I was supposed to stay for two weeks, but I ended up staying for a whole month and honestly, I wish I could have stayed even longer. In Chom Thong, I met amazing people. PJ and her family are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuine. From the very beginning, they made me feel at home. During my stay, we built a clay house together with other Workawayers. The work was relaxed, fun, and never too demanding. PJ was always happy to share stories about Thai culture and farm life. We also had plenty of free time to do our own things whether it was working remotely, exploring the surroundings, or visiting the national park nearby. And after work? Time to relax! We often went to the nearby waterfalls to cool off, it was the perfect way to end the day. I stayed in a tent at first, which was cozy and comfortable. After a big storm, PJ kindly moved us into a room in the hostel (it was low season), where I spent the last two weeks. The food deserves a special mention: it was some of the best Thai and international food I’ve ever had in Thailand, absolutely delicious every day. Leaving Chom Thong was not easy. I truly felt at home there, and I’ll definitely come back again.

I had the most amazing time with Krischa and her animals at the farm! I stayed for only 12 days and it was not nearly long enough. During my stay, I was able to achieve lots from days working to time exploring the area. Most of my work at the farm was outdoors weeding and cleaning up the large garden. We also went to visit Bonnie, and I helped muck out stalls and brush her coat. It was wonderful getting into the routine of things at the farm. We would work during the day and in the evening after dinner Krischa, Fenno, Max, and I would watch a movie (all exceptional films!). We went on many fun walks with Fenno, and I even took him for a long walk by myself in Eckernförde. Poor Max had a bump on his side that needed to be cared for as well so I helped wrap him up and Krischa brought him to the vet during my stay, I'm very happy he was on the mend when I was leaving. All my hard work was rewarded with sightseeing and experiences. Krischa and Fenno even took me to Flensburg and Denmark! I also got to experience the lovely Haithabu museum. Krischa and I shared many stories and goals and I know I will be back to visit her and the animals at this lovely farm!

We had a really great time with Camilla and Ellis. The place is beautiful, and we felt very welcomed. Our private space in the Sunrise Lodge was very lovely, and we enjoyed spending time with their two friendly dogs. The work was varied and enjoyable, from gardening with Camilla to raking soil and planting trees with Ellis. Camilla cooked delicious meals, and we were happy to join her women’s circle and a yoga session :) They also took us to their local bar and showed us the surrounding towns, giving us a nice insight into their daily life. Overall, it was a fun and interesting experience, and we would recommend this host to anyone looking for a hands-on stay in the Algarve :) Thank you Camilla & Ellis!

I had such a beautiful time staying with Uba & Zara and I’m truly grateful for the whole experience. From the beginning I felt very welcomed. I learned so much during my stay, they were incredibly patient and took the time to explain everything. The work was always varied and interesting, and I enjoyed being involved in so many different tasks. I also want to say how much I appreciated the way they included me beyond the work, the amazing food they cooked, taking me along to different places, and just sharing their private life with me made this experience very special. And of course, their son completely stole my heart💛 Thank you for everything, I would come back anytime!

I spent a little over two weeks at William’s home, and it was truly a wonderful experience. I felt warmly welcomed by the whole family. You can really feel the love and connection they share with each other, which made me feel at home as well. During my stay, we prepared meals together, and I helped with dishwashing, gardening, and trail cleaning. Everything felt natural and relaxed, and I really appreciated the rhythm of life there. I already miss the forest, the creek, and all the animals. I will never forget the campfires under the starry sky and William’s inspiring idea of creating an Epicurus community. All I want to say is thank you for such a meaningful and memorable experience.

Adam was a friendly and attentive WorkAwayer. He did lots of work in the garden post-winter! He completed all tasks 100%, a great helper and a clean house sitter. Adam was a gem. I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Tereza however they are both welcome back anytime. Best of luck on your travels.

I stayed on the Mandarin farm in Payallar for close to a month and loved it. 🍊 Its a very peaceful hotel/farm with a beautiful garden and lots of quiet. I stayed in Sezer's house, sharing the spare room with a volunteer who became family to me :) He is a very welcoming host, sharing generously his food, space and resources and a kind, bubbly person who laughs lots. A real pleasure to be around :) His night time bakery jobs means lots of bread and fresh Turkish baked goods to try, and he often gave us tasty Turkish recipes to try too. Burak and Kadir who run the hotel are some of the kindest hotel owners Ive met and offer so much, with lots of generosity and warmth. The work they give is rewarding, mostly being housekeeping but occasionally some garden work, which ranged from pruning trees to digging a small trench, and it was lovely to be outside in the fresh air, getting my hands dirty. At times, there is some heavy lifting but I feel better for it. Alanya is a 30 min bus ride away from Payallar, but there is also a small town about 20-30 min walk away, with good restaurants, a Wednesday farmers market (which groceries are bought from) and the beach along the highway. Overall, I really recommend coming here. It is quiet, so bring a book or hobbies to do in your spare time, but I feel as if Ive never been so peaceful :) Thankyou to Kadir, Burak and Sezer for being so welcoming and making me feel at home.

