I had a wonderful time at Iara's house and campsite in Caete. The area is very beautiful and peaceful. It is set rurally so I'd recommend bringing enough food to last you or until you can get a lift into the town. The work itself mainly involved gardening and maintenance around the house and campsite, as well as the check in of a guest. I spent my spare time either climbing, hiking or simply relaxing near the lake. This area of Brazil is very beautiful, and I wish I'd had more time to explore Minas Gerais. Thank you so much for hosting me. Daf :)

Hello Kota! Sorry for the late review. I had a amazing time on Sado. Kota and his family are very friendly and helpful so that you can really get to experience what Sado has to offer. They took me to a nearby festival and I got to see traditions I have never seen before, really cool. If you get the opportunity to go with Masami (Kota's wife) to the drum center I suggest you go. The gold mine museum shows one of Sados biggest contributions to Japan. The work at the guesthouse is not very difficult and Kota explains what you need to well and shows understanding when you are just starting. The work with the tub boats was a experience I will always remember. Its hard at times of course, especially if its windy or wavy. You are not thrown in though and will be able to learn your tasks little by little for the first week or so. Keiji-san is funny and energetic, you can feel his exitement about the tub boats. He speaks a little English and with my limited Japanese we could communicate well. A few of the tub boat workers speak good English and are able to explain things to you in more detail if you need to. The job is great for meeting people and I had many good conversations with coworkers and customers. The locals are friendly and several people would strike up a conversation in daily life. Sado is a great place with alot of unique culture and during my time there I met many people who wanted to show me parts of it. A perfect place to go to after the big cities and a highlight of my time in Japan. Thank you all again!

I had a really incredible time volunteering with Maria, Aldo, Paola, and Valérie. I was only there for 6 days but I felt I had become a part of the family. The house is not far from Santa Marta (me and my friend Millie did a day trip to Tananga from their one day on public transport/hitchhiking), but it's worth bringing enough supplies to last you whilst you're there. The work was very chilled. We helped at the school one day which was very fascinating, it was excellent to see how they are providing an environmental education for children! We also helped with the creation of a fence and some general gardening. Maria's food was also delicious! I really enjoyed my time here and I would recommend to anyone who wants to spend time in a more rural setting. Muchas gracias! Daf :)

Jennifer was truly a wonderful addition to our community here in Rusinga. From the very first day, she showed genuine commitment, kindness, and a heart ready to serve. She worked with our orphaned and vulnerable children with great patience and enthusiasm. In the classroom, she was creative and well prepared, making lessons engaging and easy for the learners to understand. She took her teaching role seriously and always looked for ways to support the students individually, especially those who needed extra attention. Her encouragement and positive attitude really boosted the children’s confidence. Beyond academics, Jennifer connected beautifully with the children during games and outdoor activities. She joined them in sports, helped maintain order, and ensured everyone felt included. The children quickly grew attached to her because she treated them with love, respect, and genuine care. She adapted very well to our rural setting, remained flexible, and never complained about challenges. Instead, she embraced the experience with gratitude and maturity. She was respectful to everyone in the community and built strong relationships with fellow volunteers and staff. Jennifer is hardworking, responsible, and has a big heart for service. Any host would be lucky to have her, and she will always be part of our family here in Rusinga. We highly recommend her!

I stayed with Anushka and Nigel for a week at the start of February 2026. They welcomed me into their beautiful home. I really admire the work they’ve done to regenerate their land. It’s very peaceful! Their two dogs Millie and Coco are gorgeous guard dogs. They also have three sheep and some chickens. The work I was doing was mostly in the garden, mulching and trimming, when the weather was wet I was in the garage doing odd jobs like painting. The work was fair and Anushka was great at instructing me on how to do the work and when to take breaks. Anushka was an amazing cook, I loved all the food she made, even trying wild pig! The three of us had incredible chats over dinner time. I learnt a lot from both of them. The sleep out was very clean and comfortable. I loved watching a film in the evening, from their amazing collection of DVDs. I would really recommend staying with Anushka and Nigel if you’re up for staying a little off grid (there's wifi in the main house) and happy to get stuck into anything. Thank you both for having me!

