We had a terrific 2 weeks with Joe and Paula. Joe has ample experience with construction and is a fun work leader and teacher. They taught us a lot about the homesteading lifestyle and local archeology and anthropology of interest. Their DIY tiny home with lofted sleeping area was charming and comfortable, with a beautiful view. My partner and I are already familiar with off-grid living like van and boat life, so this situation was comfortable for us--conserving water, using miminal electrical devices, and the shower is not plumbed but rather has a bucket you can fill with kettle- heated water. The propane heater kept the place wam and cozy, and propane stove and stocked kitchen were great for cooking meals. We also enjoyed visiting Durango and closeby National Park sites as day trips. Overall, we would be happy to return and do it all again, as we now consider them friends. Thanks Joe and Paula!

We stayed with Lina for a week in autumn and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the very beginning she made us feel truly welcome and at home. Lina is a kind, open-hearted and thoughtful host who always makes sure that you enjoy your stay, have enough free time and take proper breaks during work. She is polite, approachable and you can always turn to her with any question or concern. The work mostly involved helping with house renovation and gardening, and everything was well explained and nicely organized. The area is calm, beautiful and perfect for relaxing. Lina is always happy to recommend places worth seeing or to invite you for a lovely walk together. I (Martyna) can also highly recommend going for a run with her :)

It is a beautiful place and it was our first Workaway experience in Panama. We had a lot of time on our own, which allowed us to read, relax, and explore the surrounding area. Two weeks were enough for us to get a good impression and fully enjoy the experience. Every three days Javier came by and was always very friendly, helpful, and approachable. He gave us new small tasks and trusted us to organize ourselves and decide when to complete them. Especially the beach clean-up was a particularly beautiful and meaningful experience for me. I would not recommend going to the camp without a boat if you are traveling with a lot of luggage, as it can be quite challenging. But you will find out your self :) Have fun!!

we had such a lovely time house and pet sitting for this family! they are incredibly kind and welcoming, and their home has such a warm, peaceful energy. their dog is an absolute sweetheart- so affectionate, loving, smart, and wonderfully well behaved. and the cats are equally amazing- cuddly, sociable, and full of personality. we had everything we needed and felt completely at home during our stay. it was a truly great experience, and we would be so lucky to get to come back again!🙏🏼

Fue posiblemente la mejor experiencia haciendo voluntariado que hayamos tenido hasta ahora! No podemos irnos mas contentos despues de haber compartido un mes con Yani y su hija, Zahi. Nos hicieron sentir como en casa, nos enseñaron mucho, y descubrimos tambien una zona muy bonita de la Patagonia. Definitivamente, cuando volvamos a Argentina tenemos pendiente volver a la Aldea en el Bolson, o donde sea que esten Yani, Zahi, churro, Shisha y Fauna para seguir compartiendo experiencias y vivencias. Des de Catalunya os deseamos lo mejor!

I spent a month with Juli, and she was a truly lovely host. My experience working for her was something special. The tasks were not too hard, the communication between us was working really well, and she gave me the freedom to be creative with the food I prepared, which I really appreciated—especially since she’s not a picky eater :). Even though she was very respectful of my privacy, she was also warm and welcoming and made me feel like part of her little family. She introduced me to a few of her friends, who are just as open and communicative as she is. Babysitting was never a problem because her baby Theo, is joyful, easygoing, and very advanced for his age. If you’re looking for a calm, warm, and homey experience, you can’t go wrong with choosing them as your hosts. Thank you, Juli, for everything!

this workaway was a truly special experience! I was amongst the first workawayers to travel there and since there was a taifun during that time we had a lot of complications. Still it was amazing how tree managed to make it a great experience for us although the living conditions weren't the easiest around that time. it was really nice to get into contact with the locals there but also to live in this beautiful nature. Tree taught us a lot about how to shape nature to make it accessible without destroying it which was really hard especially after a taifun. it was overall a really special experience and I'll remember the time with gratitude

I have spent almost a month in the Guesthouse and It was one of the best experience in my entire life! Bellinges will always have a special place in my heart, I have met several friends from all over the word. All the managers were really nice and helpful and I've also appreciated the work in its own way. I really suggest to everyone to do a swing by Bellingen cause Its really worth It.

Yordi stayed 3 weeks with us on our place. He was a great support in garden, household and even with the kids. Plus I learned more about plants. He was very easygoing, we had nice talks and laughs. What I really appreciated was, that he was also taking his time and flexible with my plans. Felt like beeing with a flatmate. All in one a calm, helpful and funny young man. Happy to welcome him again for another visit or stay. Garden keeps growing now. ;) Thanks to you, Yordi!!!

