I had a really nice stay with Erasmo for 5 days. The work was varied, interesting, and never too hard. We worked around 4 hours per day, and I had the rest of the time free to relax, explore, or enjoy the peaceful surroundings. I especially enjoyed learning about woodwork and making my own olive wood spoon, which was a great experience. Erasmo is a very kind, helpful, and generous host. He communicates well and always makes sure everything is clear and comfortable. Even though I was the only workawayer during my stay, I felt very welcome and had a good cultural exchange. The place is beautiful and quiet, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature. His two dogs are also very friendly and nice companions. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend staying with Erasmo to anyone looking for a simple, authentic, and enriching Workaway.

We absolutely loved our time here and was one of our highlights during our year in Australia. We couldn’t have ended the trip in a better place. The whole family (and Kylie of course) was so kind and welcoming - we very quickly felt we were in a home away from home. They are such inspiring people - we took away many skills and learnt so much in the month that we were there. We loved having the chance to help out with so many aspects of self-sufficient organic farming and hope one day we put some of them into practice ourselves. The arrangement was very fair especially as the food was amazing and we enjoyed being round all the animals so much. Sleepy Hollow was a beautiful location, we managed to get to some incredible beaches and walks while we were there and even saw the southern lights. They have supported us so much and we are so grateful for all the help they gave us. We would love to return but in the meantime hoping to remain in contact. Thank you so much for having us!

This was truly the most incredible and unforgettable experience, set against the backdrop of an absolutely breathtaking location that felt like a hidden paradise. Beyond the scenery, what made this stay so special was Isa. She is a remarkably wonderful person who radiates endless generosity, openness, and a genuine sense of joy that is completely infectious. If you ever find yourself with the opportunity to visit or volunteer at Kalkhorst, consider yourself one of the lucky ones, it is a rare and transformative place to be. During my time there, I wasn't just completing tasks; I was building deep, meaningful connections. I walked away with lifelong friends while working side by side on various projects, and I am already counting down the days until I can visit them again.

We spent four beautiful months with Suzanne. She became not just our host, but truly part of our family. Leaving was very emotional for me — I even cried. Suzanne is a warm, kind, and genuine person, and we always felt welcome with her. Communication about the work was open, honest, and fair. The land is absolutely stunning, like a little paradise. We will always remember this time with gratitude and joy, and we wholeheartedly recommend this experience to kind-hearted people.

We stayed at Özge's for about 12 days in march '26. We spend most of our time with her father, who is a very handy and very kind man. They always made sure we were comfortable and well supplied with food. During our stay the weather was kinda cold and they supplied us with heavy blankets and an electric heater, so our nights were warm. The bathroom was separated from the house so it was a little inconvenient for us, but we know they're planning on improving the volunteers accommodation, so this won't last long. Also, in summer time this wouldn't be an issue. Our work included renovating a metal fence (sand paper and paint) and painting some disinfectant on their trees. Our work schedule was very flexible and we were usually given precise instructions but then we were independent during our working hours, which was perfect for us. We recommend this place to travelers and we hope to come back!

When Bea offers to help, make sure to grab your phone and answer as soon as possible, because she’s such a blessing! With her hands on mentality, no task is too much. She goes above and beyond and only stops when the work is done. Apart from her work ethic, she’s an interested person, clean, on time, reliable, trusted, easy to have around and an, drumroll please, AMAZING cook! So, yes, absolutely, 10000000% recommended!

it has been one of the most rewarding Workaway experiences I’ve ever had. Working side by side with Richard has been an absolute pleasure, and the exchange of knowledge has been truly invaluable. I would love to have the opportunity to do it again. Thank you so much, Richard.

Teacher Goh and her students made my time in Malacca truly unforgettable. It’s been a while since I was there, but every time I think about it, it still makes me feel happy and warm. She is always so kind and thoughtful. Even with a busy schedule, she made sure everything was well taken care of. We chatted like friends and explored the beautiful spots in Malacca together. The kids at the school were lovely. I especially remember helping them with their homework—sometimes their little mistakes would make me laugh so much. When I was leaving, they even prepared a farewell for me and danced on that day. They brought me so much joy and also really touched my heart. I’m really looking forward to going back to Teacher Goh’s home and seeing her and the kids again :)

I spent two months with this wonderful family through Workaway, and since it was my first experience, it was truly special. The place is magnificent, surrounded by Norwegian nature, perfect for anyone who loves peace and breathtaking landscapes. I had the chance to do many different activities, which made every day interesting and engaging. The family was super welcoming, kind, and helpful from the very beginning, making me feel at home. The children are lovely and well-mannered, and it was a pleasure spending time with them. I felt really, really good during my stay and I will carry beautiful memories of this experience with me. Thank you so much for everything!