Wow,we never thought it would be so hard to leave a workaway! We felt extremely welcomed from the moment we arrived, in fact due to adverse weather conditions causing public transport cancellations, Simon generously picked us up from Malaga. After 2 previous negative volunteering positions elsewhere, we were seriously reconsidering future experiences but we must say Gill and Simons generosity, hospitality and good humour were a breath of fresh air. Thankyou again for catering to our dietary requirements, the food was excellent. We were kept busy with a variety of jobs but the work/life balance was perfect. In relation to the location of the Finca, it is in a beautiful rural location surrounded by almond and olive trees with views that go on for miles! Just a 10 mins drive from Alora, Simon and Gill were so approachable and accommodating whenever we wanted to pop into town. Looking forward to future visits......if you'll have us xx

I had an incredible time at Emanuele's beautiful hotel in Puerto Escondido. I stayed for 12 days and loved my time there. The work mainly involved working around the grounds of the hotel, undertaking tasks such as watering plants, re-painting chairs, ensuring areas were tidy for guests, as well as helping Emanuele with his daily tasks which usually involved going to various places in Puerto. Emanuele was a great and very thoughtful host and ensured I was happy during my time with him, and fed me some delicious meals. I was the only volunteer at the time so I had the accommodation to myself which was comfortable. I would have stayed longer if I could! Gracias, Daf

Nolan was a great guest and a very hard worker, going beyond what was expected. I had to leave the center in his care for a few days and he left everything in good shape. He is welcome here anytime.

Gosh, it is hard to summarize the feeling I have for Korina and Guillermo, words do not do it justice..... Simply, they are truly changing the energy in the world and are dedicated to caring for others, caring for this earth, and cultivating love and presence. I left filled with deep gratitude. Gratitude to the plants and medicines, for the others I met along the way, for the time with the children who brought such alegria to everyday, and the utmost gratitude to Karina and Guillermo for what they have created and are sharing with the world. This is an opportunity - an opportunity to be of service. To care for the earth, to cultivate presence, and to strip back your life to see what is real (hint hint only love). Practically about the exchange, expect: - to sink your hands into the earth and projects to build and maintain a community cultivating healing for our world -enjoy the time with little ones that brighten your heart and can keep your spirit playful -support cooking delicious meals and learning about the endless bounty the selva has to offer -enjoy blissful swims in the pond and time to lay your hammock and contemplate life To be of service, to this land and community - was a privilege. All I can say - if your heart guides you here, go! Follow the path of your heart and show up ready to be of service for yourself and others. Go with your arms wide open.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience with future volunteers! We truly appreciate your support, your work, and the beautiful collaboration you built with the other volunteers during your stay. Regarding the daily contribution, we always explain in the first introduction that this is a voluntary contribution for those who are willing and able to support. All goes directly toward supporting the local mamas taking care of the spaces, covering basic household expenses, and helping make the program self-sustainable, with no profit to organisation. This allows our NGO to use its external donations specifically for regenerative grassroots programs and capacity building within the community to grow its impact through empowerment of local changemakers. If anyone is not in a position to contribute that way, we absolutely consider situations and also offer spots free of charge, as knowledge exchange and shared learning are always our priority if the skills align with community needs. Thank you for being part of this journey and for contributing to positive change. We are so happy you had a meaningful experience and hope you carry it forward into your future adventures. All the best from the whole team! May you have safe journeys ahead!

I had the best time staying with the family. I felt really welcomed by the whole family. The kids were really fun to play with and I did lots of activities like skiing and climbing with both them and on my own, so I was never bored! Chur is a beautiful city and there’s so many outdoor activities to do from the city. There was not too much work at all, therefore I had lots of time to explore the surrounding area. All the food was lovely and very healthy. Can’t wait to see them again!

Luis was a great host! He took us on a tour to 7 lakes a couple days after we got there. Very beautiful hike! I also went on a tour to Rainbow mountain, highly recommend doing that while you're in Cusco! We met and got to know so many incredible people from all over the world, one of whom we're meeting up with again tomorrow! The dog shelter has come a long way and there are so many sweet dogs running around and getting pets and cuddles (also just laying around and sleeping lol)! We helped with the horses, cutting grass, picking up dog poo, and painting some chipped exterior of the house with mud. Also helped with cooking a lot. Anything you do there is enjoyable because you can just look up and see huge beautiful mountains all around you! We had a great time here. Thank you Luis for everything!

