Dorota and Wojtek and their three kids were able to create a really welcoming atmosphere the minute i stepped into the house, topped by tasty, hearty, polish food cooked by Dorota and a self-brewed fruit-vodka by Wojtek. Witamy in Poland! During my two weeks with the family i worked on different garden projects like cutting branches, bushes, getting rid of tree stumps and mole hills or painting a wooden bench, all the time enjoying perfect sunny spring weather. When i came into the house, Dorota had always prepared some lunch, we had a coffee together and chatted about anything and everything. Dorota always says her english is bad, but actually it`s absolutely fine to have a decent conversation, so keep on practicing with other workawayers please :) Wojtek usually worked during the day, but when he was free, we also had some really inspiring talks about his time in the UK as an Au Pair or polish and german economy nowadays and one day we worked in the garden side by side, chatting along. In between i played with the two young ones (unfortunately the eldest daughter kept her distance most of the time, but maybe that`s normal for her age), taught them to count in german or prepared their breakfast and lunchboxes one morning. They also made sure, that i had enough leisure time to explore the region, first jogging, then on Wojteks bicycle, going to see the nearby desert and finally on his motorbike and even spontaniously as a driver for Dorota and the kids at a birthday party. They dropped me in Krakow on the weekend to make sure i would also do some sightseeing and on my last night we even went to Wisla to meet some old friends from Wojteks time in the UK and had a wonderful evening in a local restaurant. Dzienkuje bardzo everyone, including the lovely old Retriever Lola, who followed me everywhere in the garden and the cuddly cat Elsa, who came to my room in the evenings. I learned a lot about countryside life in Malopolskie, took some phrases in polish with me and know now how to make "grzane piwo" with egg yolk and sugar, a receipe i will never forget :) Take care and thank you for being such a welcoming family!

Aileen fitted into our home incredibly quickly, it genuinely felt like she became part of the family from the moment she arrived. She has such a sunny, light-hearted nature and brought a lovely positive energy to everyday life here on the farm. She is intelligent, hardworking and curious, always asking thoughtful questions and showing a real interest in learning and understanding what we do. At the same time, she struck the perfect balance between being independent and wanting to be involved in family life, which made hosting her very easy and enjoyable. Aileen is easy-going, easy to please and simply a pleasure to have around. She took farm life in her stride and fitted in seamlessly with both the work and the social side of things. We especially loved that she chose to extend her stay, which meant we could show her more of the very best of Taranaki. We miss her lots and would welcome her back anytime. Any future host would be very lucky to have her.

Bernita did a great job looking after my retriever and keeping my home spotless. I realised that I needed to make instructions clearer at times perhaps due to the language barrier however Bernita completed all jobs thoroughly which was appreciated. I recommend Bernita to other hosts with an awareness that she is also needing time to do her regular job remotely so ideally a separate office space would be preferable.

I spent three weeks on Aotea with Ange & Sharpie and really enjoyed my stay there. Their House is beautiful and overlooking the bay. The room I was staying in was bright and spacious and the bed very comfy. My tasks varied between weeding, mulching, planting in the garden, cleaning and preserving in the house and lots of painting in the shed. They took care of me and made sure I had enough time to enjoy the outdoors, including walking their dog Taco and hiking trails on Aotea. It is a very special place and soo green with many friendly people, like their lovely neighbour. I also enjoyed wonderful breakfasts from Sharpie and lunches from Ange; they were very considerate of my vegetarian diet which I was grateful for. You can really have a good conversation with Ange and Sharpie. I particularly loved listening to their many travel stories! They are good hearted people and I can highly recommend staying with them. I would love to come back one day. :)

Bärbel and Gerd stayed with us for a month. We had a wonderful time together, whether it was leisure time, conversations, or work. They are both very adaptable, discreet, empathetic, and interested. They are open to new and different ideas, and also open about themselves. They were willing to do any job and always did it with a friendly smile. It was like living with them as a true community. They are always welcome!

My experience with Lola was very good, she is a great person to have around the house, very sensitive and keen percieving and communication skills. She has an open heart and likes to share good vibes and open conversations. Always up for an adventure, and she was very gentle with the dogs. Always welcome Lola!

It was a really nice experience to be there with Julieta and Theo. Julieta was really helpful, understandable, and patient. She was really open minded and the cultural exchange was intresting for me, I learned lot of new things! My English is not the best, but she helped a lot and I had opportunity to improve it. And Theo is a lovely little boy! He is always happy, friendly and he was like my little brother, my son and my little friend in the same time. :) Fuerteventura is beautiful and the people too, so I absolutely recommend it! It was one of the best period of my life and I hope, I could go back there!

Roos and Robert stayed with us for 12 days during a very intense renovation phase — and they were absolutely outstanding. They are easygoing, positive, and genuinely fun to be around. At the same time, their work ethic is exceptional: highly self-organized, fast, reliable, and able to execute any task with precision and initiative. You don’t need to manage them — they see what needs to be done and act immediately. They supported us across a wide range of tasks: gardening (including major clean-up, pruning, compost work), full spring cleaning, household support, and preparing everything for the new season. On top of that, they contributed their own ideas and improvements — often things we hadn’t even considered. A special highlight: if you’re lucky, Roos will open her red cookbook and create amazing meals, while Robert provides the perfect soundtrack. We feel genuinely fortunate to have hosted them. They made a stressful period significantly easier and more enjoyable. Thank you both — it was a pleasure. Stay as kind, open-hearted, and wonderfully connected as you are, and don’t lose that as you continue to grow. We’re genuinely curious to see where your journey will take you. You are welcome back anytime — as friends or Workawayers.

