My experience with Rumi in his cabin was very special. A nice way to connect with the local culture of Sumatra from the inside, in a quiet way and totally away from tourism. We were able to talk a lot and exchange opinions and tastes. It was a real pleasure to know a culture so different from mine and such exotic and wild places with such a very good host.

First, I’m sorry for leaving feedback late. You are very kind and you taught me many things. Pottery, gardening, cooking… everything was very interesting for me. I still miss your chocolate cake, it was so good! The work was simple, like weeding and cleaning. After work, you still helped me and cared about me. You also taught me English kindly. I will never forget the movies we watched and the time together. It was very special for me. Thank you very much, Geoffrey.

I highly recommend Margherita as a volunteer English teacher. During her time at our family run course, Margherita demonstrated dedication, responsibility, and enthusiasm in teaching. She was able to adapt quickly to a new environment and build strong relationships with students of various ages. Her teaching methods were creative, interactive, and easy to understand, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective. In addition, Margherita maintained a highly professional attitude. she was always punctual, communicative, and open to feedback. Her contributions not only helped improve the students’ English skills but also brought positive energy to our entire team. We truly appreciate the hard work and commitment she has given, and we would be more than happy to welcome Margherita back anytime in the future. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Margherita for her dedication in sharing her knowledge with our students at our English course. Best Regards

I've just left the sweetest family ever after (almost) three weeks of volunteering with Dedi. I cannot recommend this volunteering opportunity enough. If you truly want to live a cultural experience, in a breathtaking place, surrounded by welcoming and friendly people, then this is the experience for you. You will have your own room, and you will be lucky to eat Rani's delicious dishes that she prepares with so much love! I joined Dedi's family at their place during Eid Moubarak week and I got to experience firsthand how it is celebrated in Indonesia, and I quickly found out that it is all about community, opening your house to your loved ones, and sharing meals with them. I will never forget how everyone welcomed me to their place even if they didn't know me. Since it was holiday, we didn't have classes that week, so Dedi took me to so many stunning places in the surroundings (Blue Lake, Seven Mountains, Kayu Aro tea plantations and coffee farms). I also had the chance of harvesting, processing, and take home local Cinnamon. Plus, the students were so excited to meet me and kept coming to pick me up and drive me to nearby waterfalls and viewpoints, I will cherish my moment with them and their excitement forever. this has been a truly life changing experience, I never felt like a guest, but always like a memeber of the family; and I'm very happy to say that I have found a second family in the magical Kerinci Valley. No worries for the English classes, Dedi has lots of printed modules that he uses for the different sessions, you can easily go through them with him and then repeat them during the actual class. The students will be very happy for you to be there, and once they break through their shyness, they will ask you lots of questions! I definitely recommend this experience to everyone, you will surely feel welcomed and loved while staying there. I'm still emotionally recovering from my departure.

Dear Paula & Madelyn, thank you so much for your beautiful words, it really means a lot to us 💛 Even though the weather was quite intense while you were here, with so much rain, you both stayed positive, smiling and happy to be part of everything, and that really made a difference. I really appreciated how you integrated into the group. It was beautiful to see how everyone supported each other, not only in the tasks but also on a more emotional level. You were a big part of that. When it comes to work, you were both very reliable and committed. You never complained about any task and always kept going with a great attitude until the end. On a personal level, you are both warm, open and sociable people, and it was truly a pleasure to share this time together. You are always welcome here, and I really hope to see you again one day 🌿 A big hug, Nimea

It's hard to leave a review for this, because it feels more like leaving a review for a relationship, and how do you judge that! Staying with Anand was, I think, the perfect way to start my India journey, he really pushed me to feel and act like a local as much as possible and I am entirely grateful for all the ways he helped me to take the first steps at understanding Varanasi, culture, music and art. The work itself was, as another volunteer put it, a bit more vibes based. To be honest with my short time, the heat, and there being a festival happening, we didn't do much work together but spent a lot of time exploring, chatting and eating the best dosa and street food in the world, for real. I think someone with real power and vision and organisational skills staying a bit longer will help push it forward, Anand has a vision, has already made an incredibly serene space in the middle of madness, and he has all the feeling to put behind it - you can tell just from the way he plays his music which is amazing to listen to, and I can't wait to come back again in the future. It felt more like staying with a friend than volunteering. What a unique way to live in and experience Varanasi, each day was a new story. Good luck with it all, and I'm going to miss Tiger.

Elisabeth is one of the sweetest and most accommodating people I’ve ever met. She is kind and checks in with you frequently to make sure that you are enjoying the work you’re doing and your overall stay. She cooks delicious and healthy meals, and will happily take requests. She is fair about hours to work and the work is very rewarding. I would highly recommend staying with Elisabeth if you want to stay in a quiet town and be close to nature.

I had a wonderful time staying with Matthieu and his family, where I was instantly welcomed into his home. Matthieu is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about many aspects of life, his travels and the world. I feel I have come away with new perspectives and learnt much from him. The land which I stayed and worked on was paradise, waking up everyday surrounded by endless lush green nature. Don't get me wrong the work can be hard, but nonetheless rewarding at the end of the day (where I took many swims in the natural spring pool). The surrounding village is peaceful and small, I met many great friends from neighbours etc. I highly recommend this beautiful experience!!!

