Clara visited us shortly after Storm Kirstin and her grounded and conscious presence was very welcome. She took our hectic last minute change of plan in her stride and adapted to our needs which is highly appreciated. Ready for action and working unsupervised, she contributed hugely to our replanting project and we were impressed with her plant knowledge and attention to detail. Always ready with a smile and full of energy, she honestly leaves a very positive light in her wake. Thank you Clara for gracing us with your presence, for leaving behind not just seeds and spices but new skills and memories and may life be abundant with all that is good for you.

My first Workaway - and it set standards high. I took part in the Spanish School option, so enjoyed brilliant private classes with amazing teachers at suuuuper reasonable prices. I stayed for longer than I planned - it is very easy to get used to the beautiful surroundings, yummy food and wonderful people. A truly lovely team to be apart of - thank you so much to Jesse and every single member. Buen suerte con todo - los extraño mucho <3

It was my first volunteering experience. At first, I was apprehensive, but after entering this wonderful home and meeting the family and the extraordinary people with their unique and beautiful personalities, I felt comfortable and safe. They are truly a great and unique family. Starting with Thomas, I felt in him the spirit of a father and an older brother. His lightheartedness made me feel at ease. Then Kim, a beautiful, unique, strong, organized, and natural leader. You will never find anyone like her or with her qualities. She seems like a woman of steel, but in moments of fun, she is gentle, cheerful, and full of joy. I don’t think I will ever meet anyone like her. Then Marvin 🫶👊, my brother, who is very close to my heart—kind, affectionate, a little crazy, generous, and always helpful. I love you so much, my brother. And Martin, with his organized and tidy mind. He seems to me like a scientist or a doctor. If you need advice or help from a reliable source, Martin is the answer. I love you, my brother. And Katrina, whose beautiful laughter and positive energy you will never get tired of—always smiling and laughing. It wasn’t just a volunteering experience; it felt like staying with my second family. I say to everyone: if you want to learn, gain skills, experience love and friendship, play, have fun, and enjoy plenty of food—go without hesitation. I love you all guys 💗 and I will come to you again soon. I will definitely never forget u and San Patrick's Day. 😉😁😁😁

My stay with Kacka, Jachym and their sons was a wonderful experience. They are a generous and warm hearted family, and their various projects are inspiring. I got stuck into a number of jobs, and helping Jachym with digging the swimming pool was great fun, and helped with the occasional Czech beer chilled by the spring-fed steam in their garden. The surrounding area is beautiful with some good walks and lots of bike ride options. Looking at the Bohemian moonlight from the shepherd's hut will stay with me for a long time. I hope to spend more time with this wonderful family in the future.

I had the pleasure of volunteering for Iris and Christo for 4 weeks. I met them while volunteering at another shelter nearby a year ago, and immediately fell in love with their “little” sanctuary, that offers a wonderful life to about 35 dogs and 18 cats who live in a beautiful piece of land with lots of room to run, play and sunbathe. The dogs live in packs rather than in cramped little kennels which allows them to socialize and have a better quality of life, along with scheduled walks. The cats live in a well maintained sunny room with a garden, where they can roam freely. Their place runs very smoothly with a clear daily schedule and relatively easy tasks for anyone who`s looking for a volunteering experience that has a great work-life balance. Iris is a strong-willed woman who is deeply dedicated to the well-being of her animals and is very experienced in dog behavior and training, and Christo has great mechanical skills, lots of love for his dogs and extensive knowledge. Both of them care for the animals as their true furry children. They are very passionate about the injustices that stray dogs in Greece have to endure, and rescue them whenever possible.🤎🐾 I had such a wonderful time and shared many great conversations with them both, and befriended amazing fellow workawayers! This place is truly a hidden gem in Greece As a volunteer, you will be sleeping in your own tent (basics like mattress, nightstand and clothing rack are provided) and share the space with other volunteers, a washing machine is also available. Workawayers have their own area with separate kitchen and shower, along with a few dogs who will require your love and attention :). Workdays are relatively short (compared to other shelters), allowing you more free time for hobbies, socializing and rest. On your days off you can travel to other cities in the area using public transport. I have already promised to come visit and can`t wait to meet all the lovely dogs and cats again!

