Dominic is a probably the most clean and tidy Workawayer that we have ever hosted. He treated his living space with the utmost respect. Apart from that he also is a very kind and sweet spirit, lovely to have around. During the time he was with us, we had a period of extreme and torrential rains, so we mostly worked inside the house, did some repair jobs and redecorating. He was a great help at any task you asked him to do. Would not hesitate a second if he wanted to stay again.

Vladi is a very nice guy. He's a big help when he was with us, he not only helped with teaching but also helped me with looking after my dog which giving me some more times to spend with other things. Vladi also helped to look after the house and willing to help with other things if I asked for. He's good with kids and the schools really liked him, they felt sad when he left. He's always welcome back to stay with us.

We had an amazing stay with Caesar at the surf house! He welcomed us with open arms and treated us like part of his family. We were warmed by the wholesome family environment. The locals were super friendly too and we went out one night to a mini carnival ! He gave us a lesson in surfing which was super useful! If your wanting to surf this is the place for you. Onlg a five minute walk from the beach with waves you can ride all day on. He has impeccable knowledge and experience of waves so id definitely recommend doing a lesson with him too. He"ll even direct you where is best to surf when you've got the hang of it! It's been a super fun time and we couldn't reccomend Caesar more. Go and experience surf life at Huanchacao for yourselves, what you waiting for!

We have hosted Lucia and Gaston for over one month in February and early March and can say they were real angels to us. Reliable, smart minds, happy to help and quick to do. We first let them alone in our house while we were having a short vacation; Lucia could comply with urgency and was able to solve a big problem in the village were we live; they looked after our zoo and home in a perfect manner. Gaston is a brilliant mind and and has two hands capable of doing anything: from repairing fences to cooking, through gardening, pruning, chopping wood, lighting fires, insulating doors, walking the dogs, and feeding the animals. Lucia is a cheerful, outgoing, very responsible, and meticulous girl. She helped me a lot with cleaning the house, organizing my domestic (and mental!) chaos, caring for the animals, and so many other things. Lucia and Gaston are a truly beautiful, friendly, intelligent, and communicative couple; we had the chance to chat and speak about our respective countries. They are cultured, curious, understanding, and empathetic. In a month, we created a family bond, as the workaway philosophy should. We miss them greatly and hope they return, but we're happy to have had this wonderful, enriching experience. Have a great life, guys, and see you soon!

I had a wonderful time staying with Roman ,Tereza, Rozi, and Viki. They welcomed me very warmly and made me feel comfortable from the first day, almost like part of the family. Roman and Tereza taught me many things about Czech culture, and I really enjoyed learning about daily life in the Czech Republic. They even prepared traditional Czech food for me, which was a great experience. They were always kind and thoughtful, and they supported me when I wasn’t feeling well, which I really appreciated. The work was simple and clearly explained, so it was easy to understand what to do. They were always patient and helpful, which made the experience very comfortable. Spending time with Rozi and Viki was also very special. Playing with them was always fun and brought a lot of happiness to my days. Time passed very quickly because every day was enjoyable. Because of this experience, I came to really like the Czech Republic. If I have the chance, I would love to visit again in the future. Thank you again for everything. I wish you and your family all the best.

If you ever get the chance to host Angela, consider yourself extremely fortunate! She's a whirlwind of productivity, as evidenced by her impressive work ethic! She painted the home, she helped put together furniture I had shipped to the island, weeded and performed other jobs. All in all, she is an amazing person!