We were fortunate to welcome Amitai, Dana, Tom, and Maya. My children had wanted a Workawayer with children, so when we received the offer, we accepted without hesitation. And indeed, the children had a wonderful time. They were engrossed in picking up walnuts and cracking them open with stones to get the insides out at Alps Park in Matsumoto City. Later, Dana used them to make carrot cake. The next day, we went to an amusement pool. The children lined up for the entire time and went down the water slides over and over again. After playing to their hearts' content, Amitai had prepared a wonderful dinner for us at home. They brought lots of ingredients to cook at our house. Halva was especially popular, and it disappeared in no time as everyone put it on everything. Unfortunately, due to the war with Iran, their 10-day stay had to be shortened to 3 days. It must have been a very difficult decision for them to come all the way to Nagano, leaving Dana's parents, who had come all the way from Israel to visit, in Tokyo. We would have loved to spend more time with them, but there was nothing we could do. Although it was a short time, I had the opportunity to listen to Dana's story and learn about Israel. I am incredibly grateful. I sincerely hope for peace.

This place was amazing! My best volunteering experience so far. As soon as I arrived I felt very welcomed and after a week I already felt like home. The food perpared by the local cooks was amazing and it allowed me to dicover new flavors. The manager, Pablo, is the sweetest person ever and is always there if you need anything. The volunteers team was also amazing and the vibe was so friendly. Thank you for giving me a home in Antigua🩷

The meditation center is truly honored to have such a wonderful volunteer. Angelica is upright, sincere, and full of a strong sense of responsibility. We have received the fullest benefit of her genuine dedication and wholehearted efforts. She is someone who continually finds balance and inner peace within herself—such a person naturally possesses an endless source of motivation, never tiring in offering contribution and love to both herself and the world. Thank you.

VERY FUNNY AND AMAZING RESULTS What a cool research she did on how to make a vegetable garden most adjusted to our needs: low maintenance, low need of water, totally respectful with the earth and all warms and others living there and helping, maximum no dig then, beautiful with only natural materials, adjusting to where sun is and where terrain does not slope and where nearby trees do not acidify it... she found an idea by a French man called Phillipe and it was and is amazing! we love it!!! : ) She made one example as far as she could get in the times when it was not raining, guiding us so we could help her, and now other volunteers can continue to repeat the same idea, which we are so excited about : ) : ) : ) So patient and commited: it rained incredibly a lot after the first week while she was here and she adjusted so much to help in inside things then instead of the initial idea in which she would be leading in creating the whole vegetable garden... And she has been such a respectul joyful helpful presence in every living situation: sharing a little house with another workawayer, coming then to live with us in the big house, and then staying with us at grandma´s. She can express her needs and also listen to ours and attend them really well. Really I underline how well she can express what she needs, such an important trait for living and doing things together : ) So easy to live or go anywhere with her : ) : ) : ) It was a little chaotic with a few upside down results at the beginning till choosing the easiest and best understood common language for communication. Lastly Spanish and English spoken slowly worked really well : ) My French is so rusty that I was not managing to explain her the things so well in a way she could really get the message! We solved this by changing the language and also by having her repeat in her own words what I had said. Also her making written lists of the things to do helped her a lot : ) This lady turns to gold everything she touches. Cleaning a copper teapot, a tool room, glasses of windows... so thorough in anything she does that we were always surprised by the result... amazing. Not all workawayers are so devoted to giving a 100% 5 stars result, especially in something they have no particular experience in (she was not a professional cleaner, for example, nor an expert in vegetable gardens... but she is definitely turning pro in both!! : ) .. she would research and do an incredible job. And her helping has always been in such a great attitude! Humble, present and... very funny : ) The boy immediately loved her... and said so ; ) It was a wonder to hear her play the flute through the forest. And so cool to join her in her Breton traditional folk dances... oh, she enjoys this so much that it turns into a party : ) She is full of gratitude, very generous, super kind and in search of her next life steps and purpose while discovering herself and realising that as she sees more of the world her initial ideas change a little, or a lot ; ) ... we thank her with all our hearts and we wish her the super super best : ) : ) : )

I had the opportunity to work as an instructor for five days at an English kids’ camp during the full bloom of the sakura in Aso, Kumamoto. My main responsibilities included contributing to activities (such as games, sports, and cooking), as well as supporting English sessions and ensuring the children’s safety. Although the days were long, we were given sufficient breaks throughout. I especially enjoyed seeing how the children gradually opened up and building relationships with them. It was also impressive to observe how much their English improved thanks to the immersive environment created by the team. On top of that, I am very grateful to Phillip for how well he organized the camp and for always providing the necessary information at the right time. Working alongside other Workawayers made the experience even more meaningful and special.

James is a very organized person. He introduced me to the culture of Valencia and took me to see Las Fallas. I had a wonderful time during my stay. The tasks he needed help with were mostly simple, and there is plenty of free time for yourself.

Sarah appeared and left like a little fairy with a magic stick. She organized and cleaned my really messy workshop like never before ! And she also opened my eyes on a peaceful and detach way of seeing problems. She is a surprising person with a very open mind and her life course is just like her, original ! Thanks a lot Sarah !