I spent a week with Alex, Aziz and their cat Diego. They needed some extra help with the house cleaning and by the end of the week they were like my little family in Guadeloupe. They’re nice, friendly, funny, caring people and I’m so thankful they opened their home to me ! They made everything so easy! And Diego is a very cool senior cat! Thank you for the time shared , excursions and the best meals of Guadeloupe 🫶🏼

I stayed with Freya and David for one month in February / March and it was such a great experience! Their small farm is beautiful, whether it was covered in snow or showing the first signs of spring with all the cute flowers ; it was a lovely place to work. We did a great variety of tasks (seeding, splitting wood, making wood chip paths, weeding, feeding the chickens, fertilising...) which I enjoyed. Freya and David are very kind and welcoming, we shared most dinners together, had great conversations and laughs. They were also available when I had a question or needed anything! Freya shares happily a lot of her knowledge about seeding, growing vegetables, etc. Which I really appreciated, I learned a lot! In my opinion it is nicer to be there with another workawayer / woofer, for both work and free time, but since they always try to have two at the same time, you'll likely have company ! It was my first experience in a small farm and I am glad it was there, thank you for having me 😊💐☀️

We had an amazing experience with Sandrine, Charly and their lovely family. They welcomed us in to their home with open arms. We had many great evenings playing board games and talking. They introduced us to many of their friends and family, and took us on trips to different areas and villages. You are surrounded by beautiful and peaceful nature, and the animals are lovely too! 😊 We worked in their garden, and painted some walls in the house. Thank you for this experience!

Dear host family, Tere and thank you so much for letting me spend such a wonderful winter with you. Over the past three months, I had the opportunity to live with you and help with the dog sledding work. I had no experience or knowledge about dog sledding at all in the beginning, but you kindly taught me everything step by step. You also corrected my mistakes right away, which helped me improve, and it made me want to do my very best to meet your expectations. Living so close to the dogs allowed me to communicate with them every day, and before I knew it, I had grown very attached to them. To be honest, saying goodbye was very hard for me. I am truly grateful that we were able to go through this winter together. Although I may have experienced only a small part of what you do throughout the year, this opportunity allowed me to learn many new things and gain irreplaceable experiences. Outside of work, I was also able to fully experience life in Estonia and enjoy the winter season. Having breakfast together every morning and sharing coffee was something I always looked forward to—it was the perfect start to my day. We went to the forest together and even walked across frozen lakes. The Estonian winter was more beautiful than I had ever imagined. There were even days when it reached -25°C, which was something I had never experienced before. It had been one of my dreams, and I felt truly happy. I also had the chance to join traditional Estonian dance and music festivals with your children. Seeing everyone in traditional clothing and dancing together created such a peaceful and heartwarming atmosphere. Every single day was truly enjoyable for me. Living together, sharing conversations, and experiencing daily life taught me so much. I am sure these experiences will stay with me and become an important part of my life. Once again, thank you so much to all of you for welcoming me so warmly into your home. I am deeply grateful. I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience to any future Workawayers. I truly believe it will become a valuable and unforgettable part of their lives. Please take good care of yourselves, and thank you again for everything. Takumi Ueda

We hosted Julie and Quentin for 10 days and would wholeheartedly recommend them to other hosts. They were always keen to lend a hand with whatever we had to do, hard workers, super-friendly and easy to have around, and we would have them back any time. (Sorry for the late review guys,;as you know it can get very busy around here! All the best for your travels!)

When I was in the house of Tone I feeling really good. She and her husband were wonderful to me, and we spent two weeks together, helping out around the house and yard. I got to see some beautiful places, and the cabin where I slept was really comfortable. I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during their peak season. Sharing a campfire with Tone made it magical. I hope we can get together again someday. I remember them fondly😊

I spend a bit over three weeks living with Dani,Ben and Ayla. It was my first Workaway experience and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Dani and Ben are genuinely the nicest people and went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and comfortable, I felt like a part of the family immediately. Also Ayla is like the easiest child on earth, never cries, always extremely smily ( as long as there is food on her plate 😂). It was a real pleasure „working“ with her and I really enjoyed the long walks at the prom and through the town during her naps. BUT everyone make sure to bring proper shoes you can walk in for hours, you will easily make 15-20k steps everyday. But from my own experience I can say, you will enjoy every single one, because Llandudno is absolutely stunning. Truly as well as every other city and town I’ve traveled to during my time there. I can only recommend to travel as much as possible on the weekends, Wales is totally worth it and sooo extremely underrated!! My personal favourite is Conwy. Which I would have missed for sure without the great recommendations of Dani!! So thanksss for that again and a huge thanksss to Ben for the thousand times he picked me up somewhere no matter the time!!! What also needs to be mentioned is the fantastic, fresh food Dani made every single day. I loved to learn about the mexican food culture and everything just tasted absolutely great!! I especially enjoyed our dinner everyday, which was filled with laughter, and story’s from three different cultures in four different languages. Bens attempts to speak german was the funniest thing ever, but he got better everyday and it was still much better than my spanish🫣. For everyone who wants to work in the nicest family with the cutest baby, living in the most beautiful landscapes ever I would definitely recommend this Workaway!!! I will really miss it and honestly wanted to go back before I even left:( THANK YOU Dani and Ben for everything🫶🏻

Lucas was so much fun to host! He helped us clearing pine trees and building trails in the forest, played guitar with my teenager, and was always helpful in the kitchen. He is very respectful and also tons of fun. We even loved the same music and went to a concert together!
