    Description

I am located in Bourges which is a wonderful medieval town with lots of tourism and history. 40 minutes away, we are in the middle of Sancerre reknown for its Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. We are also 20 minutes away from Sologne where huge forests are to be visited. The accomodation is a room with WIFI. Electric bikes are also available for exploring the area.
I have recently sold my business which was hosting and feeding young underage migrants for the regional government. I have bought a small "pied à terre" in Bourges which is walking distance from the city and behind the trainstation.
I am the producer of a local radio program interviewing on site owners of tourism resort or activities. Winter is a good time to prospect for this activity and I have the help of the regional tourism office.
My new abode will need some care, specially the outside area and I would love to have some input from an experience gardener. I am conscious of the climate change and would like to plan a garden which takes this into consideration for the type of plants to plant.

You will learn about our food and wine culture. You will certainly learn about history as Bourges has been the theatre of many historical events throughout the century. World reknowned wine growing areas are just round the corner and always scenic to see at any time of the year.

The workaways should have an interest in food as it is an important subject to discuss specially in France!!! You will experience French and international food and the exchange of food cultures is more than welcome! I like workaways to plan a 2 weeks stay minimum in my place.

Help requested is generally some maintenance skills of an ordinary house... Some painting, caring of the garden, cooking with me... artists to decorate outside walls would be more than welcome!

Also I will be needing someone responsible to live in my house for the months of March and April 2026. Only highly recommended people on the workaway site need to apply as my 2 cats, Voltaire and Victoire are very special and require lots of TLC.

I like the sharing of cultures which I find very rewarding and enriching. I have travelled to many country myself , visited and lived in some of them for a while( Australia 25 years, Canada, Spain, Uk, USA, Vietnam, Luxembourg,Albania, Finland....). I can show you around the place and I take my job as a host very seriously as you will see from the commentaries of workawayers who have been to my place... I am easy going and loves a good belly laugh, an excellent wine and good company. Buses are free in and around Bourges and 2028 the city has been named the Cultural Capital of Europe. There is a "Maison de la Culture" which shows foreign films and arthouse movies. The "Canal du Berry" is a bike trail worth doing. Markets with fresh produce and colorful stallholders are on Saturdays in the "Halle au Blé", a magnificent building of the end of the 19th century and on Wednesday in the Chancellerie, a very ethnic market in a working class area. The cathedral is UNESCO listed and definately worth a visit as well as the "Palais Jacques Coeur", our Marco Polo...