Overall a decent stay for a rural experience. Beautiful scenery. Lots of area to walk, hike & explore. Perfect for the independent explorer type. I initially felt very welcome here but would not recommend for a person seeking a real cultural exchange. The town is very small with very few people to meet. Work was pretty light, I cleaned the house twice, attempted to upcycle some furniture but we did not have the right tools..helped maintain the chickens, cleaned their coop, dug a trench for the new coop they were planning to build, assisted in hosting a small gathering, and helped care for/feed the kitties & minded house when they went out of town. Left feeling like "the help." Host recommended taking a cab to the beach to swim; I would not advise anyone to do so. Coastal swimming in Ireland (especially in November) is extremely dangerous to do on your own, even for the experienced swimmer.

Quentin and Claire stayed with us for six weeks. They are polite, enthusiastic, and reliable. During their time here, they assisted with raking, pool cleaning, dog minding, and general cleaning. I was particularly impressed by their work ethic and results-driven approach. They consistently chose the most effective methods to achieve the best outcomes, even when this required greater physical effort. For example, they meticulously raked leaves rather than using a blower, which only provides a temporary result. As a result, the gardens looked noticeably tidier and more well-maintained. I wish Quentin and Claire all the best in their future adventures and highly recommend them to others and prospective employers.

Lu is such a wonderful person - genuine kindness through and through. She can make a dark room bright with her presence alone, and she's just a pleasure to be around. Workwise, she's an absolute professional, hard working and independent. I gave her a very ambitious project from the very beginning, and she delivered far beyond what I thought possible, while still taking full part in the day to day tasks. She completely immersed herself in everything related to my farm and my business, and was very quick to know and understand in which areas I needed help. If it wasn't for the short visa, she'd be welcome to stay here indefinitely, so I really hope she can find the place of her dreams :)

As a volunteer with little experience, she did a good job. We let her use her strengths, and she cooperated very hard. She didn't try to cheat or shirk her duties, and she got along well with us.

Liam was our very first Workaway guest, and hosting him encouraged us to continue with the experience, which we really appreciate. Liam helped with tasks around the garden. He was easy to have around. He integrated nicely into family life, got along well with the kids, and joined some of our activities during his stay, which was nice to see. We also appreciated the conversations and the time spent together during meals and outings. We’re glad we had the chance to host him and wish him all the best with his future travels

Sofia staying with us was truly a wonderful experience, and we look back on her time here with very fond memories. From the very beginning, she fitted into our family life effortlessly. Our kids absolutely loved her, she spent hours playing games with them, teaching and learning from each other, and just being a warm, fun presence in the house. She joined us for family dinners, helped around the kitchen, and really became a part of our daily routine. Sofia also shared her culture and traditional recipes with us, cooking meals that we all enjoyed and sparking many conversations about her home country. We spent many lovely evenings together chatting, laughing, and learning from each other, which made her stay even more special. She worked very hard around the homestead, especially in the garden and the stable, and always approached every task with care, curiosity, and a positive attitude. Her willingness to help and her cheerful presence made a big difference for us. We were genuinely sad to see her leave and truly miss her energy and kindness. Sofia’s stay left a lasting impression on our family, and we would welcome her back anytime, she will always have an open door here.

Romy,Elisa and Daniel.Thank you so much for everything. I feel truly happy and lucky to have stayed here. Spending two weeks in Vienna with such a lovely family was an amazing experience. I really wished I could have stayed longer, and I felt sad when it was time to leave. Romy is a truly kind and caring person. She was always very helpful, taking the time to explain things in detail and making sure I was comfortable. During meals, she would always kindly ask if I wanted more food, which made me feel very welcome. She was also very open-minded, asking me many questions and sharing about herself, which helped me feel relaxed and truly part of the family. Having a cozy room with a big bed and my own bathroom was also one of the reasons I felt so comfortable during my stay. Elisa and Daniel are both very cute and full of energy. They get along very well, and it was heartwarming to see them together. They often invited me to play, and spending time with them at the park or at home.It is my favorite memories. It takes about an hour to reach the city center by bus and metro, so I was able to go there often to watch theatre and go shopping, which allowed me to fully enjoy Vienna. There is also a national park nearby, where you can experience nature. If you want to enjoy Vienna while having a homestay experience, I would definitely recommend staying here.

