breakfasts, lunches, and dinners all together at the beautiful wooden table, usually covered with Bruno’s toys and art supplies. This is a very lively home, and I felt more than comfortable sharing it with them. And obviously, Bruno is the best. Such a handsome, well behaved, and funny boy. It’s impossible not to fall in love with him immediately. I really enjoyed playing with him and felt very honored that I, being completely ignorant about Pokémon, was asked to play Pokémon with him. Although there were moments when I wished he’d leave me alone for a second so I could get some work done, I already missed him after just a few minutes once he left for school :D Besides enjoying my role as a newly adopted family member and playing with Bruno, and of course cuddling the cat Canela and the dog Panchula, I learned a lot about woodworking from Tommy. He showed me how to use different tools that I hadn’t worked with before. I helped him build a bed, a wooden platform as a path to the glamping tent, and wooden signs for the campsite. He is a great teacher and clearly knows what he’s doing, having created this beautiful house and campsite himself. He is also one of the most relaxed people I’ve ever met, and his positive mood is very contagious. The same goes for Lotta, who somehow always stays calm while multitasking, taking care of Bruno, cooking and baking in the food truck, and working remotely on her laptop. Beyond that, if you love beaches and sunsets, this is definitely the place to be. I’ve never seen such a beautiful beach with so few people. It truly feels like the Jurassic Coast, and you can often see sea lions and dolphins. Funnily, the campsite itself has such a great atmosphere that I often didn’t even feel the need to walk the two minutes to the beach and preferred staying there instead. The surrounding nature, especially Pumalin Park, is also definitely worth visiting. I’m very grateful that Lotta and Tommy helped me organize everything so I could visit a glacier of the Michinmahuida volcano. The campsite is also a very social place, with travelers camping there, even though I wasn’t there during high season, and Lotta and Tommy’s lovely friends coming by quite often. And there’s always music playing (even in the campsite bathrooms)! At the same time, if you feel like you need some alone time, that’s completely fine too and you can simply take space for yourself. This place is much more than a Workaway. It’s a home away from home, and I’m very grateful to have been part of their happy family :) Now that I’ve left, I miss it a lot and I will definitely come back at some point!