David has spent a week with us, helping us with a rather difficult job of building base ancors for our swimming pond structure, which we have been inventing on the go. The way he joined this place was helpful in a rare way. David was a cheerfull yet calm companion, genuinly interested in everything and very skilled and hard working. We have had great conversations and it was very valuable for us to share our life and plans with someone considerably older than us with much more life experience and shared values. We often welcome guests who are young people looking to learn form us, what a treat to be spending time with someone we can actually learn from. The fact that David shared our crazy drive for getting absurd jobs done at odd hours of day/night was just a cherry on top of a cake. Kacka also fell very ill during David´s stay and he took some great care of our two kids, driving them to a festival and generally just being independent, sensible, positive and helpful. David, you will always be welcome here!

When Cat arrived here it was like she's been here all along. Defenitely recommended! She did a lot of things in the garden with great confidence; I can't remember having to explain anything. I felt comfortable too with Cat around and really appreciated her taking care of the cooking when I was bizzy with work and building.

Iga stayed with us for two weeks together with her friend, and having them here was truly a wonderful experience. From the very beginning, Iga was warm, thoughtful, and a real pleasure to have around. She is studying archaeology, and you can immediately notice how curious, interested, and open-minded she is. We had many lovely conversations, and she brought a very positive and calm energy to our home. During her stay, she helped us a lot in the garden and with various small projects around the house. She was always willing to help, worked reliably, and did everything with care and a great attitude. It was clear that she really wanted to contribute and be part of daily life here. What made her stay especially nice was not only her help, but also who she is as a person. Both she and her friend were wonderful company for walks, conversations, and shared time together. They were simply lovely people to have around. Iga is also especially kind and loving with animals. Our animals absolutely adored her — and we can honestly say they would be especially happy to see her again. We can recommend Iga with all our heart to any future host. She would be a gift to any place she goes. And of course, she is always very welcome to come back anytime.

We had a wonderful experience hosting Chris on our farm. He helped us build a coffee stand, and his carpentry skills were truly impressive — precise, efficient, and very professional. Beyond his technical abilities, he brought a great positive energy to the place. I really enjoyed his company, and we shared many interesting conversations around the fire, which made the experience even more special. He is reliable, hardworking, and a pleasure to have around. I highly recommend him to any host looking for someone skilled, dedicated, and easy to get along with.

"Brechje was much more than just a Workawayer to us; she became part of our family. She has a wonderful, cheerful nature and cared for everyone like a mother. She was incredibly generous, bringing us sweets and presents, and even treated us to dinner. Her departure was very emotional for all of us, and there were tears when she left. Beyond her kindness, she is a talented teacher who provided immense help to my students. We miss her dearly and truly hope she comes back to visit us one day. No words can thank her enough!"

Staying at Gustavo's farm was amazing, we had a very nice community vibe, always sharing delicious veggies food, and the work was quite diverse and entertaining. Gustavo is always trying to teach you things about permaculture and sustainable life and cares about you to not only doing the same things during all you stay. Aside of that, the farm is a very beautiful place, with old olives trees and beautiful nature surrounding. I really enjoyed the weeks I spent there and recommend it without any hésitation! See you soon :)

The only thing I regret about my stay with Sandro and Mara is that I couldn’t stay longer there. I’ve had many great experiences through my volunteer work, but this one was truly special! The stunning nature, the unique scenery of Lake Como, and the warmth of the whole family made my stay perfect. It was a joy to spend my time there and to help out as best I could. I assisted with small renovation tasks in the house and garden, while still having more than enough time to explore the lake and the surrounding mountains. Everything is very conveniently located: the bus stop, ferry terminal, hiking trails, and even Villa del Balbianello are all just around the corner. I also learned a lot about Italian culture and enjoyed many interesting conversations with the family. And if you ever find yourself alone, Millo, the lovable house cat, will keep you company, making sure to get his share of attention and trying to trick you into giving him extra food. I can highly recommend this Workaway experience to anyone! Just make sure to have enough time, as it really flies by. I want to sincerely thank the whole family for this extraordinary experience, and as promised, I will come back to visit sooner or later. I’m already looking forward to it!