We feel very lucky to have hosted Natsumi and truly appreciated the time we spent together. From the beginning, she was kind, respectful, and a pleasure to have around. She worked consistently and approached every task with care and dedication, always willing to help. We especially appreciated her positive attitude and the way she quietly but consistently contributed to daily life on the homestead. Our kids loved having her here. They shared great times—and it was beautiful to see how naturally they connected. It meant a lot to us. We also really enjoyed learning more about her home country and sharing cultures with each other. Those moments made the experience even more special for our whole family. Overall, we are very grateful for her time with us and would warmly recommend her to any future hosts. She will always be welcome back here!

Chris was an exceptional guest, and we are very grateful for the time he spent with us. We have honestly never met someone who works as hard as he does. No matter the task, bringing out compost, moving heavy beams, cleaning up, or anything else that came up, he approached it with energy, commitment, and a great attitude. His work ethic really stood out and made a big impact on our daily life here. He also helped consistently with daily chores in the house, which we truly appreciated. Although he mentioned being a bit shy at first, he blended into our family almost immediately. He built a lovely connection with our youngest, spending a lot of time playing and engaging, which meant a lot to us. Chris was very curious and proactive, always looking for ways to help and learn. We really enjoyed our conversations with him and learning more about his life in Montreal and his work. Chris left an everlasting memory. He is a very pleasant and easy person to have around. We would highly recommend him to any host, and of course he is always welcome back here, the hammock is ready for him anytime.

The place is really great and very beautiful. Like an oasis in the mountains with the cat, horse and chickens. Also the Communication was very bad. I wanted to make sure to respect their privacy and their timescedules, so i asked how things should be done. They told me to find my own rhythm in the first week. The next week she said that i started working too late, so i changed it. Then i started when they wanted (what was absolutely no Problem but just tell me to start at a specific time, Not to find my own rhythm If this is a Problem for you) The week after Maria Said i was still Late, what simply was Not the truth. Except of This I thought everything was alright but sadly the other Volunteer informed me that Maria came to me to Speak about me… Maria talked behind my back about how bad my timescedule is and that I eat to much. But to me Maria appeaed as always the friendliest, positive Person. I would have never thought that she does not get along with me. She also did Not respect her own borders of privacy. Because of the simple fact she could Not communicate it properly. They did Not wanted me in theire House for Long or me sitting in Front of the fire. But when i asked whether i could stay or had to leave the house, she would Never tell me to leave…? This did not make any sense to me. Especially when you Host Volunteers in your house you should be able to communicate your borders. It felt like she had to always be sooo nice to everybody to just know that she is the happy-positive Person. But in reality i think she did not have a positive view towards me. So it would have been way easier to just talk. Sadly my stay had to end 3 weeks earlier, out of nothing. Suddenly Maria said that there was „nothing left to do“ so they could not provide any work for the other volunteer and me. It really felt like a lie because in such a place there is always something to do, it was really trustbreaking. The next day I heared the voicemail, she sent to the other volunteer, in which she says that of course the other volunteer could stay longer, it was all „the freaked out guy from the City“. I left by foot walking to the next village Maria is not making sure that people unterstand here needs and borders, because she is not communicating it properly. Then she blamed it on me (of course she didnt wanted me to know it so she sent voicemails to the other volunteer talking bad behind my back) So to summarize: The place is great, the nature is incredible and the waterfall stunning. But when you want to be at a Place where people communicate open, are friendly (Not Fake-friendly because of their ego) and real, you should not come here. I think it was a mismatch

We spent 6 weeks with Frank and Junko and received a very warm welcome. During our stay, we helped maintain their property by cleaning the pool, mainly collecting leaves, doing pet sitting, and general cleaning tasks. In exchange, we were accommodated in very comfortable conditions and shared many warm and enjoyable moments with our hosts, as well as with the other volunteers we met along the way. It was a truly wonderful experience that we highly recommend. We would be very happy to return and spend more time with Frank and Junko in the future.

Such an amazing family. Andi and Ella are the nicest couple we’ve ever met, always trying to do good for us in every possible way and making it the best Workaway experience. We truly felt like part of the family from the very first moment. Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner we shared turned into interesting conversations about all kinds of topics, and we learned so much. We learned a lot about alternative medicine and herbs, off-grid living, and martial arts—but I feel like that was only the tip of the iceberg. Simon and Samuel taught us German through their homework, which we really enjoyed. Not to mention all the fun we had sledding in the snow and building an igloo together.