Ha sido un verdadero placer tener a Paolo y Luthien con nosotros en el refugio. Durante los 3 semanas aquí, demostraron ser voluntarios muy comprometidos y trabajadores. Se encargaron con mucho cariño y dedicación de las tareas diarias, como pasear a nuestros animales, darles de comer y brindarles la atención que necesitaban. Su amor por los animales es evidente, y los cuidados que les proporcionaron fueron lindos. Además, participaron activamente en el mantenimiento general del refugio y alrededores. Se encargaron de tareas de jardinería, pintaron el techo con mucho esmero y ayudaron en la limpieza profunda de nuestro depósito y vehículo, dejándolo en un estado que nunca habíamos logrado antes: ¡un trabajo realmente impresionante! :D Paolo y Luthien son personas comunicativas, siempre dispuestas a colaborar y muy amables en todo momento. Su actitud positiva y su disposición para ayudar hicieron de su estancia una experiencia muy agradable para todos nosotros. Les deseamos lo mejor en sus futuros viajes y sin duda los recomendamos a otros anfitriones. ¡Serán siempre bienvenidos en nuestro hogar!

I've been three weeks with David and Rachel and It was an amazing experience. They are really nice people, very welcoming and willing. During my staying they showed me some beautiful spots near the Lismore area, the nature was really overwhelming, and they introduced me to their friends. I had three stunning weeks and always be grateful to them.

Susi was an incredible help to us and an awesome person to be around. She fit right in with us and happen to stay for 7 months. She takes responsibility and pride in her work to the point you don’t have to ask if a task is finished because she’s done it already. Susi goes above and beyond and truly cares. When she was taking care of our animals or helping on a construction task she was amazingly helpful and easy to work with. She comes with good communication skills and takes interest in everyone she talks to. We would most definitely have her back in a heartbeat, Susi is and always will be apart of our family.

We had a lot of fun with Malaika & Daniel. A couple with an amazing energy and always ready to help is the kind of volunteers that any project needs. They brought their van from Germany !!! That’s so cool !!. We really enjoyed the time we spent with them and we can highly recommend them as volunteers. Thank you so much guys for coming to our farm !! Best wishes for your travels 🫶🏾🙏🏾

Jitka put an incredible amount of energy and dedication into helping us – truly mega power! She did a fantastic job in the garden: cutting, sawing, digging, planting, and general maintenance, all very independently and with great care. During our 10-day absence, she also took excellent care of our dog and cat, so we could travel completely relaxed and without any worries. On top of that, Jitka is very curious and interested in everything, extremely friendly, and a genuinely pleasant and engaging conversation partner. Having her with us was not only a great help but also a real personal enrichment. We can fully and wholeheartedly recommend Jitka and would be very happy to host her again anytime!

Josie, John and Moses are very wonderful people. Josie took us in during a storm and gave us a bit of work in exchange for a place to stay. we are grateful for her hospitality and know with 100% certainty that we would like to come back one day and anyone who goes to Petrolia with a good attitude should have a wonderful time!

I spent 10 days with Deepak and Kaushila in December 2025, and it was my very first Workaway experience, and it was absolutely amazing. First of all, meeting Deepak and Kaushila was truly wonderful. We immediately connected very well, had many easy and meaningful conversations about everything and nothing, shared a lot, and genuinely spent great moments together. The fact that they speak English perfectly made communication very easy and natural. Regarding the work, I was there during the low season, and there was absolutely no pressure at all — quite the opposite. I really felt a sincere desire to share knowledge and skills. I felt much more like I was attending a kind of masterclass, given with genuine pleasure, than being considered as workforce. Of course, it takes a bit of time before becoming efficient at tea picking. During my stay, I did gardening, tea harvesting, and learned how to prepare different types of tea. I also had plenty of free time. The environment is simply wonderful. I could walk to the nearest village in a bit more than half an hour, we attended a traditional festival together, and even just spending time in the garden was incredibly peaceful and relaxing. As for accommodation, everything was perfect. I had my own room, a clean bathroom and shower, two meals a day shared with them, tea available all day (of course!), and always the possibility to cook something extra if I was still hungry. Life at the family’s farm is peaceful, following the natural rhythm of the days and of tea. I would also like to mention that paying a few dollars per day felt completely normal and legitimate considering the quality of the accommodation, the food, the cultural and human exchange, the amount of work expected, and the fact that this is truly a small family-run farm. Everything felt fair, transparent, and respectful. I truly had a wonderful stay and honestly wished I could have stayed much longer with them. Thank you again for everything, The Jam’s boss

Julia stayed with us for about 10 days, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was an absolutely perfect match for our family and the kids. From the very beginning, Julia showed kindness, openness, and respect, and she quickly became a natural part of our daily life. Her playful and caring approach with the children was wonderful to see—they adored her! Julia contributed so much to the overall well-being and harmony of our home, and her positive energy made everything easier and more enjoyable. We can only highly recommend Julia to any host who has the opportunity to welcome her. If we ever have the chance to host her again, we would do so with thrill.