Hi Yogendra’s family, Together with a friend of mine, Anna, whom I actually met for the first time at Rome airport, I spent around ten days at Yogendra and Anita's home. This experience filled my heart with joy, love, and curiosity. Spending part of our trip with the family enriched us, as we became closer to Nepali culture, lifestyle, and habits. We had dinners together and walked through the markets with Anita and Yogendra, surrounded by the first lights of the day. We always felt welcomed. Thank you very much to Yogendra, Anita, Aria, Ayshree, and the little dog Sinjo. Bhaktapur is a lovely city, very old and well preserved, mainly after the huge effort the population put to rebuild the city after the earthquake. It is way more authentic and relaxing to spend time in this city rather than Kathmandu, which is also very beautiful, but crowded. We volunteered in a small public school. You can see that the children attending classes belong to very poor families. When you enter the school for the first time, a mix of contrasting emotions overcomes you. There are different schools in which you can volunteer. This school had no more than two volunteers in the past, as the teachers told us. This was evident after seeing the excitement and curiosity everyone showed toward us. The teachers are lovely. They wanted to talk with us a lot. One of them invited us to celebrate her daughter’s birthday. We spent the entire day with them and slept at her place in Changunarayan. The children hardly speak English. It is difficult to communicate and teach them. Also, although the teachers were lovely, they often left us alone during class time. In that case, it was much harder to teach, considering the language barrier between us. This doesn’t mean we felt uncomfortable, but I had some concerns about the children’s learning process. As I said before, having volunteers at the school was something new for the teachers, and I am sure they will get used to it and learn how to collaborate with volunteers. Thank you again for welcoming us as a part of your family. See you soon! Lorenzo and Anna

I had an amazing 3 weeks here. Everyone was welcoming, considerate, and I had opportunities to work, contribute, and do my own thing. You can learn new skills and participate in building useful and valuable things.I really enjoyed the vegan and bio food because I had never experienced something like it before, and it was really healthy and I could notice the positive effect it had on my personal wellbeing :) The area is beautiful and I was able to explore (I could even borrow one of their bicycles). I found the unheated room to be far too cold to stay in as it was still winter when I arrived - but this was communicated as a possibility on their profile. I subsequently moved to the couch inside their home - and this turned out to be an unique and really fun experience. I do believe they are planning to build better accomodation for workawayers (they've only been their for a few months so it's all understandable), and nevertheless, as I said, I'd really recommend staying on the couch inside, it was a memorable experience! Maybe however the outside room is liveable in the summer... To anyone who wants to go, I would mention that the 4 kids make it an often chaotic and unpredictable environment indoors, so just be aware of that :) But the kids are amazing and sweet (most of the time haha) and it's a rewarding experience for sure.

Sophia was a delight to host. She took on the Kitchen Captain role, which is very important when hosting a group of volunteers! We have a large kitchen from which we prepare 3 meals daily, and she kept it clean and organized. She showed up for the other volunteers and was willingly helped everyone. The other volunteers enjoyed her company too, and I can truly say that tears were shed when she left. We hope she'll return and thank you very much for her 2 weeks with us.

I feel truly lucky to have had you as my volunteer and English teacher. Your dedication to teaching here has far exceeded my expectations. I especially want to thank you for your incredible patience and for being so punctual every single day. Your kindness made me feel comfortable practicing, even when I struggled with my 'logical' thinking process or my habit of using Thai transliteration. I have already put your advice into practice—both learning in full sentences and switching to the desktop version of Duolingo—and it has been incredibly helpful! It was a great honor that my home provided the peace you needed to finish your book. You are more than just a volunteer; you are a brother and an outstanding mentor.

Grishma was a pleasure to host. She's genuinely talented at photo editing and video making, and her work was impressive. On top of that, she's just an easygoing, jolly person to have around . Always pleasant and no trouble at all. Would happily host her again and recommend her to anyone.

I’m really happy that I had the chance to meet Eva and Marco. They approached every task with great care and professionalism, and I truly appreciated how responsible and detail-oriented they were. They are also very warm and genuine people, and it was always a pleasure talking with them. Unfortunately, I couldn’t spend as much time with them as I would have liked due to my work, which I’m a bit sorry about. I hope our paths cross again in the future. Wishing them all the best, happiness, and good luck in everything they do 🙏🏽

I stayed with Stephanie for 6 weeks and had a great taste of Mallorcan life. Thank you Stephanie for offering a lovely first workaway experience. The girls are sweet and energetic, thank you Maya for helping me with the paddock and Isla for teaching me chess!! 🫶 My responsibilities consisted mainly of simple cleaning, cooking, feeding the animals, cleaning out the paddock and of course spending time with the girls. The animals are lovely and I enjoyed caring for them, miss you Rex! 🐕 Mallorca is wonderful and I’ve fallen in love with the island. I had plenty of time to explore and made the most of the city and beaches. The bus network on the island is great and there’s a bus stop close to Stephanie’s house to take you to Palma or in the other direction towards the local town where the closest hikes start. You do have to pay and the cost can add up over a longer stay but it is very accessible. Thank you again Stephanie for taking me into your home and making me part of the family ☺️