I spend 3,5 weeks at the village in January-February. I was teaching at the school where about 100 kids attend school. I was teaching primary 3 and 4, mainly English and Social studies. I enjoyed the teaching and the kids were eager to learn. I did experience that their level was very low. Some kids could not even read, while that is one of the basic skills kids need to learn when they are young. It did give me motivation to really teach them some of the basics. During breaks I always was hanging out with the kids which was really enjoyable. At first the kids were very shy but after a while they became really interested in me and it was lots of fun spending time with them! The hut where I stayed at was really comfortable. I enjoyed having a private space. Next to that, there was a bathroom with a flushing toilet and a shower. My compliments to Margaret, who prepared all meals for me. Only the portions were a little bit small sometimes. After school I spend time with the four lovely kids who live in the village. This I really enjoyed and over time we became very good friends. We played games, watched movies, made photos and videos and watered the vegetable garden. I am going to miss you, Abraham, Irene, Milani and Rebecca! What I didn't really like was how the four kids were controlled by their parents. Salumba explained me it is their culture but in my opinion it is too harsh. All the time when I wanted to do an activity or wanted to give the children something, permission of the parents was required. Even a biscuit they would reject out of fear of the parents, mainly Cynthia. When she was around the kids, they were not as free as when she was not there. This also affected my experience during my free time. What I also didn't like was how Cynthia all the time mentioned the problems the village experiences. It gave me quite sometimes a guilty feeling that I had to help financially. I came to help the school with my teaching skills, not to finance. Overall, I look backwards to a nice experience at the village. Thank you, Cynthia and Salumba for everything! I give this review 3 stars because I think the description of good aligns the best with this workaway.

Sara is an Angel of love and sweetness. She is one of the most wonderful hardworking and committed volunteers I have hosted.During her stay at the academy ,Sara gained people’s love and respect. Our students and teachers and the other volunteers she was staying with loved her so much and couldn’t part with her.We all wished she had stayed longer. If we have to give her a flower for every single good moment she offered to the school,we will need all the world gardens . We consider ourselves very lucky to have hosted one of the most hardworking and friendliest volunteers and we hope to see her again and again I strongly recommend Sara to any host looking for hardworking, kind hearted and committed workwayers and I will always cherish the hope to see her again and again.Thank you Sara you are THE BEST

Thank you for this. I know you said you would keep it short… but this is not short at all. And that’s okay. It means the place got to you a little bit. First, thank you for the energy you both brought here. The bog bridge you built is now officially part of the trail, and people are already using it. It’s funny how something built from simple natural and recycled materials can slowly become part of the place. I’m also glad you got to play around in the workshop a bit. The rule here is simple "we don't know what we're doing haha" respect the tools, respect the space, and then you can build almost anything. Seeing you learn welding and making that knife with Afiq was one of those good workshop moments. Afiq will be happy reading what you wrote. He really cares about the project and about teaching people. And Zakir… well, as you know, life is just better when he’s around with food and music. Tell Haley the tiger looks really dope. So many people amazed with her tiger mural. The community part is really the best part of this place. The coffees at Min’s, the teh tarik at sunset, random invitations to weddings, events, boat rides… sometimes we also don’t know what’s happening next. We just follow along. And to be honest, when volunteers come here it’s also my holiday too. We work a bit, build things, meet people, eat good food and somehow end up at six weddings. Also thank you for spending time with Aireen and Adrian here. Those small moments matter more than people realise. You both became part of the place for a while, and that’s something we appreciate a lot. Come back anytime. The trail, the workshop, the community and probably a few more weddings will still be here.

Thank you for the kind words. We are also very grateful that our paths crossed. It was really nice having both of you here. You didn’t just visit you became part of the place for a while. Madison, your sewing skills helped us a lot. The things you repaired and worked on might look small, but they make a real difference in daily life here. And Aidan, thank you for helping repair the walls. Your construction skills were very useful. The walls are now stronger because of your work, and the team really appreciated the help. What we are building here is simple people working together, learning from each other, and spending time with the community around the sea. Thank you for being part of it. You are always welcome back anytime.

Brandon stayed with us for two months and did an excellent job. He was primarily responsible for managing the turnstiles, ensuring that all guests entered correctly and smoothly. He also worked on the travelator, where he monitored guest safety and maintained proper distancing between people during movement. Throughout his stay, Brandon was consistently punctual. In our hostel, he was always polite to everyone around him and maintained high standards of personal hygiene. Whenever we asked for help with cleaning, he kept the hostel spotless. We highly recommend Brandon to any future hosts. He is a reliable, hardworking, and respectful individual.

Lili was a great guest for the 5 weeks she was here. She was easygoing, flexible, enthusiastic and helpful. It was always a nice surprise when she took initiative to quietly take care of a task that she noticed needed doing but had not been asked to complete. She was also great company and made meaningful connections with members of the community. Most importantly, she connected with the animals and they all loved her. She will be missed. We wish her well on her continued travels and would welcome her back anytime.