I spent a very fruitful 11 days here! The work schedule is great for having a balance of having time to yourself, and feeling like you are leaving your mark on the space. Luis is a super chill guy and makes you feel very comfortable. He was happy to answer my many questions and share his knowledge. Along with the general manual labor that I did, he taught me a little bit about building with cob. It's pretty easy to get to San Juan and to a very beautiful quiet beach. I recommend using your time here to slow down and enjoying being disconnected. The lack of electricity makes the experience that much more valuable. The sleeping situation is comfortable too.

I spent 9 wonderful days at Yucels farm in Kas, and it was such a great experience. The farm is surrounded by beautiful mountains and gave me so much peace. As a bicycle traveler, stepping away from the road to change my routine and daily activities was exactly what I needed, and I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. The daily work was very rewarding. I learned so much hands on about permaculture, pruning, planting, and building terraces for the plants. Yucel is an incredibly welcoming and patient host who really makes sure you have everything you need. His dog Bobo is such a sweetheart and made the best working companion. The house itself is lovely and very comfortable to live in. I 100 percent recommend staying here. Thank you my friend for the great time we shared, I truly hope to return and that our paths cross again soon.

Having **Ales** with us for two weeks was a blessing. We were able to make great progress on a major project; he was an invaluable help thanks to his strength and his tireless work ethic, always doing more rather than less. In addition, he adapts to everything, is very easy to live with, and the boys really enjoyed talking and spending time with him. I highly recommend him.

Filippa & Nicolai were two of the best Workawayers we had. They did wonders with the primary students at the public school and also did some beautiful paintings on the school wall at the request of the school principal. They did sports with the village kids that helped their English communication skills. The duo learned to play cricket from the local kids and became adept at it, too. They were very close to the host family, and they adored them. Little Bivon will miss them a lot. They went an extra mile by teaching our online students by extending their services to additional hours, too. They loved the duo as they were very friendly and creative in teaching. The teenage students enjoyed the lessons a lot. I wish they worked longer here. They promised to teach the students online even after going home.

What a beautiful three months at this magical finca ✨ Even before I arrived, Mo & Kiki were open, flexible, and thoughtful in their communication about my stay, which immediately set the tone for what was to come. From the moment I stepped in, I was embraced with genuine warmth into the little family they had created with a group of truly wonderful volunteers. It’s impossible to name all of the lovely memories but some highlights were; the buzzing, connective energy around the olive harvest, wild mountain hikes, falling in love with their animals, orange harvesting, cocoa ceremonies, crafting, wild swimming, sharing excellent food, dancing, dinner parties, and so much more ! What I treasured above all was the way Mo & Kiki welcomed me, and other volunteers, into their wider community. From the very beginning, we were not treated as temporary visitors, but as friends. They introduced us with such warmth and sincerity that we were immediately accepted by their circle, made to feel genuinely valued and at home. One of their friends hosted a four-day fiesta, which became such a beautiful and memorable gathering. It was more than just a celebration; it was a vivid expression of community and connection. Being involved in the preparations felt profoundly meaningful. Over the course of my time there, I slept in four different places, each offering its own distinct rhythm and atmosphere. I especially cherished the privacy of the cute, little caravan, tucked away surrounded only by rosemary and thyme, with the mountains rising quietly in the distance. Later, sharing the guest house with Robert while we house-sat for a few weeks was equally beautiful, having our own little house was a huge privilege I’ll always be grateful for. Having fewer volunteering hours each week than I had experienced in other Workaways gave me the opportunity to focus more intentionally on my own projects. Because the workload was very different from other placements, the experience felt unique. Kiki & Mo were incredibly encouraging and supportive of our own pursuits, and created a nurturing environment to allow us to grow not only as individuals, but also collectively as a community. I will always be deeply grateful for my time at this wild finca with these two wonderful beings. The freedom and ease I experienced with them was like no other, trust came naturally and life flowed without pressure or expectation. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for everything - until our paths cross again! 🫒🤍

I spent two amazing weeks near Fort Langley! The house and the garden are both large and beautiful, making it a very pleasant place to stay. The hosts, Manijeh and Jim, are incredibly welcoming and kind. I really enjoyed our many conversations together; it was a great way for me to truly discover Canadian culture. I felt right at home throughout my stay. Regarding the work, I felt very free in my tasks. It was especially pleasant as I was able to work in the garden during the beautiful weather, which I really enjoyed. I had the chance to visit Fort Langley, and the surrounding cities like Vancouver or Langley are accessible. It’s about a 50-minute walk to the nearest bus stop, but the hosts were kind enough to lend me a bike, which was a fantastic way to get around! I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a warm and authentic stay.