We had a really good feeling from the first moment we saw Stefanie on our "interview" video call. What a bright, happy personality she has! The day she arrived in the hostel it felt like the whole place suddenly got happier, sunnier, and lighter! She's the type of person that really lights up the room, it's amazing to see. We did reception training and she got everything immediately, she has a lot of experience working in hostels before and you can tell. Stef is a super social butterfly who immediately made friends with the guests and the other volunteers, she was a natural talent at reception! But also, she's a fantastic yoga teacher which she did some classes for the hostel as well during sunsets, it was such an upgrade for the hostel and our guests loved it! She's super proactive, really doesnt like being bored so she will always find something to do or help around. She's great at housekeeping as well, making the beds, cleaning the bathrooms and kitchens, very efficient in everything she does basically and never showed a lazy attitude! Whenever Stef was on shift we knew that the hostel was in good hands, so we could relax also a little bit. Stef i think you know this but you really cary a big place in our hearts and you've made it to being part of our family as well 🫶 you will always have a home away from home, right here in Pucón! We're waiting for you with open arms ❤️ Yip Yip Yip xxxxx

Amanda and Daniel are wonderful hosts who strike the perfect balance between being warm and welcoming while also respecting your privacy and personal space. I deeply resonated with their vision for the community space they are building. Working alongside them gave me a real sense of purpose — it truly felt like we were creating something meaningful together for the future of the community. Amanda is incredibly curious and always eager to start conversations on all kinds of topics — culture, politics, society, and beyond. Thanks to her, I gained so many new perspectives and insights that I never would have encountered otherwise. Daniel took me along to a local volleyball circle, which was one of the highlights of my stay. His calm and gentle personality made it so easy to feel at home right away. On days off, Berlin is easily reachable for a day trip — just about an hour away, which is a great bonus. Meals were shared and prepared in turns, and with a wonderfully stocked kitchen full of spices and ingredients, it was a joy to get creative with cooking. And of course, their dog Rocky deserves a special mention — incredibly friendly and adorable, he brought so much warmth to every single day. All in all, it was a truly fulfilling and heartwarming experience. I am deeply grateful to Amanda and Daniel, and would wholeheartedly recommend them to any future workawayer.

Muchísimas gracias a Mariana y Jessy por todo! La única cosa puedo decir es que ellos tienen que añadir unas fotos nuevas del lugar porque es demasiado hermosa y las fotos ahora no le hacen justicia. I would highly recommend this hostel for anyone looking for a beautiful, chill hostel volunteer experience! I miss everyone already :(

I’m having a wonderful stay here, with a truly remarkable welcome the Farm. Nathalie is a very sociable person, with a deeply humanistic vision of the world and an exceptional passion for regenerative agriculture. It is very easy to work with her in the garden, even if you’ve never touched the soil before or taken care of chickens or ducks. You learn quickly, and she is very patient. The conversations are just as practical as they can be spiritual. As for Jérôme, who is both Mauritian and Australian, he is a geologist by profession. It becomes quite clear that the Anthropocene is not just a concept for him, but something he feels deeply connected to with very ecological vision. He is very patient, highly technical, and remarkably helpful. I’ve never heard him say no. (Well… almost never 😊) And yes, there is on the farm a rainwater-harvesting greenhouse currently under renovation that truly deserves the curiosity of all Workawayers. It is a unique type of greenhouse in the world [yes, yes], so don’t hesitate to come and see it for yourself.

My stay with Nihal and his family was great and a perfect way to start my Sri Lanka trip. I helped preparing food (which was delicious), learned a lot about Sri Lankan culture and Nihal took me around the village. Seeing the countryside and a small village was so interesting compared to the bigger cities in Sri Lanka. Thank you for having me :)

I spent June 2025 staying with Jesse and Tristan. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had whilst travelling. I learnt so much about both animals and plants. The scenery is stunning (lake, forest, village) and very peaceful. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes you want to get up every morning to collect the eggs. It’s a lovely place to be; I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to discover farm life and who’s prepared to get their hands dirty. Thank you to them for these shared moments, and I hope to see you very soon to discover lots more.