*This is a reference for the school* Wish I could give 6/5 for cultural exchange. Harim is a busy yet caring man, who watches out for his volunteers. He has an excellent intuition for choosing teachers. It was wonderful to assist these smart, kind, dedicated women with consversation lessons. The method is working! I've learnt so much about life in Morocco from both the teachers and the students. Since it was the toughest winter in Morocco in ten years, circumstances weren't iedeal for the tours and if you come in dec/jan do bring thermic underclothing! Some days and nights the house is colder than outside. Loved the regular tajines and couscous by the wonderful Fatima and the exchanges with the other volunteers. Spent a full month assisting in converesation classes in both English and French.

We helped with cleaning around the house and got to explore the surrounding areas and the town during our freetime. Katie and the whole family was so welcoming, lovely and kind.

Being my first workaway hosts Peter and Mayu set my standards through the roof. It was a big commitment for both me and them to stay about 3 months for the snow season, however they couldn't have been more acccomdating. They welcomed me in with open arms and made sure I felt comfotable throughout my entire stay with them. Peter was always comepletely transparent and communicating workwise in with things in the house in general. His own freshly roasted coffee during the mornings were always such a huge bonus! Mayu was always such a huge help with all of the legalities needed and always had opportunities for us to join in Japanese cultural activities and traditions which were always so much fun. Considering they are both such incredibly busy people, they always had time to treat me with various restaurants, foods and alcohol, have great conversations with, play lots of games and sometimes watch movies together! It was also super cool during my time there, I got to meet Bobby! It was amazing to see the way they took such great care from the moment we had got him out from under the car to now him constantly following Mayu around everywhere. Coming to work during the snow season there would be a lot of snow clearing, however they always made sure I still had plenty of time to hit the slopes and were very flexible with that, so long as it didn't clash with work hours of course. All in all it was such an amazing experience and I was sad to say goodbye, seriously couldnt've asked for a better couple to work with!

Krista came to stay very last minute, after another placement fell through. It was lovely to be able to welcome her into the house. Kirsta is a very gentle and sweet person. Often quiet on the outside, she has an inner knowing and strength that guides her through her life. Speaking one-to-one, she was very open, and our conversations felt enriching, authentic and present. It felt special to receive her way of being and insights into her path. She is especially fond of animals and greatly appreciates the solo space of housesitting, which she did for me for part of her stay. She has worked at a cat sanctuary in the past and house sat with pets, which I have no doubt received much kindness and love. Here she looked after many parts of the house and garden, including the pool, weeding, cleaning, pruning, etc. She was always careful to make sure what she was doing was correct and took pride in being attentive and doing a good job. It was lovely to come home to such a clean house and to a garden well tended to. She really values eating healthy, organic food, and it was great to be able to adapt the food I prepared to suit her. Although groups of people are not in her comfort zone, she stepped into attending a singing workshop and helping in the preparations around the gathering. She has a positive outlook for growth and trying new things, even if not part of her regular choices. She is very happy working independently and values setting her own rhythm for the day. I felt confident she would get on with the tasks and ask if she had any doubts. I really admire Kirsta for her clarity and courage, and I can wholeheartedly say she will do her best to look after your home and pets with attentiveness, kindness and a keen sense of responsibility. Thank you for coming to stay and all your help.

Maria stayed with us as a Workaway volunteer and it was a really nice experience. She is very kind, flexible, and always ready to do her best in whatever task she was entrusted with. She works with a good spirit, is reliable, and you can easily count on her. Maria is attentive, respectful, and learns quickly. She brings a true positive energy and motivation, and she gets involved in a simple and generous way.

I have a new friend!!! I haven't done any volunteering since last time I was in Argentina (Patagonia) last year. I was living in Tenerife and I felt I needed a change so I decided to redo Workaway I wrote to some hosts, and Sabine answered me right away, she was so sweet! Explained me everything with such a great detail and care, when we met I suddenly felt I knew her from before. I loved listening to her singing in the mornings, our breakfasts together, she's a magician in the kitchen! I met her friends just nice people, they made me feel like one of them from the very first moment we met. I recommend Sabine's place if you're looking for a calm place, if you like to meet new people and you are eager to discovering new places! Sabine was such a nice companion!!!! I miss you already! Gross bisous ma belle!!
